A delightful regency fantasy worth saving time for
I rate a book as an excellent read when I can't put it down until I reach the end. Even more so when an author produces a captivating mash-up of genres I'm not ordinarily a fan of. So kudos to her!
This story had me sitting up and reading until the wee hours of the morning with eyes that were burning and crying out for sleep ... it was that good. I finally surrendered with about 20 pages to go, which I couldn't wait to finish the next morning.
What's it all about? Well, thrown into a marriage for political and social gain, Odette and Jareth discover they have a lot more in common than they first thought. Theirs is a realistic slow-burn romance between two wounded people hiding big secrets. But you'll root for them all the way.
Throw in magical creatures, valiant knights, political intrigue, and special powers, and the story spirits you away on a rollicking adventure with twists you won't see coming.
The world-building is amazing and has one of my absolute favourite means of getting from A to B—teleporting. In this case by way of carriages (*big smile*). Where can I get one of those?
The story will hook its tentacles into you from the start and won't let up until the climax. Yes, a bit more detail on the plot twist would've been nice. But it doesn't take anything away from the story and satisfies this reader who doesn't like drawn-out tales.
This is the second book by this author that I've read and I enjoyed it from start to finish. It is easy to read, compelling, and highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book a lot!! Huge thanks again to the author for sending me an arc!!!Even though I was sick I still finished it in a few days!!! It was a really great mash of fantasy and regency!! With tales, curses, magic, and past lives, but with family names, honor, heritage legitimate and illegitimate children and their struggles and women who must wed in regency style!!! I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I really like how the story started and how I got more background on our main characters with flashbacks as the book went on!! I would love to read another book like this!!! Plus the spicy scenes and the growing relationship between my main characters gave me joy!!

The illegitimate daughter of a duke, passed off as legitimate to increase the number of children the duke can use to his advantage, is wed to a man she's barely met. So far, so Regency, but it doesn't take long to discover that there's much more going on beneath the surface of A Hero Worth Saving.

Set in a fantasy world of unusual powers and mystical creatures (including teleporting carriages that I very much wish were real!), the story follows the sweet, slow burn relationship between Odette, who has lost and sacrificed a great deal for the sake of an advantageous marriage, and Jareth, a warrior hero who wears his responsibility heavily. Along the way, family dynamics and politics sit side-by-side with physical dangers and secrets that threaten to upset the delicate blossoming of love at the heart of it all.

I really enjoyed the dual timeline of the book, moving between the present action and Odette's past. Once Jareth reveals his biggest secret to her, the 'past' sections take on even more meaning, and it kept me guessing almost right to the end as to which way the story would go.

The author has a great ability to paint a picture - I could so clearly see the stained glass, conservatory and library of Vallerdale Hall - and to tug at the heartstrings, moving me to tears at more than one of Odette's past struggles.

There is so much potential for expansion of this world and the abilities of its inhabitants that I hope there will be more books to come to flesh it out even further.

*Regency Era
*Fantasy
*Slow burn
*Magic
*Secrets

These are all of the things you will find in the pages of this book. Jareth and Odette's story had me turning page after page to unlock the secrets. K.T. Munson did a wonderful job giving us the past and the present simultaneously through the entire story, showing us the hardships each had to endure to reach the ending that I hoped for.

I really hope that she continues to give us more books with in this world she has created. I loved all of the characters, ok, maybe not all of them. But I found myself wondering what the their stories were as well.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read the ARC for this book. I can't wait to dive into more of what you have already and whatever you may create in the future!

I loved the Mashup of the two genres as I've never read a regency piece. I am now excited to explore that genre because I loved all of the elements in this book. It was those descriptive and elegant elements that made this book hard for me to put down.

I found this a bit confusing, going back and forth between the present and the past! Especially at the end.

I love how K.T. mashed up fantasy and Regency Era. I can honestly say I haven't read something like this before.

Odette may be the illegitimate daughter to the Duke, but as far as everyone else is concerned she's legitimate. After meeting him at 7 years old, he wasn't very accepting of her. She went to live with her grandmother instead where she taught and trained her to be the perfect lady. And when the time came, she was chosen to be someone's bride, but not just anybody. The Hero of Mount Vere, Jareth Chadwick. She knew nothing about him and was extremely nervous about this arrangement. She was afraid of her secret coming out, that she was the illegitimate daughter to the Duke and that she's a Mage. But like any good relationship over time, they grew close, and boy was it hot. They just couldn't keep their hands to themselves, and it was hot.

K.T. takes you on this wild adventure of Jareth and Odette's story. What starts off sweet and promising, quickly turns into secrets and lies. Throughout all the twist and turns my attention was drawn. Just when I thought all the secrets where out, Jareth hits us with another one.

Thank you, K.T. Munson for this adventurous novel. You combined 2 genres that I never thought I would read together, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would say the past to present got a little confusing towards the end, but once the story developed, it all clicked in, and I was surprised in a good way. It felt like 2 different timelines/books becoming one and I loved it.

“I will defend you even against yourself.”

