Cute idea. A lot of the designs seem more for kids, but I think a lot of the instructions would need some simplification first.

Wow! Beautiful Bugs. Easy to follow instructions,a fun and unique craft. I read a lot of craft books, looking for that special project that I can make that interests me, oddly enough I like bugs! Often I never start or complete any project, because they are to hard, need to many expensive supplies or I'm just not excited by them. This book is an exception. I enjoy beading, but am not into jewelry so this was perfect! Made an army of beaded spiders.(Properly called an Cluster or Clutter of Spiders.)
I made them as Christmas ornaments, and am packaging them with the legend of the Christmas Spider. They came out better then I expected. Next I'd like to try to make the Seahorses, very pretty.

I am very impressed with this book. We just started working with beads and there are several very cute projects with photos and detailed instructions so it is not too intimidating. I like the fact that these projects vary from easy to more difficult and am amazed at how beautiful many of these "bugs" are!

Bead Bugs by Amy Kopperude isn't so much about making a fashion statement or creating a style as it is about doing something different and fun. As the subtitle explains Cute, Creepy, and Quirky Projects to Make with Beads, Wire, and Fun Found Objects.

The 128 page book contains 23 projects. Each project has detailed instructions, plenty of close up color pictures, and ideas that strongly encourage personal creativity. Whether it be the simple “Spider Pin” on page 18-21 or the more complicated “Mosquito Candle Clinger” (pages 30-35) or the elaborate Fireflies In A Jar (pages 54-59) there are plenty of projects to choose from. While the skill levels needed to fashion something close to what is depicted will vary, they all are fun and very creative.

This colorful book also includes a section on tools and resources, and plenty of information so that you can make something truly unique. “Bead Bugs” will show you how to use beads as well as found objects in your home in clever ways while unleashing a lot of fun and creativity.
