It’s taken Audrey Regan years to establish herself as a wedding dress designer, and to date she’s been roped into creating dresses for nine of her girlfriends. Request #10 follows her vow to “Just say no!” and comes from her very best friend. She can hardly turn Carly down!

Audrey arrives in Atlanta early to perform all of her maid-of-honor duties along with final fittings for a one-of-a-kind dress. But Carly’s wedding is nothing short of an event, complete with Prince Charming, and the festivities make Audrey question whether there’s a prince of her own anywhere in her future.

Enter the groom’s brother and best man. Shaggy-haired, tattooed bad boy J.R. Hunt couldn’t be any more different from Prince Charming if he rode in on a Harley Davidson.  Oh, wait. He actually did ride in on a Harley!

I went into this book with the assumption that it would be a bit like the film 27 dresses. The title kind of gave me that impression and because I really loved that film you could say I sort of got over excited. But as per usual the title was kind of deceiving.

Audrey Regan has been into designing wedding dresses ever since she was a little girl, when she was just nine years old, her friends were busy playing with Barbie dolls, Audrey was creating “haute couture” for her dolls, so it’s not surprising that Audrey grew up and became a wedding dress designer. However everything’s not as easy as Audrey thought it would be, she took the chance and moved to New York, aiming for the big clientele, but it’s been tough, brides are typically going for the recognised designers and Audrey is just managing to scrape by. However with her best friend Carly’s wedding looming Audrey has to put everything on hold and fly out to Atlanta in the middle of her big chance of winning over socialite Kim Renfroe. But things go from bad to worse as Audrey’s big chance slips through her fingers and she knows her hopes and dreams of becoming a well established designer are fading away. While she’s in Atlanta however she meets her best friends fiancé’s brother J.R. who’s a whole different kettle of fish, for one he hasn’t stopped gawking at her but he also seems a lot different to the other guys she’s known.

The thing about this book was that everyone was so nice all the time, it’s like something bad would happen to someone but then everyone would gather around and cheer them up with a sleepover or something else pointless. I felt the bad things weren’t even that bad but because Audrey had all her “girlfriends” around her who she had known for all of two minutes everything would be hunky dory!

The secondary characters from Sherrilyn to Emma I didn’t really get the point of; their constant chirpy moods, knowing friends of friends who could work miracles, basically it’s frustrated me how everything always fell into place for everyone. Is it so wrong of me to want some drama or mayhem?

J.R. didn’t really do it for me either, I know he was meant to come across as a dapper hot guy who rides a Harley, but the only image that remained in my head was J.R. from Dallas, certain names are a no go with me, once I get a certain image in my head about a person it’s kind of hard to get rid of.

Some of the writing was also full of info-dumping, paragraphs and paragraphs about the amount of detail Audrey had to put into measuring mannequins, cutting and measuring fabrics then details about lunch, it was at times pointless. A couple of conversations also went down the same pointless track;

“Please be careful on the road J.R. I will
and wear your helmet.
I always do
oh, that’s right. It’s me who doesn’t she realised
with a giggle. Well zip your jacket and all that.
Will do, and you do the same”

“Dual head stainless steel head gas grill, Andy
continued without notice, with forty- five
thousand BTU, full rotisserie and eleven hundred
square inches of cooking surface. It’s the
champion of excellence and precision in grilling
my friend”

I wished I had liked Always the Designer Never the Bride more, but it had too many always happy characters and perfect endings for my liking.

Thank you Abingdon press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

There is something about the “Emma Rae” collection of fiction novels that makes me smile, giggle and upon the close of that last page, give just a tiny sigh delight and comfort…like enjoying a yummy plate of your favorite desert. Decadent, with just the right amount of fluff and sweet.

Oh there isn’t much to worry about, but having an old fashioned good time with this latest installment in the Emma Rae collection. Audrey is such a loveable, quirky character and one that you just can’t help but cheer for. A totally loveable ensemble of characters, including a little girl in pink cowgirl books put a smile on my face and joy in the moment spent reading their story.

