The Deal: Ambrielle was expecting a warmer welcome when she showed up at Danny's doorstep in the middle of the night. But bleary-eyed, depressed Dany wasn't very welcoming, and the fact she just barged in and revealed herself to be his fairy godmother - with inside knowledge to every major and minor event of his life - didn't help things at all.

But Ambrielle is determined to help Danny whether he wants it or not. After a couple of blunders in the last few months, Ambrielle has been put on probation by the fairy council and she has only 24 hours to help Danny put his life back on track.

My Thoughts: The Magic Touch is an extremely short novella that can be read in about an hour tops - it only has about 33 pages - and I got it for free sometime a while back for my kindle but it kind of got lost in the shuffle, until I picked it up again.

It's a very cute story, I liked Ambrielle and her sassy attitude and the fact that she does care about her charges and isn't going down without a fight. Also liked there weren't romantic vibes with her and Danny, they were more like bickering siblings.

Because of the length of the story, the characters weren't that fleshed out but for what it was it was okay, and it was a freebie so YAY! - Though I think it's currently being sold at .99 cents in Amazon - I actually quite liked the style and if the author made a series about Fairy Godmothers, I would probably read it.

Ambrielle is a fairy godmother who is on probation from making one too many screw ups this year. In order to redeem herself, she helps one of her more stubborn charges who happens to be a bachelor. In all honesty, I did not enjoy this book at all!! From the beginning of the story, I just felt that I was thrown into the book blind and knew nothing about it. There was no sign of back story, prologue, or anything. Even though this book was 29 pages, it took me a few days to read it, just because I simply couldn't get into this book at all. There were a lot of things this book could've added that still could've made it a short story. The only reason I finished this book was so it could count towards my challenge(s).

As part of her probation, fairy godmother Ambrielle must clean up the life of one of her most screwed up charges--Danny. He is in a job he hates, just broke up with the woman he loves, and his life is only going to get worse if Ambrielle doesn't intervene, and soon. She is given 24 hours to set him on the right track or they both lose everything.

For a short story I found this to be a delightful read. I was witty and creative and I liked the dynamic between the characters. Ambrille could test anyone's patience. She doesn't quite grasp the intricacies of mankind, so she isn't exactly sympathetic to Danny's feelings, but she handles this ineptitude in a humorous way and I enjoyed every minute of it.

A lovely read!

This was a freebie short, but it was still meh. Spoilers, but not the fun kind I hate to be negative but even at free, this is not really worth the effort.

The Magic Touch was a good short read . I don't normally read books in this genre, chick-lit. It was a steady read, nothing truly exciting, but it did hold my interest. The lesson, I found in the book was to follow your dreams and get unstuck from your dreadful day to day existence. Go out on faith and see what happens!

This lovely short story by Dara England is well written. All book is quite sweet and enjoyable with witty dialogues. I liked the plot, it was very easy to imagine. Although the story is great, it must be noted that it is very, very short. You can read it with one or two sits! The end was quite week, I hoped something more juicy.

"The Magic Touch" by Dara England gets an extra star for being a free Kindle book as I am not sure I would have been as generous had I paid for it.

This is a (very) short story and as such, there's no time to weave interesting and intricate patterns into the character's journey. It's a bit "wham, bam, thank you Ma'am!"

Passed half an hour.

I was really enjoying this story, and then it just ended. I understand it was a short story, but I felt like I only read the first half. Just when the plot gets interesting, it abruptly stops. There is no sense of resolution. This ruined what may have otherwise been an interesting read.

This story was utterly pointless. It was pure drivel. I am not sure whether the reader is supposed to identify with the fairy godmother but I thought she was vile. She was self-serving, rude and arrogant.

The writing style was poor too so I shall not be reading another book from this author.

Nice little read about a man and his fairy godmother. I wish the ending held more to it...but this was an annoyingly cute story.

Well written and fun. This would make for a great series of short stories. I would have liked to see the reunion at the end though.

This is a cutesy short story. Just perfect for a long wait at the docotr's office, long drive or plane ride. Not a deep read, it's simply entertainment. Good for teens and youth.

The Magic Touch isn't so bad for a free kindle read. If you've got an hour to kill and nothing to do I would recommend it.

So-so.

A little contrived, and not my cup of tea, but an okay light read for a half hour. Doubt I'll read anything else from her.
