He’s her first and only lover but he’s stuck in a game of intrigue. A vicious father, lies, secrets, and shaky alliances threaten any semblance of love and family for them.

Jenna writes really good stories with awesome characters and dialogue that’s well crafted. This couple’s attraction is emotional and sexually they’re hotter than blazes. He’s patient while being totally male and she’s innocent but a vixen. I’m looking forward to the next book and hoping they get their well deserved forever!!.

Not a huge fan of cliffhangers, but this one is worth it! Irish mafia, undercover bodyguard, arranged marriage, revenge seeking, kidnapping (sort of), flaming chemistry- this book has it all. Can’t wait to read the conclusion! Jenna Gunn just gets better with each book she writes!

His Irish Captive is the first book in the duet and follows Carra and Kieran. It's a second chance, secret baby, mafia romance.

Kieran McGregor is assigned to guard Carra Coghlan the youngest daughter of Irish mafia boss Patrick Coghlan. She knows her life won't be her own as her sisters have already been forced into their arranged marriages. So on the night of her 18th birthday she knows it's only a matter of time before she'll be forced into an arranged marriage by her father a man she calls Father Prick. She wants to be able to decide a few things herself so she gives her virginity to her bodyguard Kieran. He's always made her feel safe especially after he saved her from an old nasty associate of her father.
Days later her father delivers an envelope with a smirk then walks away it turns out to be a message from the person her father gave her too but no clue who it is. In need of help she thinks of Kieran only to discover he's gone.
This is where the storyline really gets ramped up. It is a fast paced, emotional with mystery, danger, suspense, romance and a secret twist with one doozie of a cliffhanger. I'm dying to see what happens next in the conclusion of their storyline in Her Captor’s Secret Heir.

I loved this Irish Mafia retelling of the Bearskin fairy tale.

Kieran and Carra have great chemistry but a world of issues working against them. How would you feel if your father traded you to a man and you didn't know who he was? Could you give up seven years of your life for someone else?

Jenna Gunn takes a step away from her usual first responder/law enforcement heroes and gives you a dark, brooding bodyguard willing to do anything to give the woman he loves a future safe from the danger her father creates.

My heart breaks for what Carra endures over the years and the secrets she is forced to keep.

Hold on for that cliffhanger because it is bound to create real issues for this couple just when they have barely had a chance to mend their fragile bond.

I am so excited for book two!! If you like Jenna Gunn's security and firefighter series, you will love this departure to a darker side.

Jenna Gunn steps away from her usual hero and rescuer tropes with this Irish Mafia story that keeps the readers enthralled in the tale of a bodyguard’s love for one of the Mafia daughters. She does a great job of weaving romance, drama, and danger into one awesome read. As always, her characters have such depth and chemistry.
Mafia stories are usually not my preferred trope, but since I am a fan of this author, I wanted to read it. I’m glad I made the choice to step out of my ordinary novel trope and venture into this emotional, passionate, and heartwarming voyage! Kieran and Carra’s story is well-written and captivated my interest and my heart. I am impatiently looking forward to the second book of the duet.

This is such a good read.
Kieran has been Carra's bodyguard for years and the chemistry between them is off the charts but she is a Mafia princess.
One night together is perfect but can they have more than that if her father finds out.
I loved how they were together and how Kieran will do anything to have her.
Can't wait for the second book to find out if they can get their HEA.

Carra is the daughter of a ruthless mob boss. She lives a sheltered life cut off from the outside world. She is no mafia princess though because her father loathes her. Now that she is eighteen, he plans to marry her off in order to gain more power. She's nothing but a pawn. Kieran is Carra's bodyguard. He knows that Carra is off limits but the more time he spends with her the more he realizes that he can't let her be married off by her father. They brake the one BIG rule and developed feelings for one another. In their world, that can get someone killed or worse. They ended up getting the or worse option.