I would definitely advise the reader to pick up the previous two novels in this collection. Just as much a hoot (though the first remains my fav), you will be better able to track the large ensemble cast. There were times I thought the cast a bit too large, but as the book continued, I separated them better.

More than one yummy kiss, some tasty entrees, gorgeous wedding gowns and just a quirky, light read, it’s a chick lit/romantic comedy I’d definitely point readers toward.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through CFBA for my copy to review.

Like the previous two in this series, Always the Designer, Never the Bride was scrumptious. Fun, light and fluffy like your favorite desert. I never expected to like these as well as I have, but I'm glad I gave them a chance.

I liked the interplay between the group of main characters as well as their continued development and growth from the previous book I read. The main characters Audrey and J.R. were not your typical, run of the mill couple falling in love and their somewhat quirky characters provided some interesting dynamics. I did feel though that the storyline sometimes got sidetracked in all the subplots of the minor characters.

#3 Emma Rae Creations

Although there were some interesting points about this book--learning more about the wedding design business, details about creating a one-of-a-kind dress--mostly it was a bit of a disappointment. I've enjoyed previous books in this series, but I found Audrey to be a less-than-interesting character. She's fairly aloof and, even when she's attracted to J.R., she still acts very cool and collected. It's OK to be quiet and introspective, but we don't even get to know her very well through her own thoughts. Mostly she thinks about her business all the time, with few mentions of any other passions. Actually, I liked her assistant Kat much better, and her friend Carly. Both women at least showed some excitement over their love interests. On the other side, J.R. was also very self-contained. Perhaps the author meant the focus to be on the business side of the story, but I was expecting a romance and didn't feel that there was anything there. The expected Christian was mentioned, but again, Audrey was uncomfortable with that, so it only seemed like a distraction rather than a true belief that would have added to the story. All in all, I enjoyed the read, but it was lacking and not my favorite of the series.

Here, I have to confess that I am an absolute sucker for entrepreneurial chick lit. So I'm biased.

You might think that the whole series qualities, which I suppose is true, considering that it centers around the businesses of the two original protagonists, and everyone else's businesses as well. But what I'm REALLY a huge, huge sucker for, is chick lit books in which the protagonist's business struggles are a central part of the plot. Emma Rae never struggles; everybody loves everything she touches. But Audrey Regan is not so lucky, which makes her journey much more identifiable and satisfying for me!

This book was hilarious, well-paced, and good fun. I'm also fascinated to report that Bricker continues what she began in the first book: "Christian fiction" that is actually just about normal people who happen to be Christian. The clinching example for me was in this book; this is really only a minor spiler.

I just really enjoyed this book. It was full of interesting plot twists and subplots. The stakes were high enough for a lot of different people that I was anxious to see where it was going and, even when I could predict where it was going, anxious to see it get there. I felt like the stakes were absent in the second book for the most part, but she outdid herself here!

The one flaw was the lack of dialogue for Fee's guy. Again, this seemed weird both because literally every other member of the various couples that make up this series, even the minor characters like Anton or Gavin, has a major role in some way and some kind of interesting ongoing narrative - however small it may be. Fee's guy has no lines, and I'm not positive I remember his name. Sean? Is it Sean? And wait, isn't he the only person of color in this book? No, I tell a lie, there are TWO Latino men, both of whom have great roles and lines. Which still reflects the state of race in America: predominantly white representation in entertainment, a growing sort of comfort with Latino characters, the occasional maybe Southeast Asian who is usually a doctor or a fool (looking at you, Boost Mobile commercials), and we just don't know what to do with black people or have anything for the rest of Asia.

I'll even give her the rest of Asia; I don't know how big the Asian community is in the South. But I DO know there are black people there, and it's weird that there's only one in these books and he doesn't have any lines even at major events in his own life.

