Clair M. Poulson was born and raised in Duchesne, Utah. His father was a rancher and farmer, his mother a librarian. Clair has always been an avid reader, having found his love for books as a very young boy.
He has served for forty years in the criminal justice system. Twenty years were spent in law enforcement, ending his police career with eight years as the Duchesne County Sheriff. For the past twenty years Clair has worked as a justice court judge for Duchesne County. Clair is also a veteran of the US Army where he was a military policeman. He has served on various boards and councils during his professional career, including the Justice Court Board of Judges, Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, Utah Judicial Council, Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, an FBI advisory board and others.
In addition to his criminal justice work, Clair has farmed and ranched all of his life. He has raised many kinds of animals, but his greatest interest is horses.
Clair has served in many capacities in the LDS church, including fulltime missionary (California Mission) bishop, counselor to bishop, young men president, high councilor, stake mission president, scoutmaster, High Priest group leader, etc. He currently serves as a Sunday School teacher.
Clair is married to Ruth, and together, they have five children, all of whom are married: Alan (Vicena) Poulson, Kelly Ann (Wade) Hatch, Amanda (Ben) Semadeni, Wade (Brooke) Poulson, and Mary (Tyler) Hicken. Between them they have twenty-three children. Clair and Ruth met while both were students at Snow College and were married in the Manti temple.
Clair has always loved telling his children, and later his grandchildren, make-up stories. His vast experience in life and his love of literature has always contributed to both his telling stories to children and his writing of adventure and suspense novels.
This author always writes an exciting story with a whole lot of cheesy in the mix. I rolled my eyes a bit on the cheesy parts but overall the story was exciting and pulled me right in. Definitely worth the read.
Only problem with this book is I read it too fast, couldn't put it down. Typical Clair Poulson novel. Now I've got to see if there is any more of his books I haven't read yet.
This book is full of suspense and has a new twist or turn at every corner. This book is a mystery at every corner there is a murder or they are dodging bullets or getting a new car or uncovering yet another secret. That could get Donovan and Lauren killed. Who can they trust? Lauren doesn't know who to trust. And when she accidentally emails a person she hasn't seen for over 7 years. Will he come to the rescue or will he leave her stranded. He wonders is this a prank or is this for real? Should he leave the safety of Utah or go to Hawaii to see a girl he hasn't seen in over seven years? Should he leave his fiance?
I would recomend this book to anyone who loves a good suspenseful mystery. I loved the suspense in this book. I gave it a five star because I loved how it kept me at the edge of my seat, and I loved how it also included aspects of my mormon religion.
Lauren a normal girl with a great job uncovers a crime that could ruin her whole company. With people involved that she thought she could trust. What will she do? To find out what she will do you will just have to read this amazingly suspenseful book.
nyone that loves a good conspiracy theory, or just likes to see things from another angle should take a look at Damien Comerford’s Cover Up. This book will take you through a few of the most groundbreaking news stories of this generation’s lifetime. Although there’s already been a lot of talk about the investigations not being as thorough as they should have been Comerford’s book really takes a fascinating look at the stories which theories as to why they weren’t analyzed as they should have been. You might be floored by some of the information you read in this book. At the same time Comerford has a way of writing that doesn’t make the book feel like reading a stiff newspaper or documentary. Instead, you’ll find yourself enthralled by the topics and hanging on every word that Comerford carefully writes. I’d definitely recommend it to people who enjoy current events, conspiracy theories or investigative books.
What an exciting book. This has a lot of suspense, action and enough scary stuff to keep you looking forward to the next chapter - it was hard to put down. The author does a great job of interlacing church membership/activity and spirituality to add to the story. It is so good because you don't have to worry about terrible language or immoral activity. You knew who the bad guys were and then there were a few you didn't know until pretty close to the end, but you weren't sure how exactly the main character, Lauren, was ever going to get out of the mess she found herself in. But she did, the bad guys got caught and Lauren ends up with a "happy ever after" ending - which you knew, of course, was going to happen but it was still OK to read. Looking forward to his next book.
Poulson writes a good mystery - lots of suspense. I liked "Cover Up" but it wasn't my favorite of all the books I've read of his. This one was a little too predictable for me. The others I've read have completely thrown me off the trail, and I like being totally surprised, but he almost gave too much away in this one. I knew who the bad guys were from page 1, I knew who was going to fall in love with who by page 10, and I even knew who was going to be a traitor. So, too much information, but the story was still well written, and it was set in Hawaii which automatically earns it 3 stars. Not that I'm biased.
Somehow, I thought I had started reading this book and quit. Maybe I did earlier, but as I listened to the audio book today, I realized that I had listened to the entire book. My husband, daughter and I had listened to it together at some point. So perhaps now I have had three interactions with this book. The rating is probably 2.5 rounded up to 3. I think I prefer Poulson's books that talk more about police procedure...than this did. I don't know what this lacked exactly but I wasn't as enamored as i was with the last 2 Poulson books I read. However, I did like this story just fine.
I haven't been disappointed in any of Poulson's books. And Coverup is another fast-moving, exciting murder mystery. In this book a young woman discovers that some of the officers of her company are embezzling money and are out to ruin the company and then disappear. However, when they find out she is on to them, her life is in danger--and the lives of many people around her. It's a book I couldn't put down.
I liked this book quite a bit. I love a clean murder mystery! It wasn't my favorite of Poulson's but it was very interesting and kept me wanting to know what happened next. There were so many twists and turns! Unlike some reviews I've read, I was invested in the characters and cared about their outcomes. I liked that he didn't mix too much romance, just enough to keep it believable. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!
Although this book of Clair M. Poulson's was fairly predictable, it was easy to follow, had some suspense, and a good story. My husband and I enjoyed it as we listened to the audio version this week. It was one of his shorter books, so we listened to it in just a few trips to Show Low, AZ this week for doctor visits. It sure helped make our traveling more fun.
Definitely had its suspenseful moments and kept me guessing 'till the very end. And of course, it was sprinkled with a bit of romance ;) I admit, it was a little slow at the beginning, but after the first couple chapters, I could not put it down. I literally stayed up all night to finish it. Loved it! :)
I just finished this book today. I liked it alot. I am going to read more from this author. i think I will suggest this one to my book club next time it is my turn. Very similar in style to Betsy Brannon Green.
This book was...ok. It wasn't really believable, the dialogue and even some of the descriptions were super cheesy, and the ending was way too quick. It definitely wasn't my favorite of Poulson's books.
Poulson has a keen way of writing the emotions and thoughts of female characters that makes you forget that the book is actually written by a man. All the books that I've read of his are brilliant!
Another LDS mystery on CD from my mom. It was pretty entertaining and I was excited to get back in the car to see what would happen next. A little cheesy and predictable but I liked it.
This is not one of the authors best novels. It was too unbelievable and the characters were not likeable. Although I wouldn't recommend this book, I have enjoyed other books by Clair Poulson.