Carra is a good character because she has a growth curve. The authors did a good job showing how she started out as a young woman without life experience and little backbone but developed into a woman with a mind of her own. She also becomes a nervous wreck because of the games her father plays with her. I am interested to see what the authors do with Carra in the next story. I am guessing she has some pretty serious issues she is going to have to deal with. Kieran is interesting to me because he is a cautious man, but he was willing to make a deal with a man he did not trust at all. I want to understand why he would agree to the deal given what he knows about Carra's father. I think it was good that he and Carra had to spend time apart. It gave Kieran the chance to become a man with the power to take on the mob and protect Carra. I was so upset at the end of the story, but I won't say why. What I will say is that it was an excellent (and infuriating) cliffhanger.

I have a couple of issues with this story. If her phone can be tracked easily now, wasn't it also easy to track seven years ago? How did she not have some idea what had happened to him? I know the reasons that the author included in the story but it's a head scratcher. Is it possible she was really that cut off from reality? I also had an issue with his secured line to talk to his handlers. I felt like the authors contradicted themselves at one point. Either he can't search the internet safely without risking detection or he can use the internet to reach out to his handlers. I am hoping that the authors give some kind of explanations in the next book since this is a serialized story, there is always that chance.

This is a contemporary mafia romance set in Chicago, New Hampshire and Columbia. This is a guard and mafia princess story. I will definitely read more from these authors in the future.

Kieran McGregor is glancing at Rory and they shake their heads. When Kieran threw his adopted sister Caroline a party when she turned eighteen half of the people landed in jail for fighting. This is the lamest party he has ever seen.

Patrick Coglan is a greedy self-serving idiot and instead of the Irish mob boss celebrating his daughter Carra's eighteenth birthday he was using the opportunity to make deals with other criminals with a jazz trio playing in the background.

The Irish mob's most powerful men were on one side of the room and their wives were clustered in groups on the other, but his focus remained on Carra, the guest of honor, and his security responsibility for the evening. Unlike her sisters, she isn't dressed for a party but looks like she is going to a funeral.

Rebelling against her father makes her even more interesting to him, but he can never act on his interest. It would be too dangerous for her. She is the most beautiful of his Boss's daughters and he would put her life before his even if it wasn't his job to guard the three girls.

Carra Coghlan is the youngest daughter of the Irish mob boss. She had just stepped onto the balcony for some fresh air when a man speaks. Niall Murphy had followed her...determined in getting her alone and she shivers in revulsion at his sexual suggestions as he tries to pull her away to make them a reality. She knows that she is now a commodity to her father to marry off and prays that Niall isn't her future husband.

But her bodyguard Kieran is there to save her and when he escorts her to the garden she asks him for a kiss. She is determined to have one choice before her father sells her to one of his mafia friends.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. I will warn you first that this is book one of a duet and there is a HUGE cliffhanger. There are a few secondary characters that are very important to this storyline and I hope they end up getting their own story.

This book is action-packed from cover to cover. It is full of danger, twists and turns, intrigue and suspense. I love that this story is told in dual POV because knowing the secrets that both are holding adds to the suspense. This story is smoking hot and just when Kieran feels he has control he is told something that shatters everything he felt for Carra.

Highly recommend and cannot wait to see what happens next!

This book is part one of a two book story, the author clearly states this in the introduction, the author also promises that in the second book the couple will get their HEA and that it will it be out shortly.
Carra Coghlan was a mafia princess, she led a lonely life, she was the total opposite of her two older, outgoing sisters, the only companion that she had was Ariel, the cook. Carra knew that when the time came she would have an arranged marriage, a marriage without love but one that would form a profitable alliance to suit her evil, controlling father, the most powerful and hated of all the mafia bosses. Unknow to Carra, someone had her back, Kieron, her ruggedly handsome bodyguard had been secretly in love with her and he would protect her with his life.
They had one magic day together after her eighteenth birthday party, a party that was more like a funeral, Kieran showed her what loving someone could mean, things that she could only dream about but then Kieron disappeared, had her father found out and had him killed, had Kieron tasted the forbidden fruit and decided that it wasn't what he wanted ?
Carra was to wait many long years before she got an answer, the Kieron that returned was not the Kieron who showed her what love could be like but the mind-blowing chemistry was still there choose how much Carra tried to fight it, What was Kieran's plan? what was he hiding from her ? could she keep her secret from him, how would he react if he discovered it ?
I really enjoyed this short story and am looking forward to reading the conclusion.