It wouldn't seem so weird if Is it supposed to be a palate-cleanser after all the enormous splashy weddings? I don't even know.

All righty, having complained about that for like forty paragraphs, I will try to reassure you that this book really is great fun and well worth reading. For all that I have been enjoying the books I've read lately, I don't seem to have even one out of the last four that didn't have some enormous flaw in my eyes. Consider the latent racism to be a... realistic touch of the South... and it'll be... um... Well, just skip those pages. THERE AREN'T VERY MANY OF THEM!

I know after you've read a couple of the books in the series by Sandra D. Bricker, Never The Bride, you would think there would would be no more surprises and it would get old. No such thing! I really enjoyed this series and each time I found another in the kindle version and got it I really enjoyed it. This one starts with Audrey making wedding dresses for all of her girl friends Barbie dolls. She has her Grandmother helping her design and decorate them and then she is off and running! She ends up doing what she loves the most designing wedding gowns and must for each of her girl friends. She is on the verge of "making it" in the industry when she must leave town and go to the rescue and the wedding of another girl friend #10, expecting no more than to do this wedding dress and get back to her buisiness. The Tanglewood Inn and it's constant occupants who work there are like old friends each with their quirks but it takes a back seat to the Harley riding tattoed best man who comes riding in to ride away with Audrey's heart, so does this one end with her as a success? You'll have to read this one to see. I very much enjoyed it and read it in one day again.

Always the Designer, Never the Bride by Sandra D. Bricker
ISBN: 9781426732232
Audrey always dreamed of a wedding dress and the ceremony with her grandmother helping. She had the fashionasta bug and had relocated to NY where the action was, after her grandmother had passed away leaving her an inheritance that was almost gone.
She was on her way to Carly's wedding in atlanta-her best friend with hopes upon her return somebody would have bought her wedding dress gown design.
JR arrived on his motorcycle to be Devon's best man and has kept glancing at her through lunch.
When the ladies went to watch Carly try the gown on agian Audrey fears she has cut it to make it different.
Tragedy, Kim, hotel millionaire heiress doesn't like the design Audrey has drawn for her, she wants to see Carly's dress on the bride. Kim wants Carly's dress.
Ah the recipe for the wedding cake is included and others!
Love new things I learned: Marine Corps tradition at the wedding, technology of ordering at the 50's style diner.
And the ceremony takes place but a health issue arises... a major one.
Must be something in the water or the air, everybody is getting married.
Party was extended a few more days for them to enjoy their time together, giving those not married time to connect with their love interests.
Single people were at the Inn and before they knew what hit them, they were in love and some were getting married.
Each chapter starts out with important information about a specific topic of the wedding.
Like how the production of a wedding dress is done between Audrey and Kat working together to make it all happen. There are so many little details that in the long run are going to make it what they need it to be.
Shame they don't have a lot more time together as each of them must go back to their corners and work obligations.

Two years and three months ago, Audrey Regan left Atlanta for New York, hoping to make a name for herself as a wedding dress designer, but Audrey is in desperate need of a career break to keep her dream alive. She is now on her way back to Atlanta, to the Tanglewood Inn, where she will be acting as chief bridesmaid for her childhood best friend, Carly, whose dress she also designed. With Audrey is Kat, her assistant, and she meets all the characters from Sandra Bricker’s two previous Wedding novels, including J.R., the handsome Harley-riding brother of Carly’s new husband. But J.R. has a wanderlust that means he never stays long in any one place, which does not make him the ideal candidate for a relationship no matter what sparks there are between him and Audrey.

I have to admit that I got a bit confused with all the characters and their relationships once Audrey arrived in Atlanta, but once I got all the characters straight in my mind, I found Always the Designer to be an enjoyable novel, funny and heart-warming with likeable characters, with a sweet romance and without the bittersweet aspect of Always the Wedding Planner. I particularly liked Russell, the Australian movie star, who provided comic relief on the side. While this was a good read, it was not particularly memorable, but those who read and enjoyed the first two books in the series will no doubt want to read this to find out how the characters are progressing. The final book in the series is due to be published later in 2012.

