Wahida Clark was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. She decided to start writing fiction while incarcerated at a women's federal camp in Lexington, KY. Her style is street, raw, and she has an imagination that's in overdrive. When you read her novels they are so real you are convinced of one of three things: that you are inside the book, you know the characters, or you just have to meet them.
Her first novel, Thugs And The Women Who Love Them and the sequel, Every Thug Needs A Lady appeared on the Essence Best Sellers List.

The name of the book i read was called Every Thug Needs a Lady by Wahida Clark. The theme of this book is about the streets and love. This book is about 4 main characters and is another oart to a book I previously read. The main character Tasha just met Trey and they start to hang out alot and just do things togethor they hardlyy knew each other but something kept her coming back to him acouple months later they make it official and start to date they have 2 kids togethor and in the begiining of the book he was really violent but she didnt haver the guts to leave him. Angel just got out of a serious relationship and wasnt looking for anyone or anything but time with her girls that she honestlyy would do anything for. Tasha tried to leave the whole thug and huistling game thing behind but just like the men find it addicting so did she. Her kids were twins and very annoying always arguing and making it hard for her. They ended up tryna work there problems out and Angel met somebodyya s well .And they eventually started to get there act togethor and stop letting men run there lives. This book was interesting because it elated to alot of things that happent odayy and to young kids. Tasha at fisr let Trey bully her around and didnt say anything but then she got sick of it and stood up to him.Tis book made me relaize that we shouldnt let any guy push us around just because were scared to looose him. When Tasha tells him to stop that she isnt gonna take it anymore it reminded me of things that happen everyday women in abusive relationships. I would recoomnded this book to teens that think the streets is the onlyy answer and females that think that a guy is what they need .in Conclusion i would agree that this book taught me alot and would help me maybe in the future.

Not since crack hit the streets in the 80s has there been such a huge detriment to the black community as these so-called "urban novels." I am sad and ashamed that so many people are reading these books. Not only was the book not properly proof-read, but the plot was ridiculous and the characters were extra ignorant caricatures of every black stereotype imaginable. My people, we've got to do better!

This is part two of the Thug Series written by Wahida Clark. It follows the book 'Thugs and the Women who Love Them'. This is probably my favorite book out of the series. I read it in about a hour, hour and half, and loved every minute of it. It talks about everything from drugs, sex, to dealing with the loss of a love to another love. This book covers the love life of a woman and her new husband, and the start of a new love. It has drama, comedy, sadness, death, and love all wrapped into one book.

I re-read this book at least twice a year, so my review is very bias. I first read this book when I was 14 or 15 and it has been one of favorites ever since. I'll be the first to admit the writing or the story is nothing spectacular, but it's so fun and easy to read. At this point I can read the whole thing in 3 hours. This was also one of the first books I read where the characters sounded like and shared similar backgrounds with the people around me.

The more I read this the more I realize I don't like Roz aka Tasha at all. She and Trey are in love with one another after literally two days of talking (I hesitate to call it dating) and get married two weeks later. She comes off strong in some ways-- She owns a 3 flat, she has an education, a good job and saves her money. But even that is a faux strength because it was all financed by other men. In other ways she is so weak--She allows Trey to do whatever he wants, she sits around waiting for him while he's running the streets, and is the victim of domestic abuse (which she sees as either romanic or as something she deserves).

I also don't like Trey. He mistreats all the women in his life and is an arrogant, violent, asshole.

None of that would be a problem if the book wasn't portraying this as the ideal relationship.

Angel is a a much better character. She has an education and a good job. She does not give into Kaylin's every whim and makes him court her before they are in a relationship. She also has this way of challenging him and setting boundaries which make them feel more like equals.

By the way, the sex is very graphic and often repetitive. I don't mind it though. I skip over most of it at this point.

There are a few issues with the writing I still can't get over after all these years.

1.) The descriptions. These people have money and like nice things, but is it necessary to remind us of the label of every single thing they wear and own? Somethings are just described as "a $2,500 white gucci blouse"-- that could be like 1,000 different tops. Also, what is the price adding to the description?

2.) You can feel the authors ideals through the writing too often. The characters don't eat pork and share a distaste for people who do (the author is Muslim), many of the women are glorified because they don't wear make up or weaves, and there is some light weight slut shaming (the women toast to fact that they are not hoes).

3.) Sex solves all problems.

4.) Songs are always being mentioned with even the characters reciting lyrics to one another. It's corny and it dates the book.

5.) This is not a writing problem, but the characters must have really flexible jobs because they show up when they feel like...lol

Over all, issues aside I think Wahida Clark captures a feeling in this book. There are some super cute/ funny scenes in the book I love to read over and over. Also, it's nice to see educated black women, black relationships, and black hood culture in an addicting, fun book that doesn't take it's self too seriously. If this wasn't one of my personal favorites I'd give it something more like 2 or 3 stars.

