Cat is adorable, fun, and a great teacher of reading!
Meet cat. Cat sits, runs, and plays. But at the end of the day, cat can sure use a nap. This Level 1 reader is a compilation of three short and simple stories all about the same cute cat. With repetition, rhyme, and illustrations that perfectly match the text, this book is geared to the very earliest readers.
Easy words ( most can be sounded out), short sentences and bright illustrations. There isn't much of a plot, but the point is they are great for emergent readers to gain confidence. Will hunt for more in this series.
I read this to Julianna tonight. It was very cute. Julianna read back to me ;-) she says 5 stars. I agree. Short cute story & her attempting to read back to me with her big smiles and dimple was awesome..
Cat Days reads like the readers that I had in first grade back in the 1950s. As a child I didn't find them very interesting and his one is much better than the old ones I had back in the day. The subject of a cat is more interesting too. The illustrations are cute and appealing. The repetition of wording is good for young children and easy for them to use to start recognizing sight words.
Cat Days by Alexa Andrews is a simple chapter book for beginning readers. The stories are quick to read and charming. This is a lovely book for those beginning their journey into becoming readers and those looking for a quick, easy read.
Very cute book. The illustrations are darling, and the content is perfect for young readers. It’s filled with great picture cues, repetitive text, and predictive story patterns that are helpful for youngsters.
This is a beginning reader book I downloaded for free on my Nook. It is a VERY basic reader, intended for kids just starting to identify words and read on their own. This is really not a book intended for fun reading aloud. The pictures are cute, and while there really isn't a story, there is a certain subtle humor to the actions of the cat. Cat people will see it, others not so much.
Truthfully, I wasn't even going to review this one as it was so basic, but darned if my son hasn't asked for it for the past 3 nights running. As a kindergartener, I think its attraction lies in the fact that he's learning to read and starting to be able to identify words. That or he just likes the cats. Hard to say. Either way, this shows there is something positive in that simple, little book. I bumped it up a whole star based on that fact alone. The fact that it was a freebie for my Nook is just icing on the cake. If you have a beginning reader and a Nook, I'd recommend snagging this.
I can't say enough about this book. Read this with our 5-year-old just before starting kindergarten. She already knew many of the words: cat, hat, mat, car, so it gave her great confidence as she quickly learned to read the rest. Fantastic first book for a new reader. We then read as many of the Penguin Young Readers, Level 1, as we could find.
First, CATS! It's pretty much just a cat doing stuffs.
Second, my niece liked it enough to want to read it me and could when she was just starting out, so it's a good book for kindergartners. Especially one who loves cats.
Third, I choose all the books for my mom's library. No judging. I'm doing it for the children.
This book would be perfect for a beginning reader; the text is very simple. My seven-year-old chose this book for me to read aloud to him tonight. I thought the super-easy text would turn him off, but he enjoyed it and even giggled a few times.
This book has cute pictures and simple words. It reminded me of Dick and Jane from years ago but even simpler. This is definitely aimed at beginners, but the pictures are so cute that as an adult, I enjoyed it, too!
Fountas and Pinnell/Guided Reading Level B. Repetitive text with some picture cues. Words are appropriately phonetically decodable for this reading level. My daughter enjoyed reading this book over and over to me.
