Jaime Rivers, author of the popular romance series, The Quest, survived an accident that nearly took her life. Cajoled into accepting an invitation for a seven-day cruise to celebrate her ten-year high school reunion, she comes face-to-face with her past when the woman of her dreams haunts her days on the warm seas, even as she struggles to keep a secret that tears at her heart.
Sierra Connor works for the travel agency responsible for booking her high school reunion cruise. She doesn’t want to attend the reunion in the first place because one woman will be there—the one who always made her feel whole but then disappeared and left Sierra’s heart and soul crushed without so much as a word. She knows love is for people who can trust, and she’s not one of those people.
It was only one touch, ten years ago. Forced together once more, will the memory of that one touch ignite a new future? Or will their old hurts quench the flame?
1,5 stars I recently discovered this one on my e-book reader, have no clue how long it sat there. On to the review: I don't like Sierra. Call me simple minded, but if someone called me names and then blamed me for it because "I wasn't honest enough", I'd consider the person an idiot. For whatever reason Jamie tolerates it. All in all it was more about both of the MCs wallowing in their self-inflicted miserable thoughts and than any actual romance with a plot. So basically "we both hate ourselves but love the other, oh woe is me..." And I wasn't a fan.
This is a story with very hot, sweet and angst moments. Not a perfect balance of them all but it was a nice reading overall.
There's an interesting expectation to see how they'll react once they meet again. A lot of assumptions they made were the primal issue stoping them from expressing their feelings at the beginning, which in consequence made slower the development of any romance between them.
The development of their relationship begins with a ten-year high school reunion that takes place in a cruise. From there they go thru a short journey for about a week and confessed each other their mutual love and desire, however, many things from Jamie's side were left unsaid at the beginning and this caused a break up in their still-growing relationship, leaving no place for another chance.
The plot has some things I don't like and also don't make much sense to me but the story in general was well written and interesting.
The main characters were appealing but at some points some of their attitudes are quite unnerving. However, the chemistry between them was really hot and sweet, both were attracted to each other and were already in love with each other, which gave this story a very romantic settling.
I have some personal opinions in regard to how the story was handled. I didn't like much the plot. I feel uncomfortable when one of the characters lacks of self-worth and beg for love and acceptance. I can't deal with it. I like when both characters have clear the line between loving someone and not having self-esteem.
The secondary characters were interesting, especially Jamie's best friend, a very great and funny woman who gave a nice touch to the story. The other characters didn't affect much the relationship between the main characters.
I have to remark that I really liked the way the author uses words to express feelings. She has a very creative way to portray some scenes.
Concerning the love scenes I have to say they were steamy hot, very well done, I liked the sensual vibe and the passion they both shared for each other.
To conclude, this is not a page-turner book but has some really nice moments that keep you interested while reading it, and even though I think there were some flaws in the story and the plot was not my favorite, I also think there are some scenes that make it worth it to give it a try.
What if you get another shot at getting your first love?
This fact appealed the most to me, about this story. I mean who hasn’t been in a situation that got a different outcome then you would have hoped for. Normally we get on with life, grow older and forget about our first crushes (in our minds, but not in hearts)
Jaime gets a chance, to see her first and greatest crush again, after losing touch for ten years. But just having a chance won’t insure her that she will succeed this time around. For all she knows Sierra is still married to the man she allegedly married. And even if she’s not married anymore, back in the day she was “straight”, right?
For Jaime a lot has changed in 10 years. She doesn’t see herself as worthy of Sierra’s love then she once felt. If she has a say in all of this, she won’t even attend this reunion cruise. She doesn’t want to see that face again, the face of the woman that broke her heart 10 years ago. Well, bad luck, because her best friend won’t stop nagging until she agrees. And when she finally agrees, even Jaime can’t predict what this reunion cruise will set in motion.
It was a story about facing demons and starting over. A story of forgiveness and to be brave to love again, knowing it can lead to new heartbreak. But isn’t love worth the risk? To Jaime it is, because she isn’t going to let Sierra go that easily, now that she’s back in her life.