I enjoyed this book. If you want a romance with a guiltily hot guy and a girl who has some sass, this is a good place to start. Our male lead especially hits the hot spot for me, with a good amount of brooding and sex appeal. The chemistry between our two leads is also quite good, especially later in the book.
The writing is good and although it is fast paced, following along with what is happening is easy. The con of fast paced being? This book is about 128 pages, meaning some things that probably should take a little longer to unfold, are slightly rushed.
If you like that kind of read, then there is no problem, if you are hoping for a little more drawn out drama, this is probably not the best book for that.
Obviously this is a short book with a cliffhanger ending, so don't expect the world, but you can most assuredly expect a small island or continent.
My biggest hang up with this book.... I feel the female lead is a little young. There is a reason for her barely old enough status and I do accept that, but it definitely held me back from fully accepting her character for the first bit of the book.
Overall, I enjoyed the mob angle, the male lead, the story, and the sex appeal.
Try it. It won't take long and it can definitely scratch an itch.

Ehhhh. I skimmed a lot though. Well written, but I felt like try storylines were sort of cliche, done a bunch of times before, and the h was awful. TSTL most of the time, even though the author did a decent job with explaining away most of her awful decisions and grating personality flaws lol. Had some emotional moments. The H was awesome, but somehow never killed anyone? Despite being a bodyguard for the mob and then uncovered for 7 years, and also a prized street fighter lol? The h basically had to put her kid up for adoption to a close friend’s sister and has had minimal contact with him. He is 7 when the H finally gets to meet him and things go down (this is all in the second book, not this first one.) the author does a great job making this feel HEAish despite the kid already having a nice family who is hesitant to “give him up.” Still not the hea I personally like in stories like this. This is probably a 4-4.5 star read for people that really like the “secret baby but several years later” trope, but it’s hard when the h hasn’t been raising the kid by herself, obviously for good reasons in the book, but not super fun to read about.

Gosh…I don’t even know he were to start! Carra is a mobster’s youngest daughter. She gives her virginity to her bodyguard, Kieran. She wants to experience something good before her father marries her off. Her father somehow finds out and uses her as a bargaining tool to get Kieran, the bodyguard to take the fall for the family’s crimes. He has Kieran arrested before he can explain the bargain to Carra. Carra ends up pregnant and alone. She thinks Kieran abandoned her. She finds a way to have her baby and protect him from her dad. Seven years later, Kieran returns for Carra. He is shocked that she is extremely angry and not really happy to see him. Despite all this, he loves her and vows to protect her. Carra doesn’t tell Kieran about their baby. Kieran also doesn’t tell Carra his plan to free them from her father. I wish these folks would communicate but it’s just not meant to be. Will they get it together in the next book? I sure hope so. They have so much potential.

I loved reading this book it was amazing, the storyline was fantastic with the love of a captive and the characters were really sensational. This story was about Carra and Kieran, Carra is from an Irish Mafia family. She has been trapped in the house until her arranged marriage, on her eighteenth birthday she wanted to loose her v-card to the person she wants. About seven years later she has been taken from her house and now surrounded by soldiers in another house. Kieran was her driver he went everywhere she did, he made a deal with her father and when he was on his way to tell Carra he was taken away. He has fallen for her and it only got stronger while he was away, and now his there to claim her. These two have so many secrets, seven years worth of secrets, what will happen when these secrets come out.

Wow! What an amazing book that you won’t want to leave down! This is the first book in a two part. Carra is a mafia princess who has a bleak future ahead of her, until her bodyguard, Kieran, grabs her attention. After sharing a forbidden night of passion together, Kieran knows he will do anything to protect Carra and make her his own, even if it means disappearing for years. Carra is devastated when she realises Kieran is gone, and years later when he turns up to sweep her off her feet she can’t forget that he left her, however she is hiding a huge secret from him that will change their lives forever. A fantastic book that will have you hooked from the very start. Amazing characters with electric chemistry between them, with some hot, steamy passion! A great storyline, with some twists and turns along the way finishing on a huge cliffhanger! I really can’t wait for the next book.