Romantasy meets Regency.

For a duke’s illegitimate daughter, Odette seems to be the only truly noble person in her life. Her abusive father has promised her hand in marriage to Jareth, the Hero of Mount Vere, a man she knows nothing about. She is fearful of marriage to a stranger and even more fearful that he will find out her secrets- her secret of being illegitimately born, or that she is secretly a magic-wielding mystic.
Despite Odette’s fears it seems her life truly begins after her marriage to Jareth. He is kind, he is respectful and he is honest, all qualities Odette never expected in a man. As their relationship grows so does Odette’s understanding of herself and her new husband, and it seems that Jareth may have some secrets of his own.

This book was wonderful. It had adventure, romance, magic, alternate realities, action, SPICE. As the first in a series I found this to be very engaging and felt it set a good foundation to start exploring the world in the following books.

Having said that, I’m honored to have read this book before publication as I was provided an ARC of this book by the author. It’s release day was June 20th so you can get your own copy now and I highly suggest you do!

A Hero Worth Saving by KT Munson was a very fun book to read. I devoured it in one day.

In this story we follow Odetta and Jareth. Odetta is the illegitimate daughter of a Duke who is married off to Jareth the dragon slayer to further the Dukes political standing. Odetta fully expects this to be terrible, but is surprised when Jareth is kind and easy to fall for. As their relationship progresses Odetta becomes certain Jareth is hiding information from her. But she's not sure what.

The writing was engaging and concise. I found it to be very easy to follow and was never bored. The pacing was medium to me. Quick enough to be engaging but enough downtime to set up the next big plot reveal and give some information. I do wish there had been a bit more world building concerning the stations of the politicians and maybe more character involvement with side characters. I would have liked a more drawn out climax with the sinister plot at the end. Otherwise, very well done. I thought the two main characters were well developed and I definitely feel connected to them.

The ending plot twist was not something I saw coming and it was very well portrayed. I enjoyed the twist and have an a audible gasp when it all came together. I was satisfied with the ending overall.

I definitely recommend this book. It was a fun and engaging ride from start to finish.

K T Munson's A Hero Worth Saving blends familiar romance and fantasy elements with some unique twists.  The protagonist's journey is not only about external challenges but also a deeply personal quest for redemption and self-acceptance. The story illustrates the complexities of heroism, showing that true courage isn’t just about grand gestures but also about facing one’s inner demons. The character arcs are well crafted.

The world-building in this novel feels underdeveloped, lacking depth in its history and cultural context. Character motivations are believable and well-established, but the wider societal implications of the setting could be explored further, adding layers to the overall plot.  And, although the magic system is intriguing, it would have benefited from clearer rules and historical context. While the characters encounter various magic and extraordinary creatures, their interactions and the lore surrounding them lack specificity.

Despite these issues, the narrative is compelling. The pacing keeps the story moving, with enough twists to maintain interest. The resolution is satisfying, and romance readers will not be disappointed by the sincere, though sometimes awkward, developing love between the main characters.

The way that Munson crafts the world, has evoked such a wide range of emotions and kept a grip on me from beginning to end. I particularly liked how she brought to life the characters pain, the love, and the world that was around them. The realism of how much the MC couldn't trust because of all that she lost.

William... I had to side eye him a few times. Because honestly I couldn't trust him at first! I really was waiting for SOMETHING!

With tales, curses, magic, and past lives! It was shocking, the mixture of all of the elements coming together ! It was interesting how you bounced the story between the past and the present! Which is so unique and was done well!

I definitely recommend this book!
Overall, the book was an absolute pleasure to read. I just finished reading your book and I have to say, it was a true pleasure from start to finish.

"If I die I would choose you again" he kissed her passionately "I would choose you every time"

"We make choices and sacrifices. Those are not blood but our souls and our souls are our own"

If you like slow burn, magic, fantasy, teleporting carriages, and regency era then this book is for you.I absolutely devoured this book I read the whole thing in one sitting. It really did have me captivated. This book is the story of Jareth and Odette's it is one EVERYONE should read. I loved how this book switched between the past and the prest leading up to the story and how it ended . K.T Munson painted an amazing picture in this book and I could visualize everything and it was so easy to follow and like I said earlier very hard to put down.I would be lying if I didn't say I wish this was a whole series and that there was more. Can't wait to read more by this author .

If you enjoy a slow burn, the Regency era and a good fantasy read - this is the book for you! All three between a lovely book cover.

This was an arc copy given to me by the author. While I said I would need a month to read this book, if I had been able to stay awake after a long day at work, I would’ve easily finished this in one sitting. I really didn’t want to put it down but by 2:30AM I just couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. So as soon as I had made my tea this morning, I finish the last few chapters. Just wonderful!

The book is laid out with two timelines focusing mainly around the MFC. It reminded me a bit of the movie Sliding Doors at first, until a significant twist near the end, which I did not see coming! Soooooo good!

The only thing that I wish this book had was a little more world building, a little more explanation regarding the twist, and details relating to the secondary characters.