As soon as I started reading One Touch, I knew that I was going to stay up all night until I finished it. L.T. Marie grabbed the readers with her two characters of Jaime and Sierra and didn't let us forget the chemistry, the history, and the language of love that they engaged in throughout the chapters. Having become friends in high school, Jaime and Sierra made a connection that was meant to be forever but teenage anxiety and assumptions put a halt to love before it was given a chance. Ten years later at their high school reunion aboard a cruise in the Caribbean (reader please be aware that you will be Googling cruise ship tours immediately upon finishing this story if not sooner!), they meet again and the connection is still there. However, over the years they have spent apart each woman has grown and been challenged with life's lessons and these experiences have the potential to break them apart again. Through out the story I was cheering for them to find their way, getting mad at all the stupid things that kept them apart and was definitely "awwwwweee"ing over the ending. L.T. Marie gave a fun, quick, engaging romp through the waves of love!
A good story that kept me engaged, though the ending was rushed to a degree that was almost unacceptable. I know I harp on about this, but as a reader we invest in the story and deserve our moment of relief / happiness.
This story is an interesting mix of slapstick, frivolity, and ingeniousness. There is an author who has been pining after her one true love whom she met in high school. Then there is the one true love also pining away since high school for the author. Goodness gracious, these two desperately need to get together again. Voilà! A high school reunion cruise is being put together and oh yes the 'machinations' are just getting started! I thought this was going to be a bit of a one-trick pony story, but I was delightfully surprised that it was not. So, allow me to take you through a few of the highlights, introduce you to the key gals, and hopefully present a tantalizing invitation to read this very enjoyable tale!
Author Jaime Rivers is suffering through a nasty case of writer's block. She knows the cause, but refuses to share that with her friend Darlene or her editor. Her best selling series is about the adventurous Flynn Russell, but Jaime thinks she has gone cold and dry when it comes to Flynn. Not good! Jaime has been through some rough times herself, but seems to be managing her recovery through a solid twelve step program, her close friend Darlene, and her current responsibilities as a sponsor of a newly recovering addict. Jaime kind of gets hoodwinked into going on this 'high school reunion' event, where she is completely astounded by what happens during the cruise. I was delighted!
Sierra Connor has tied herself up in knots over her super fond memories of Jamie Rivers from her high school years. The bestest of moments was a deep kiss shared that simply could never be equaled by anything...certainly not her extremely disappointing marriage. Sierra is a top-notch performing travel agent who was not pleased to have the 'reunion cruise' from her high school dumped in her lap. Crikeys! However, she is too much of a professional not to do a spectacular job. However her first call on this project involves a Darlene Whitman trying to book late for her and...Jaime Rivers...of all people. Oh what a tangled web has now unfolded for the joy of readers like me! Sierra is a bit complicated to grasp and somewhat unrealistic at times. However, people can be unrealistic and I was willing to go along with Sierra's foibles and idiosyncrasies for the sake of the story. I was extremely glad that I did!
Along with all the astounding events that happen on the cruise, Jaime gets Flynn Russell back into action in a manner that doesn't really please Jaime's fans. I loved the intertwining of the lesbian erotic adventurer Flynn interwoven with the high school reunion shenanigans. What a treat. I do recommend this curiously parallel pair of stories that has a slow beginning but a smashing conclusion. Enjoy it...I certainly did!

This was my first stab at reading one of L.T.'s books and I could barely put it down. The only thing that made me stop was that I wanted the book to last longer!
Jaime Rivers and Sierra Connor were best friends all through high school but at the end of school in their senior year Jaime kissed Sierra and told her she was a lesbian. Sierra freaked out and Jaime knew she had lost her friend forever. After waiting a week for Sierra to contact her she left on an extended vacation. Ten years later she gets a notice of her reunion on a cruise and wants nothing to do with it afraid she would run into Sierra, the only woman she has ever loved, and be rejected again. While Jaime is a successful author she still feels unworthy of love especially after a tragic accident on her surf board led to an addiction to pain pills. Jaime's best friend, Darlene finally convinces her to go and calls the travel agency that is handling the cruise to book a room for the two of them. Sierra worked for the company handling the reunion and gladly takes Darlene's info but when she hears the next name to be booked she has a little breakdown. After all these years, Jaime was going to be back in her life and the only thing she can think about is how she ran out on her so many years ago.
