I thank God for putting on the heart of Pastor Beni Johnson to put together this book about prayer. My spirit was leaping inside of me with joy while reading this book. I could identify with some chapters more than others but this book came at a critical time for me and has encouraged me too seek the Lord's face through prayer. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to take their prayer life to the next level.
This book is a collection of essays and excerpts from different writers about prayer. Since it is an anthology, the styles and attitudes vary from chapter to chapter; some are more useful and credible than others. Some seemed wise and trustworthy while others seemed misguided and used scriptures out of context. But, if you want to learn more about prayer and don't know where to start. It may give you an idea of some other books and authors that might prove useful to you.
I truly enjoyed reading this book. Very informative, and the different authors with their views on prayer, and especially their views on intercession. I would recommend this book to every church that has a prayer ministry or anyone wanting to increase their prayer life.
I love Beni Johnson and I love prayer, but I found the book a bit disjointed to be honest. The authors all gave their own take on the subject matter and it was filled with a lot of personal experience. I was expecting more scripture and more cohesion. Still glad I read it, though.
I learned about the different ways to pray and how God answers all our prayers sometimes he does not give us what we ask for but he has something better for us.
The title of the book definitely sets the reader "up" with anticipation. I was eager to gain more knowledge on how to take my prayer life to the next level. This book did not disappoint enjoyed the practical concepts and stories.
Even though I am not a charismatic Christian this book obviously was written by charismatic people. It does show what pray can and has done for people even though I cringe when they talked about praying in tongues.
One particular thing I like a bout this book is its practicality. One of the most complete prayer book compilation I've ever read. From the heart, the foundation of prayer, the techniques of prayer, and fasting. Your prayers work and they are powerful!