As a fan of the previous two books , when I learnt that Book #3 was being released I knew I just had to read it and I would enjoy it. In Book #3 Carly is getting married to Devon at the Tanglewood Inn where Emma will be baking the Cake and Sherrilyn is the Wedding Planner so all that is missing now is the Wedding Dress Designer - Enter in Carly's best childhood friend Audrey. The pair's friendship is the same as we discovered between Sherrilyn and Emma in Book #2. Audrey, ready to make her friend's dress is worried that this may be her very last Wedding as the funds she recieved 27months ago when her Grandma Beatrice passed away has run dry. What Audrey needs to get back on top is to land the account of creating hotel heiress Kim's wedding dress but it seems that Kim has other ideas and Audrey is up against Wes who is one of the world's top dress designers. Can Audrey compete or is this goodbye to her career ?
As a familiar theme in the trilogy , all three girls do not plan to fall in love and become brides of their own but alas fate has another plan for them as for J.R - Devon's brother it seems he has fallen head over heels with a case of love at first sight for Audrey who we learm resembles somewhat of singer Gwen Stefani. Does Audrey feel the same or will this begin as a unrequited love tale ?
With the help of Tanglewood Inn , will Audrey's dreams come true or will she be offered a second chance at life and achieving them with Emma Rae and Sherrilyn's help ?
Another great installment and I look forward to reading other novels that Sandra may write our way.

Always the designer never the bride Book Review
Always the designer Never the Bride keeps the laughter going and the tears rolling, funny, romantic and damn well crazy. This book introduced a litany of characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. The third in the series, though I read as a standalone, this book brings to life every girls dream.

The book is set at the The Tanglewood Inn, a wedding destination hotel in historic Roswell, Georgia. The book brings to life Audrey Regan crazy and sad adventure in the world of Haute couture and romance - a wedding dress designer - who finds herself at the Tanglewood Inn, designing a dress for her best friend, Carly.

As Audrey tries NOT to fall for Carly's soon-to-be brother-in-law, J.R. Hunt –the rugged, fun loving, never stay in one place is the most unlikely candidate for a prince charming Carly’s Manoeuvres and fates crazy antics inevitably bring them together.

Always the Designer is a light, "make you laugh" book. You'll find yourself cheering on for the loveable cast at the inn. Although this book was cute I found in dragged on in some parts and I think it needed more editing, the writing was great but It could have been much shorter, I found myself skipping over paragraphs waiting for something to catch my interest. I found the ending to be bit fantastical everything wrapping up a bit too nicely.
However a solid book that sparks my interest for the rest of the series.

Sandra Bricker calls her fiction "LOL" or Laugh Out Loud Romantic Comedy for the Inspirational Market. I believe with the third installment of the "Always the... Never The Bride" series, Bricker has struck laugh out loud literary gold.

The novel, Always The Designer, Never The Bride, joins the others in the series - set at the The Tanglewood Inn, a wedding destination hotel in historic Roswell, Georgia. The novel continues the humorous adventures of Emma Rae and the crew (as previously published in Always the Baker, Never The Bride and Always the Wedding Planner, Never The Bride.

This time, the novel follows Audrey Regan - a wedding dress designer - who finds herself at the Tanglewood Inn, designing a dress for her best friend, Carly.

The laughs ensue as Audrey tries NOT to fall for Carly's soon-to-be brother-in-law, J.R. Hunt - the most unlikely candidate for a prince charming.

Always the Designer is a light, "make you laugh" book. You'll find yourself cheering for Carly, Audrey, Fee and the entire cast of characters at the Inn. You'll even love the cameo made by Emma's eccentric aunt.

In all, this novel is a solid four on the laugh scale. It's a great third book (four book series), but you can also read it as a stand alone novel. I'm looking forward to the last book:Always the Baker, FINALLY the Bride!