The first night on the cruise was filled with meet and greets and getting settled into their rooms. At dinner time they went to the main dining area and she gets stuck at a table with the biggest jock (actually alcoholic jerk is more accurate) and his lovely wife, the head cheerleader and biggest gossip of their entire class. As they converse with their table, Jaime sees Sierra and her heart skips a beat and when Sierra notices her all the feelings that each of them bottled up ten years ago resurfaced. Over the next day they had run ins with each other but every time they got interrupted at the absolutely worst time, right after they said something that could be taken the wrong way. Finally they get a chance to talk, they spend a day touring the Keys and when Jaime sees there is a a kayak trip she jumps at the chance but Sierra not being the daring one makes her promise to take her snorkeling at the next stop. The idea of getting into the water freaks Jaime out and Sierra has no idea what is wrong since Jaime was an accomplished surfer. As they were getting back on the ship, Sierra asked if Jaime was going to the formal dinner that night and Jaime jumps at the chance. Unfortunately not thinking she would bother with the dinner she had nothing to wear and freaks out, fortunately Darlene has thought of everything and had a tuxedo tailored just for her. They both go to dinner and are happy to be at Sierra's table instead of the previous one. After dinner they decide to get away, they talk and start to dance and when a slow song comes on one of the reunion people asks to cut in and Jaime lets him... As Sierra watches her walk away she is pissed, excuses herself and grabs Jaime dragging her out onto the deck and asks her why she just let her go...
As the week continues they share all their secrets not wanting anything between them and nothing to tear them apart again. Unfortunately for Jaime, one of her secrets goes against one of Sierra's secrets and a divide opens up between them that may never be filled again...
This is a true love story. Love that never had a chance, love that grew with one touch, love that destroyed both women in different ways but most importantly a love that just might be able to complete both of them. Ten years is a long time to wait, a long time to wonder, and a very long time to yearn. Mistakes are made and some are forgiven but some may change the game forever. Can one touch be enough to bring them to the happy ending they both want or will their trust issues bare their ugly heads and ruin it all...
Wonderful character build up, not showing us what we want to see until the other is ready to hear it. We don't know the secrets but we know they will play a pivotal role in the story. If you don't feel happy, elated, sad, devastated, hopeful and down right horny after you read this book then you need to read it again!
I'd like to give this a 3 and half, the story was well paced and enjoyable. Some of the sex scenes were repetitive, but you connected with the characters who were more emotionally driven rather than sex driven, which can so often happen in short stories.
„S, This book is dedicated to the only woman I ever loved. I’m sorry that I couldn’t be your real-life hero, but hopefully, through my story, you will see everything I wanted to be for you and more. J ” „Sierra had calmed a part of her soul, and she’d never be the same, no matter what happened”
Jaime used to be an introvert surf lover in highschool, she was always suspected a lesbian and always because she was by Sierra’s side, whom she adored since then, yet after one kiss Jaime couldn’t hold it to herself anymore changed their friendship and they were separated because of Sierra’s fear running away and Jaime’s impatience to really wait for her. Their looks couldn’t be more different, Jaime was athletic, tall, short haired and blonde, while Sierra was smaller, feminine and had auburn long hair. So, there they were, two broken hearts. They haven’t spoken to each other, until this new opportunity. Jaime is a famous lesbian author, writing the series „The Quest” with Flynn as major character, and she is invited by her friend and highschool colleague, Darlene, to their tenth year highschool anyversary which will be a cruise along Jamaican Isles, yet what Jaime doesn’t know is that Sierra works for the travel agency that organizes the cruise. They are both missing their friendship, and while Jaime has know about her own sexuality since the age of fourteen, Sierra was a rebel, she denied it, she has even got married to prove herself wrong and has undone her feelings and went through a terrible lifetime with Eric, her ex husband whom she never loved, yet now she knows she would have wanted to know what Jaime’s highschool kiss could have ment. She tried to date a couple of other women, yet they hadn’t managed to make her feel the drill that Jaime did. Jaime is still an introvert because she has been through a lot too and her accident almost killed her and got her into painkiller addiction, while that made her body dependent, it made her soul express through writting. I enjoyed how L.T. Marie managed to indulge their first meeting and how easily they reunited in their frienship and their passion. One man hatred was indeed a point of turn, their colleague Bo, had always something against Jaime and seeing her and Sierra together shook his manhood.
