Murder, Lust, Corruption and Betrayal

‘In a perfect world without greed or ambitions there exists no anarchy; this is not that world.' ~ Alfonzo

This book left my heart in tatters. I’m talking chest caving in, I can’t breath somebody get me an oxygen tank my pulse just dropped. S.W.Frank is officially an auto-buy author for me. Just when Alfonzo thinks he’s out he gets pulled RIGHT BACK IN.

When a drug called Anarchy floods the streets and becomes the drug of choice for rich college kids in America. Alfonzo finds himself looking for the man behind the dangerous pill. So dangerous in fact that kids are dropping dead from it. While vacationing in Miami, Jessica, Alfonzo’s cousin is with her friends Beth and Vicky, when all three end up in the hospital and one girl is pronounced dead. Alfonzo with the help of one of his workers, Emilio gets Jessica to a safe location away from prying news reporters and police.

What Alfonzo does not know is that someone seeks to take him out. Someone wants his coveted #1 spot. Rumors of Ledgers resurface…ledgers that hold money, power and respect all rolled in to one.

“What is this good-faith?”
“The traitor’s head within 72 hours.”
“Or?”
“Or, anarchy will not come from a drug. It will be a torturous and sobering reality.”

My Thoughts
ACTION PACKED!!! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!! Alfonzo is THE MAN! I love him! We get great secondary characters/stories with Jessica and Emilio these two bring some youthful spice as well as the drama.
“My brother Domingo’s actually the crazy one. He’ll shoot you and ask questions later.” Jess to Emilio

What will really catch readers off guard is the betrayal of two characters that Alfonzo trust with his life. I speculated… but when it happened I was CRUSHED.

FAVE Line

‘Love, you are more than a mobster’s wife, you’re his heart and soul!’ -Alfonzo

My Ratings
Characters- Love some hate some
Writing Style- Excellent
Plot/Storyline- Excellent, nail-biting-edge-of-your-seat EXCELLENT
Steam Factor- HIgh/Very Steamy
Overall- LOVED IT!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

My heart is completely SHATTERED right now.... I'm not quite sure what to say. All I know is that I am experiencing an emotion that has yet to be defined.

This 3rd installment has left me..
Photobucket
Photobucket

Then, I thought I need to prepare to do something to a certain character. To 2 characters actually...
Photobucket

Then finally I was left throwing my tantrum...
Photobucket

Now that I have briefly returned to my senses, I can finally say, if an author of a story/series can evoke such strong emotions from me across the spectrum then they have certainly done their job. This book, nay this series is well worth your time people. And I highly recommend that you read it.

This 3rd book has blown me away as you can see. This story was on point across the board. In the writing, dialogue, action, emotion, passion. The drama! OMG! The drama! And the way everything unfolds and comes together. As hurtful & shocking as some things were, it was still executed beautifully.

This one I must say is the Darkest most Decadent read of this series so far. Alfonzo, you think you know him from the previous 2 books? Let me tell you.. You know nothing of this man and what he is truly capable of until you read this book. And what we learn in this book, I fear is only the tip of the iceberg. If what is to come next is anything to go by.

READ THIS SERIES IN ORDER! You will be totally lost if you don't.

On to Volume IV!

About time something is done with Dominick, if he'd only left Alfonzo alone then maybe he'd been able to work with him. Can't wait to see what he does with his new friend. Out of all the possibilities...really Nico? What in the world is she thinking. I hated this part of the read. I really wanted it to be just a dream and someone awoke and smacked the heck out of their self. I can't imagine what Alfonzo will do but I have a feeling he already knows. With all the technology I wouldn't be surprised to find out he has something inside. Then Nico...he was all on Franky and now look what he's done. I just hate this part of the read.

We begin with our Mafia Don Alfonso trying to live a regular life with his wife and kids however; we all know there is nothing regular about Alfonso. A new manufactured drug, the death of a senator’s daughter and foiled murder attempt on a family member are just some of the things that pull him back into the life, which may cause undue stress on his family. He gets wise council from his uncle Alberti who lets him know that in this life if you want things done right you have to do them yourself and in true Al fashion he takes the reigns and gets the job done. While Al is working on finding the person responsible for the new drug and settling old scores he runs into and old flame who may cause Al to stray. Selange on the other hand, with her husband working so much in such dangerous situations finds herself getting closer to another man, and this situation has the potential to blow her marriage and her life sky high.
This book was action packed and so full of drama and suspense that I found myself wanting it to never end. The story was so good; I just could not believe it! I just about screamed when I found out what Selange did with the most unexpected person, I was like WOW! You just blew my mind. Al was his usual “take charge I am the man” self as always in this book but he also showed us he matured; now I can’t say the same for Selange. I had a hard time understanding why she did what she did, and with whom. I really really did not see that coming. I didn’t even know they were that close. It floored me. If the author was looking to shock the readers, great job, but that’s what I love about a good book, you just never know what is going to happen next.

