Corvette Racing: The Complete Competition History from Sebring to Le Mans

Rate this book
Chevy’s Corvette is without question one of the most recognized sports cars in the world. Since its introduction at GM’s Motorama, Corvettes have been favorites for fans and drivers in a wide variety of racing venues, including endurance events, hillclimbs, Trans-Am, drag racing, and GT Racing. For six decades, Corvettes have battled and defeated some of the the biggest names in the sports car world—Ferrari, Porsche, Cobra, Jaguar—at storied road courses like Le Mans, Daytona, the Nürburgring, Sebring, and Laguna Seca.Beginning with the Real McCoy, a Zora Arkus-Duntov special raced at Sebring in 1956, this book draws on the history of factory-sponsored and private racing efforts, chronicling the history of the various Vettes that have been put to the test as racing machines. Noted automotive writer and renowned artist David Kimble delves deep into Vette’s on-track history to provide the most thorough Corvette racing history ever published. Corvette Racing is illustrated with rare images from GM’s media and design archives and complemented by Kimble’s own stunning cutaway artwork. For Corvette and racing fans, this book is the definitive word on Corvette’s nearly 60 years of competition.

Corvette Racing:The Complete Competition History from Sebring to Le Mans,Worth Every Pretty Penny.An Oral History.:

Could have done Much Better:

The Much Anticipated(Approximately 2 years)Oral History of Corvette Racing has arrived and it is not only Highly Informative but also technical and without any of the Jargon that non-Technically Inclined Folks will not understand.I Love The Cover,The Format and the fact that is an Huge Oversized book and Thick and Heavy,While it has 256 Pages(Index Yes,Introduction NO.)and I do wish it would have had MORE Pages and More Pictures specifically Wide Spread ones. The Bad Boy Vettes/Jake Cars are not Featured(except for seeing the decal itself no mention) neither is the Daytona Corvette Prototype(Racer)PICTURED but it is included with brief background information and results yet not pictures of it,In consideration the book went to press or was close to while the DP Corvette came out. The C5-R AND C6.R and Now C6 ZR1 Racer.(C6.R)up to the Current Yellow and Black are featured,White Sebring 07' C6.R, My Favorite the Morrison Corvettes from 80's and 90's #2 and #93,as well as other favorites of mine. The Callaway Le Mans Car,The Dieline Corvette(Another Favorite of mine.) An Beautiful COLOR picture of the Grand Sport 63' Off the Ship at the Bahamas Docks(Bahamas Speed Weeks.)Alot of Mr.Kimble's Illustrations of Vehicles and Engines(Cutaway Illustrations.)and other favorites The 57' SR-2 with BubbleTop At Daytona,The Rebel Flag Corvette as #54;
It is Complete Orally,Pictorial Wise would have been nice,otherwise should be Competition History Not Complete Competition History.No HillClimbs,Drag Racing(except an car or two.) An Few Typos/Errors, Such as Dave Mclleon or to that effect and Not Mcllean. Or #41 Corvette Dx Car(There was none in 68' Sebring race just #4,Printer in China should be to blame.)Conclusion,Regardless this is an Corvette Book and an Corvette Racing Book at that and it should be included in any Corvette Library,An Must Read for 2013!