Where do I start? I didn’t read part one and went straight into this book (I didn’t know part one existed; this was my first read from this author). The flow of the book made me feeling like I was a nameless character watching my all successful girlfriends go through it with their thugs. This author filled in all the blanks without making the reader use their imagination. From cornrows to the ending jail house visits the author didn’t miss a beat. I read this book at work and was highly disappointed when my duties took me away from it. Round of applause on a job well done!

Admittedly, I was rather late reading this book & its series. With that being said, I'd have to say that Out of ALL the Books in this series I guess I'd have to say that this book was the most interesting given I liked the Roz/Tasha character the most of all the girls.
I 'm glad that the focus was on Roz more, but wished that her character would have been written to have stayed free from Tre, who so clearly bullied or forced himself into her life when Roz knew that it would be wrong.
Out of all the things her character had been through throughout her life I felt that she would not have been first sexually attracted to a guy who-AS WE FIND OUT THROUGHOUT THE SERIES IS A COMPLETE & UTTER MANIAC, ESPECIALLY IN BOOKS 4-6 of the series!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roz, who throughout the book is referred as Tasha, finally realized that she didn't want Tre to be in her life. But, WC wrote her to be NOT ONLY FORCED TO STAY IN A VIOLENT RELATIONSHIP WHEN TRE SHOT HER TIRES OUT, THREATENED TO SHOOT THE CAR WINDOW IF SHE DIDN'T UNLOCK THE CAR DOOR AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE HER EXIT. THEN, WC WROTE ROZ/TASHA & TRE TO HAVE GOTTEN MARRIED IN JAMAICA-AFTER HE POINTED A GUN AT HER??????! AND, ROZ/TASHA'S SO CALLED FRIENDS FELT THAT IT WAS BEST THAT SHE STAY WITH A PERSON WHO WOULD FORCE HER INTO STAYING WITH HIM AT GUNPOINT??????????!
Throughout the series readers find out that PERHAPS ROZ/TASHA SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN TO HAVE ESCAPED A VIOLATILE RELATIONSHIP WITH THAT CHEATING NUTCASE TRE!
Out of all four women, I liked Roz's character better. Angel annoyed the heck out of me as did immature behaving Kyra. I didn't really know what to think of Jaz, given I do not IDENTIFY WITH WHY A WOMAN WOULD BE UNDER A REPRESSIVE RELIGIOUS BELIEF.

I am disappointed with this book especially after the last book and the intensity of it and how it held me in its grip my entire read. In my world I just assumed this book would be the same, sit on the edge of your chair and not being able to wait to see what happened next and I really didn't get that at all.
It seemed that a lot of the story line was about the sex and not to much else. I also didn't feel like the women were as strong as they were in book 1. Even the ending didn't elicit a WOAH! that would have you not even being able to wait for the next book, and it really should have as it was a surprise and there are many unanswered questions. I will read book 3 but I am not really holding out a lot of hope for a great read. I sincerely hope I am wrong.

I liked this book better then the first book. I did like the stories of Trae/Tasha and Angel/Kay. I ended up reading books 3 and 4 previously so now some things are making more sense. However, I gave this book 3 stars cause Tasha really started to irk me with her back and forth. OMG. And why were these females doing so much crying? And I was confused by the whole arrest thing and who the snitch was. But I am still a fan of this author.

I read the first book years ago but I fell right into the groove of the story with the second installment. I really enjoyed catching up with Roz , Angel, kyra and Jazz but it seemed to be a little repetitive as the story moved along. Also there was way too many bedroom scenes which made me think I was reading erotica a few times during the story. For someone that likes erotica it would be a 5 star read but I’m into seeing the characters evolve and deal with adversity and how they make it out . Nevertheless overall it was a decent read and I will be reading the next installment. And I just have to say that I’m crushing on Trae like crazy. I loved his swag and his whole demeanor. Him and Tasha were my favorite couple . Hopefully the next one is even better. I would no doubt recommend this Author’s work.

I’m liking Wahida Clark’s writing style so far. This is the 2nd book I’ve read of hers and I love it! I’m able to feel the love amongst the characters and I’m enjoying all of their personalities. Of course, there are some charro that I dislike. The enemies (hater) that are trying to break them all down.

The title definitely ties in with the storyline. These men have real, genuine feelings for their women. The women are quick (some slower than others) to reciprocate. Don’t let their hustle fool you.

Great read!

My review in 6 words: everyone lives happily ever after...Sike!

I enjoyed this read. The only thing that kinda irked my nerves were the long chapters and that’s only because I annotate when I read. The plot was good. I just enjoy following the journey of all the couples for real. It seemed as though everybody got their happy ending but then here come the skeletons...Gotta open book 3 to see what happens next
