Ida has never been close to her mother, Mavis, but she is a little too close to Mavis's husband, the less-than-godly preacher of First Presbyterian Church. When Ida gives birth to a baby boy, she claims the preacher is the baby's father.
After Ida is convicted of negligent homicide and goes to prison, Mavis finds herself faced with the task of raising Ida's six-year-old daughter, Tia. Mavis barely knows her grandchild, and must find a way to form a bond while she's still struggling with her husband's betrayal.
Tia has already spent time with an abusive foster parent, and now must learn to survive with her emotionally distant grandmother.

A really good story on how pain can be spread generation to generation and what it takes to forgive. I enjoyed this book immensely. The writer's style is flowing and her words were touching. A recommended read.

This book was a major blessing to me, it helped me to move towards forgiveness and healing within my family unit. I am giving this book to my teen daughter to read. Healing is possible. We must heal before we pass down our generational curses.

This was an okay book. The story flowed very well. The storyline was good. Just not a lot of depth to the story or characters. It had some good Christian lifestyle references and a few bible verses. This story was about a generational curse between a grandmother, daughter, and grand daughter. I was glad to see that their eyes were opened to the pattern and enjoyed their journey to letting go of that curse.I would've liked to have seen how the changes took place with Tia, Lorenzo, and Serenity. Love is a beautiful thing. You have to forgive to be set free from bondage. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a Christian fiction book that deals with forgiveness and generational curses.

Found this book to be an easy read. The premise was good and having worked in the social work field felt it was pretty realistic in its portrayal. Knowing this was a Christian read I expected that influence, but still thought there were too many scriptures quoted. Otherwise it was a pretty good book, especially for a first novel. 3 stars

great concept...but could have been opened up more. Davis withdrawal from her husband and abuse of her child does not explain Ida or Henry behavior....but, Jesus is the answer.