Their kissess and touches are of adults now, and they are breathtaking and their lovemaking is beautifully and passionately depicted as like in painting of two body and souls becoming one. They share kisses, lips, tongues, skins, souls and hearts. Jaime has the courage to tell Sierra about the shark attack she had to bear and tha left a big scar upon her body and a greater one in her soul, yet doesn’t tell her about her former pill addiction. And when she does, the spell is broken, that’s the real turning point, when Sierra’s fear overwhelms her and hesitates, but Jaime leaves first making it way easier as she realizes she can’t ask nor beg Sierra to take on a relationship with her after her marriage with an abusive alcohool addict that was Eric. The worst part is when Jaime gets beaten by Bo, their former classmate, who proved this way his manhood. A terrible deed. He gets arrested, yet Jaime is badly injured and the one by her side is Darlene, while, Sierra left without knowing.
They stay apart a few months, while Jaime writes a sad ending for Flynn and the audience of readers is not satisfied with her novel. Sierra reads it and an unexpected meeting with Darlene that really makes her feel bad and she realizes that Jaime hurts and that she can’t live without Jaime. So she walks over at Jaime’s home and they meet, kiss and make up and out and live happily ever after-forever.
This is short and sweet. A week on a reunion cruise -- with some reunions sweeter than others. Jaime's established a career for herself as a popular lesbian writer; Sierra is comfortable in her job as a travel agent. But neither of them has gotten over their lone kiss in high school, and both women have demons to fight.
I tucked this in my bag yesterday as I left for work, on the off chance that I'd finish my other book and need something to read. Well, it was the slowest day we've had in a while, and I was very grateful to have book #2 -- which I was twenty pages away from finishing by the time I got home. But, hi, it is awkward to be reading steamy scenes when you're sitting on the subway and not sure if the middle-aged man next to you is reading over your shoulder.
Erm. Anyway. I'm a little out of practice with f/f romance, to be honest. (Harlequins -- which I treat as candy, i.e., to be consumed sparingly but gleefully, and with the understanding that they might leave me feeling a little ill -- are much easier to find, and they don't do f/f.) Do the characters usually spend so much time in tears?
The tension is more scattered than I'd like* -- rather than focusing on one or two things (Jaime's insecurity and history of addiction; Sierra's failed marriage), thing after thing leaps in to cause problems. High school bullies who haven't changed. Petrifying fear of water. Sierra (who hasn't, to that point, divulged much about her past) takes offense because, after ten years apart, Jaime doesn't reveal her secrets immediately.
I like the characters, though. Darlene makes me smirk -- especially her playacting with Jaime at the beginning of the cruise. (Wouldn't have amused me if it had been carried on and on, but as is, it did.) I like that Jaime and Sierra are both successful -- neither of them swimming in money, but meeting on reasonably equal footing. They do seem a little more...grown up?...than I would expect of women at a ten-year reunion (my ten-year high school reunion will be next year, and believe me, I am not nearly as grounded as most of the people on this cruise -- and my high school certainly won't be organising a cruise!), but that never really took me out of the story. They fall hard and fast, but then, they've both had ten years to try to stop falling, and neither has ever really managed it.
So -- light read with a veneer of more depth, I think, but a satisfying one. And a good one to have on hand when nothing's coming through the pipeline at work.
*But not as scattered as this review. Hmm.
I received a free copy of this book via a Goodreads giveaway.
Not what i expected. It was so much better even. Amazing how time didn't matter 14 years of a crush would lead to the most amazing story of love and fear trust and happiness t couldn't get better then that. And the way i was reading not one story of a women in love but two in one was just amazing. The way James was telling her story throw Flyn and how she was able to reach her lover throw that one book. Amazing i really love this book.!!
For her second book I loved it! Jamie is a great character and LT spins the charisma between her and Sierra so well you are wanting more with each page turn.
