Hal Lindsey is known as the father of modern bible prophecy. However, after two decades of basking in the praise for creating this new genre of prophetic literature, it was quietly revealed that the books were actually ghost written by a mysterious C.C. Carlson. Recently C.C. Carlson began appearing on the back cover of Lindsey's books as co-author. But even today, few realize that the writer whose genius triggered this global phenomenon was a woman.
Carole C. Carlson has written over twenty books that we know of. There is no telling who is writing for whom in the dispensational community since the use of ghost writers and professional writers by the big names like Billy Graham has become the norm. In fact, one wonders if Hal Lindsey has written any of the books that bear his name.
While Corrie Ten Boom's life is amazing and inspirational, I found this book about her tedious. The writer states many of the same things about Corrie over and over again in different chapters. The first time it was interesting, but to come across the same concepts later on became tiresome.
Incredible testimony. Corrie was a woman of great faith who walked closely with the Lord. She submitted to His will and He used her— still is using her story! I was also struck with the courage and faith all the ten Booms shared. Books like these are encouraging and convicting.
I had heard the name Corrie Ten Boom in church but until I read this book, I did not understand who she was. So when my friend offered me a chance to read this book, I took it. I'm so glad that I did.
Carole C. Carlson was blessed to be Corrie Ten Boom's biographer. Ms. Carlson gives the reader a behind the scenes look at the life of a woman who loved her Lord and Savior with all her might.
I loved reading about Ms. Ten Boom - she may have started out small and weak but she loomed tall and powerful when she spoke out for the Lord. It would be wonderful to have more examples of her fervor in the world. She was definitely a force to be reckoned with.
I recommend this book to any Christian who has not heard of Ms. Corrie Ten Boom or to anyone who loves Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
This book is a tough one to review. There were times I felt it didn't flow well but at the same time to read the story of this incredible woman has changed my life. If you have ever struggled with God's purposes or love in the midst of tremendous trial this book will be a great encouragement to you. Corrie served the Lord mightily well into her 80's despite great suffering and loss. Her Life and Faith is a beautiful picture of what can happen in our lives when we choose to surrender our whole life to Jesus and forgive those who have harmed us.
Great book. A biography about a Christian woman who during World War 2, with her family helped to hide Jewish people. She was subsequently discovered and imprisoned in a concentration camp. After her release she gave her testimony of Faith around the World. What an inspiring book of Faith, Courage and strength. A book to be added to my "Forever" shelf.
Her life story is amazing beyond what my words could say. She lived her life for her Savior and Him alone.. If only I could live with Christ at the forefront of my life!!
This story of Corrie Ten Boom is written so different than many I have read and I enjoyed it tremendously. I saw several familiar stories about her told in a different way, giving a different perspective. It is lovely to read about the faith of the Ten Boom family and their persistence, even as they knew the difficulties and dangers of what they were doing. Faith and humanity stood tall and it is such a joy to read about. This is a story that will always restore faith in the world and bring dignity to those who need it.
I was just thinking about Corrie for some reason and this book crossed my path. I learned a few things that I didn't know before. What really made an impression this time around was her father encouraging the kids to memorize scripture because what they had in their heart God could use to bless them and others. Wow.
Corrie Ten Boom was an amazing woman who's love for God was incredible!! I enjoyed the book so much. I like that it did not portray her as perfect, but showed that she was human. Her ability to forgive is something I really needed to read. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!
I have read and re-read The Hiding Place. I have read Tramp for the LORD. Both were excellent and inspirational. This book fleshed out Corrie Ten Boom’s life even more. I’m so glad I stumbled across it.
Not just a rehash of Corrie ten Boom's books but, instead, offers new-to-me stories about her ancestors and their role in her family's beliefs and about her post war ministry.