Carra and Kieran’s story is emotional, intense and enthralling. It made my heart ache, evoked some tears and even some gritting of teeth. Carra is a pawn in her heartless father’s game and Kieran is a man determined to claim her for his own and protect her. So much has happened to them both since the one perfect day they spent together in each other’s arms. Now, seven long years later, it is finally time to claim her for his own, even if Carra now seems uncertain and unwilling.

Their chemistry is hot enough to rival a solar flare, their love deeper than any ocean (though she does her best to deny it), and his determination to protect and claim her unrivalled. Their love is so powerful, but can it last? Is he dead? This book will have you shivering from the very first chapter. Such a powerful read. Kieran loves Carra so much that he will do anything to have her, to protect her, to love her. But disappearing for seven years without a word destroyed Carra . He’s back, trying to pick up where he left off, but it’s like that train just went into the sunset and dropped off the edge of the earth. Kieran has thought of nothing but Carra since he left her, but Carra is lost without him. This book will break your heart because Carra is Kieran’s entire life. Soulmates who are separated for too long. Can they get that feeling back? You can’t put this book down. There is just so much love, fear, uncertainty, destruction, and sacrifice that it will tear at your heart. And the cliffhanger? Oh my gosh. Great, great book.

Engaging Mafia story and a well written collaborated story of two authors. I love Genna Gunn's books, and this has the characters and feelings that engages me in her books that's in a dark romance. This story is about Kieran her bodyguard/driver who hungers to take down Carra's father, Patrick Coghlan, and Carra a mafia princess who he falls in love with. When Coghlan offers a deal to take a fall for a heist and he will give Carra to him, Kieran agrees. Seven years later, Kieran kidnaps her. What occurs is an engaging story that I enjoyed even though it ends with a cliffhanger. I liked the characters, the angst, drama, the twist and turns, and the titillating romance in this Mafia romance story that I received, and I volunteer to read and review.

This book was a fast paced read, a lot of action and happenings. The characters were powerful and interesting. It is in the Irish mob environment and the danger is there beyond the cliff.
The main characters really fit in with the storytellng, the book was hard to put down.
The story unravels nicely and it keeps you guessing and isn't predictable. This is Kieran's and Carra's story, plenty of mystery and where they do everything to protect the ones that they love and care about.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I am eager to read the next opus in the series!
I'm grateful to the author to have gotten the opportunity to read this book!
I can defintitely recommend this read.

This is the first book in the series and ends in a cliffhanger, so beware. With that being said great book, really looking forward to seeing how it ends. Carra is now of age so she now that it will not be long before her father marries her off to advance his reach and power. Kieran has been her bodyguard and from the first meeting has wanted her, when her father offers her and a large sum of money to him, he takes the offer. The condition is that he has to go to prison for a crime he did not commit. When he just disappears, she never expects to see him again. Then she realizes that she is pregnant and her father and given her to be married, the problem she does not know who that is.

Author CLEARLY lets you know that this will end in a cliffhanger with an HEA in the second book. I really appreciate when an author states that up front!

This story is an attention grabber, for sure. From the beginning, I felt vested in Carra's story and her struggles. She is feisty, which I really like! Kieran is her perfect match - he's protective, alpha, and loves her endlessly. The action is great, the characters are fantastic, and the steam and twist and turns kept me flipping the pages! I can't wait to read their next book! I was sent a complimentary copy and I am choosing to leave my honest review.

Kieran is Carra's bodyguard but on her eighteenth birthday they cross over a line that should not be crossed. Life in a Mafia family is never simple and Carra knows that her life is governed by her father and she has no choice but do as she is told. She knows that her father is the reason Kieran has disappeared she just doesn't know how it will impact her life. After seven long years of waiting Kieran has finally returned by Carra is not giving up on her plans to get away from her father. This is a fast paced story with lots of secrets. The ending is a cliff hanger and I can't wait to see what happens in part two of this duet.
