Flower Power #3

Oopsy Daisy

Rate this book
Life for the Flower Power girls is never boring.

Milla, still madly in crush with sweet Max, wonders if it's time -- dun dun dun! -- for the two of them to actually HOLD HANDS. Eeek!

Katie-Rose, on the other hand, can't help but wonder when -- or if -- she will ever be crush-worthy, especially since the only boy to pay her any attention is pesky, annoying Preston, whose favorite pastime is throwing erasers at Katie-Rose's head.

Violet, however, has bigger issues than boys on her mind. Her mom is finally scheduled to be discharged from the psychiatric hospital where she's been undergoing treatment, but what if her homecoming doesn't go as planned?

Luckily, Yasaman has a foolproof plan for distracting her friends from their worries. The targets: beloved teachers Mr. Emerson and Ms. Perez, who are meant for each other, even if they don't know it. The goal: to bring those lovebirds together at their school's "Kids Night In," a teacher-chaperoned evening of fun, fabulosity, and possibly even romance . . .

Milla, Yasaman, Violet and Katie-Rose are in the fifth grade and are best friends. This the third book in this series and they just keep getting better. The four friends have very distinct personalities and each is given a chance to shine. Much of the stories beauty lies in the authenticity of the girls voices. I really appreciate the natural ease in which diversity is embraced amongst the four friends. It doesn't feel forced nor does Myracle shy away for it. The author is also doing an excellent job of building the world about the main characters, from their families, to could be boyfriends to the mean girls. The various stories of Milla, Yasaman Violet and Katie-Rose blend together very well.

Here's what MundieTween said, "You know how these books are fiction but they can relate to girls everywhere?" I answered, yes and she just sighed. To say that my daughter loves this series is to underestimate the amount of passion she has for it.

According to my daughter, this story deals with the "ups and down of fifth grade" and most of all those moments of puppy love. You remember them, don't you? Those first crushes before things become too dramatic in middle school (and let's not even discuss high school dramarama levels).

The plot centers around the "Lock In", a chaperoned, overnight shindig with all the possibilities of a little romance. But pizza fights occur, new iPhones are used and Project Teacherly Lurve may result in a love match. And we get to see why Violet pulls out of the Lock-in.

This book is a must-read for fans of the Flower Power series. As a fan of Lauren's YA writing, I'm so grateful she wrote a series that my daughter can enjoy. Now, judging by my daughter's love of these characters and their adventures, you can probably guess where I'll be today. That's right, at a bookstore because Awesome Blossom's release day is, you guessed it, today.

Violets mom is home. Triple YAY 😊! Mr.Emerson and Ms. Perez, what a cute couple. Elena is chick #3 with Modessa and Quin. Milla is worried about her. The Lock Down leads to Katie-Rose eating Prestons Pizza 🍕 and an argument between Mr.Emerson and Miss Perez about coconut 🍚. Nigar,Yasamans sister,is having a bubblegum bday party and the flower friends are helping with it.

The third book in the Flower Power series is just as awesome as the first two. I simply flew through this book and had problems putting it down. Myracle's prose is fun and easy to read, and I love reading from each girl's different perspective. There's a lot of emphasis on boys and romance in this book, but there's some great chapters from Violet's point of view that deal with her emotions regarding her mom being back home from the psychiatric hospital. Those sections were really poignant to read and I think Myracle did a wonderful job making it realistic.

Overall, I can't say enough good things about Myracle's books and this middle-grade series in particular. I heard that this will just be a quartet, which means only one book left but I do hope more get written. These characters are so much fun to hang out with that I don't want to have to say goodbye to them!

I Loved the book oopsy daisy it was the third book in the flower power book series. It was about four girls ( yasaman, violet, Camilla, and Katie-rose) who are going into fifth grade. They have to thing they are trying todo in this book, 1. Try to get two teachers together ( the project of teacherly love ) and 2. Trying to get a really nice girl to stop being friends with 2 other really mean girls. In the end the project of teacherly love succeeds but their other project dose not.

I really liked this book and I think you would like to to! ( but you have to read the first book first )

Katie - Rose, Yasman, Camilla, and Violet are flower friends forever, or FFFs. they have to use their foes Modessa and Quin. but recently modessa has found a new victim: the sweet town girl, Elena. Elena , Modessa, and Quin all got matching shirts that read Evil Chick 1, 2, 3(Modessa is 1, quin is 2, and Elena is 3) Milla wants to save Elena from the evil chicks clutches. Katie rose relizes that thier might be a boy that is not a vile as she thinks. Violet is very glad that her mom is back from the mental hospital but might not be completely better. and Yasman wonders whether or not she wants to be the sweet quiet girl everybody sees her as. find out what happens in oopsy daisy.

First, this book should be read at the right age. Second, when read at the ideal age it is incredibly good. Third, despite the bad cover, name, and series name, these books are very well written. In my opinion the Flower Power series should be read from first grade to third grade for it to reach it's full potential. I read Luv Ya Bunches in second grade, and was surprised to find that even though I'm too old for this now, I still got some entertainment out of it. The characters like always cheered me up, and truly did represent many people I know, Katie-Rose especially. Lauren Myracle seems to really know this age group, and I might even go far enough to say that she understands them.

This is completely the kind of book I would have been reading in the fifth grade. It's full of grade-school drama-rama, and grade-school humor (ie, fart jokes) and grade-school friends, which at time are you best friends forever (or flower friends forever, as these girls would say). Myracle continues to deliver the goods for middle graders. Keep 'em coming!

I really liked this book, escpecially the parts about Milla and Max. Milla was probably my favorite of the flower power girls, so I almost wanted to feel happy for her in real life. This book had a good balance of comedy and romance, which are two things I really like.

Eh. Some parts of the book could be really good, while the other parts are just boring. I didn't have a strong opinion on this book, even though I read the whole story. Lauren Myracle is a outstanding author, but these series are not every exciting!

Another cute one. I hope my nieces find friendships like this in school. I am looking forward to passing this book along to them. Can't wait to read the next book. Which seems to be the last. :-(
