This is the story of Finn Thorsager, the first Norwegian to open fire on invading German forces. He escaped the Nazi occupation, fled Norway, and joined up with the RAF. He went on to have an illustrious war record as a spitfire fighter pilot.
Great book about one of the Norwegian Gladiator pilots who went up against the Luftwaffe on 9 April 1940 when Germany invaded Norway. It follows him on his escape from Nazi occupation across Eurasia to Canada where he joins the Free Norwegian Forces. After this he fought in Britain with the Norwegian RAF squadrons and later was a ferry pilot before the war ended and he went back home. This is a unique and highly recommended book that covers the lives and views of these brave men who escaped their country to continue the fight against Nazi oppression.