I picked this book by chance, never having heard of it. That's good. Had I known beforehand it was Christian romance, I probably would not have picked it up.
When reading it, I felt in a world in between that of Care Bears and Noddy, where most people are nice, super friendly and welcoming to each other. However the core of the story delt with the feeling of failure and difficulties that Audrey encounters with her business that she might well have to shut down bankrupt and her encounter with the brother of her best friend's husband. And that was very nicely done and convincing.
The encounters between H/h are definitely sexless, nothing happens besides a few kisses that are very innocent. I liked the dialogues and overall tone of the story. Some secondary characters seemed useless and I did not understand why they came that much into the story (Fee and Sean for instance).
I actually only started doubting that it was a Christian romance at half the book and there's only one scene of saying graces at table which I found a bit too long for my unfaithful preference.
I may well read another book of this author, one day that I feel like enjoying a sweet, easy and very proper romance.

So far, my favorite in the series! Welcome back to The Tanglewood Inn, all your old friends are there. Emma and Jackson are still engaged, Sherilyn and Andy are still hosting BBQ's in the winter, & Fee and Sean are still going strong. Then there are the singles, Russell Walker is back and we get to know J.R. better. And what would we do without Aunt Sophies words of wisdom, even if they are giving under somewhat questionable states of sanity. The new commers for this book include Carly and Devon, we met Carly at the end of the last book, and now we get to meet Devon as her wedding is only days away. Then there is Audrey Regan and Kat.

Audrey Regan is trying to break into the fashion world by designing wedding gowns, so when her childhood and Best friend Carly says she is getting married, what could she do but design the bride's wedding dress. She leaves her New York studio and heads to The Tanglewood Inn where she will be completely taken over by the magic of the place. There were so many ups and downs, twists and turns in this book, that I had a hard time putting it down. Can't wait for the next book to come out.

The hilarious gang from The Tanglewood Inn are back, and everyone will enjoy this title as much as all the extremely funny ones that came before!

This story follows Audrey Regan - a girl who used to design haute couture for her Barbie dolls when she was only nine-years-old. Audrey loved separating crystals and beads with her grandmother, even though her sister, Carly, used to get into all the little boxes and mess everything up.

Audrey is all grown-up now with a company of her own; she designs the most beautiful gowns in the world. Unfortunately, her business isn’t going anywhere. She invested her entire inheritance from her grandmother into her own line, and she is barely staying afloat. In fact, if she doesn’t land the contract for this latest wedding gown, she pretty much has to lay off her assistant and close the doors for good.

What she’s doing is heading down to Georgia to help Carly, who is about to walk down the aisle. Audrey designed the perfect wedding dress, and she pretty much figures that this will be her last vacation. After all, with this financial splurge, Audrey will then officially be out of money and heading to the unemployment office.

When she reaches The Tanglewood Inn, she meets up with the whole bridal gang including, Emma Rae who is the ultimate pastry chef and wedding cake designer, as well as Sherilyn who is the primo wedding planner, Fee and many, many others that fans have fallen in love with. Who she doesn’t expect to meet up with however, is a man by the name of J.R. Hunt who is the groom’s older brother and best man.

J.R. is a man who looks the Easy Rider come back to life. More than anything, he needs a shower, haircut and a shave. Riding into the Inn on his Harley, J.R. is there to support Devon, his younger and completely different brother who is, first and foremost, a dedicated Marine. Of course, when J.R. raises his gaze from his brother and is introduced to Audrey, he almost falls off his chair. Here is the ultimate platinum-blonde pin-up girl with all the right curves, and BRAINS, too! Let’s just say that J.R.’s Harley is not the only thing revving up when this relationship begins.

As always, add in a few minor mistakes, upsets, and friendships galore, and you once again have a light-hearted book filled with laughter and a whole lot of fun! Enjoy!

Until Next Time,
Amy