This is the first book by K.T. Munson I have read, however, certainly not my last! I was so happy to discover another Alaskan author. From one Sourdough to another, excellent job!

The start of this books has me already wondering what the rest of the story is going to be like… you have Odette the illegitimate daughter of Duke who has to marry…
The chapters are in both past and present, so you get to see what happened in the past to make the future Odette is living so special…
Then we have Jereth… swoon!!!
Who doesn’t love a man, that goes out and protects his lands and comes back to being a loving husband.. but.
He has secrets…
Odette has secrets…
I couldn’t wait to find out all the secrets and when I did, I was emotional, the ending was amazing!
The spice level is 1 for me.. the love scenes were sweet and beautiful..
if you love magic, monsters, romance and regency then this is the book for you!!

I really enjoyed this book! The author perfectly encapsulates the aesthetic and societal structure of the regency era while intertwining fantasy into the world. Jumping back and forth in the timeline kept me on my toes and painted a greater picture and provided more context to the current timeline, while keeping the story moving forward.
The book started off feeling more along the lines of a cozy historical fantasy with not very high stakes but towards the end, the twist really upped the ante and I found myself plowing through the last chapters, unable to take a break.
Reading Jareth’s and Odette’s growth as both individuals and as a couple throughout the course of the book made the slow burn romance more believable and palpable.
All in all an enjoyable read that bridges the gap between genres and hits upon many points that a variety of readers will love.

There was stuff I really liked, such as magical elements, the cliffhangers, and the revenge love against the main characters father. As well as the clear shift between past and present. There was also some time I didn't like such as the fact that there weren't as many mystical creatures shown in the book there was one like one scene that had creatures shown, but that's it. The magic stuff was all really cool, but I wish there was more within the world building. I can't wait for book two. I do hope there are more magical elements such as more creatures shown and people with magical abilities shown. Also, hopefully, there will be some cool fighting scenes.

A short review because if you even are slightly intrigued by the reviews you need to read you won’t regret it. A Hero worth Saving is a wonderful book involving Fantasy & Regency with Odette the illegitimate daughter of the Duke and Jareth the hero who will do everything in his power to protect Odette. This book is worth 5 stars for many reason but I think personally the storyline was beautifully told. As well as the spice scenes we’re great. I wish there was more to this book that is my only problem.

Oh my goodness, the twists and turn this story took I never saw coming!! It blew my mind, and I loved it. It was heartwarming to read the life of Odette and Jareth and what it blossomed into. That is the love one can only hope to find in a lifetime. Lady Minera holds a special place for me for the kindness she bestowed upon Odetta and how that helped shape the woman she became.

This was one of my few 5 star reads of 2023, and I am grateful to K.T. Munson for giving me the opportunity to dive into this world and explain the truth of a hero.

This stand-alone novel was a unique mash-up of regency and fantasy, with strong Jane Austen vibes. If you love Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy but wish there was a magical element, you will love this book. The spice level is relatively low, there is some on-the-page spice, but there is plenty left to the imagination. I found the characters and world very interesting, and fun to follow. There is a spot with multiple timelines that gets a little confusing, but it’s quickly cleared. All and all I really enjoyed this book.

I absolutely loved this book if you like a little bit of spice mixed with fantasy and based around the era of knights and such this is the story for you. I loved the romance instilled within an amazing fantasy based story, like it isn’t to smutty but also is slightly spicy I’m trying to avoid spoilers but I do have to say I truly love how the characters are written especially the main male character. I will for sure be recommending this story to anyone and everyone!

“We make choices and sacrifices. Those are not blood, but our souls. And, our souls are our own.”

4.25⭐️ This was a really sweet story with some twists thrown in. I loved the regency meets fantasy romance aspect. I appreciated the past flashbacks throughout the book that gave more insights to the little twists. I loved Odette and Jareth together so much. There were a couple of steamy scenes mixed in as well. I would have liked a little more details with certain parts of the books with how the twists came up. And more backstory on Jareth. But overall, it was a really good story.

This book was the perfect mix of fantasy and regency. There was a fantastic love story that was brought in through the main MC saving the main FC from her home and father. The journey they go through is amazing. The ending is everything it should be. I highly recommend this book if you want some fantasy mixed with love story mixed with some spice!

Well, I really loved MCs but the whole plot is just not enough. This books felt safe, just slight waives in terms of emotion, drama and plot. I think I just used to read something stronger with deeper emotions and I love such storms. It wasn’t unpleasant read but I will forget about it the very next day.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! I've never read anything quite like it. It has fantasy & magic while being a regency romance. I also thought it was cool having dual timelines & hope maybe there is still more of this story to tell. But who knows.

Don’t like the past and present mashed together

Maybe if the past had all come at the beginning of book and the present followed it might have been better, but I think it still wouldn’t have made any sense. The present alone would have a lovely romance. The past was like the author’s mind was flying all over the place and wrote whatever popped into their head. I will look at a sample of the next book and if it is written like this one I will check this author off my list of authors I like to read. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
