I'm certain this book is great for many, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. Most of the book is dedicated to projects using patterned supplies - mostly fabrics. I was hoping it was more about creating your own patterns, but only about 20 pages were dedicated to that and I found the info to not be overly helpful if you are experienced with Photoshop. On the reverse, if you are new to Photoshop I'm pretty certain the info would be beyond your reach.
This is a great choice for someone who needs ideas on different ways to use printed fabrics or print custom stationary. There is a nice variety of project types, not all involving sewing. The title just wasn't really for me.
I and a large majority of the quilting/crafting world am obsessed with Heather Ross fabric. It's adorable, high quality and like gold.
In her Prints book she gives you a cd with her fabric graphics so you can print and create your own projects as well as a down and dirty designing lesson. I can only imagine it's an abbreviated version of her class.
I checked this out from the library so I wasn't able to spend nearly as much time with it as I wanted to, I put it one my list for my birthday, I need it!
I wondered, when reading a review about this book, why I'd want to read it or have it. Now that I've taken a look, I totally get it. I've often wished I could just make my own prints for cards or, really, anything. You can use heather's prints in a wide variety of ways, but she also gives you helpful information on how to make your own. Love it! Can't wait to put it to use!
I do indeed love Heather Ross designs and bought this because i thought it would be great to use the CD to make sweet paper holiday crafts for nieces. What I didn't expect was the fantastic design tutorial that really helped me figure out Spoonflower. Now contemplating all the custom fabric I could make in order to make even cooler gifts (not to mention some clothes for myself).
For people who REALLY LIKE Heather Ross (I do, but I don't need to illustrate my life with her work).
I'm not sure I would use this for the projects, but I do like the section about design - it would be good to read before diving into Spoonflower or something like that.