Story: GOOD
Intimacy Level: NICE/GOOD
Enjoyment: GREAT

First off, another great read and I want to say thank you to the author for another good volume and addition to this saga as it unfolds. I have to admit, with each volume I'm wondering, is this the volume that will lose my interest? I am here to say so far so good.

As the story came to a finish, I thought, what the hell just happen? The author definitely stirred the pot and went there with her characters. My review for ASCENSION: Alfonzo Volume II, was about loyalty. What ever I said in that review, you can throw out the window, because things just got complicated and Selange, wow. Really? It seems she surprises me with each book, in this case shocked me. I just know there will be hell to pay later. The story has the usual characters and a few new players that I love. It's so hard to believe that Alfonzo is still so young, even though he has matured more and is the proud father of two kids. He still brings it for me and I really like his swag, should it be nice, sweet, sexy Alfonzo or business don't mess with me Alfonzo.

As much as I was interested in Alfonzo and Selange's story, and the secondary stories taking place I enjoyed them, however, I love Emilio and Jessica's story. Emilio works for Alfonzo and Jessica is Alfonzo's cousin. I was glued to what was taking place between them and find myself wanting to hurry and get to their storyline. They had that forbidden chemistry love thing going on with a very reluctant Emilio.

Overall, another great read for me and I can't wait to see what will take place next. I smell Karma, so if you know you did something, watch out.

This series is a fast paced, sexy, emotional thrill ride that is so fun it will keep you on your toes (and have YOU talking out loud – sometimes screaming at the characters and vowing to rain down fire and brimstone on the author). So many twists and turns. … Get it, read it! … I’m sure you will love it.

There is no rest for the weary

Alfonzo is still fighting forces in New York, Bayamon, and Italy. This new drug that is killing people hits close to home with Alfonzo's cousin. Nico is out to take out all involved and Vincent is the dutiful bodyguard to Alfonzo.

There is trouble for the young couple, with Alfonzo being away so much. He's having temptations. When Selange needs him the most on the anniversary of her mother and his uncle's murder, she turns to another. OH, SELANGE, SELANGE, SELANGE, you in trouble girl! That is all I can say about that.

5 stars for being thought-provoking and dramatic
4 stars for entertainment and overall plot

I am a sucker of mafia-like movies or shows. I run a Godfather cinema-therapy every couple of years. Or have a Scarface movie day. Or a Mobsters marathon! Currently Boardwalk Empire, an HBO series, has caught my interest. All that said, this Alfonzo saga is epic and fits right up there with the best of them[ It's like a movie, I tell ya!].

It is a different experience reading a story steeped in the bloody, suspenseful and romanticized mafia world. Scenes zip by fast, and characters, villains, innocents, or rats, get whacked. Recurring or new characters either grow with importance to the plot or blur in familiarity to colour the background. S.W. Frank is good at including all of this while still keeping the reader on edge.

In this installment of the Alfonzo series, Anarchy, the plot centers on Alfonzo's acceptance of his fate and what he can actually do with his ill-wrought legacy. He is content to hold this awesome power so long as his wife is by his side--so long as he can still have a family. However, Frank is ballsy with this transition plot because it is evenly doled out with pivotal scenes of Alfonzo's growing potential as a Don and increments of secondary character motivation:from interesting and surprising, new side-relationships to the ponderous yoda-tactics of the veteran, Alberti, a man who is like the silent, yet omnipotent force that keeps Alfonzo Giacanti-Diaz's power afloat.

Before you know it, dramatic irony renders you speechless as revelations abound. You feel like the author is jerking you around, playing with the preconceived notions with which you have comfortably attached to familiar characters, and analytically, you know this has to happen in order to keep the drama.

S.W. Frank sure does keep the drama alright. My only qualm remains with the character, Selange. In Vol.I, I thought she was left underdeveloped, forgotten. Her initial pomp and circumstance not living up to the words in the image at the end. Then, in Vol.II, she gained some headway as a contending character, but she was still over-shadowed by how her husband and other men viewed her. It's a little irritating and shines a dubious light on the heroine that is hugely eclipsed by the attention on the hero.

So, in the end, here is the status quo: war is far from over; ascension to power is but a fledgling thing; and secrets are created in a stealth that is both acute and numbing. No character is safe. Not even Alfonzo.

So, who wouldn't read the next one?

I'm still hooked.
Onward.

It's On Now

Three down five more to go. This is a winner and I am loving the blue eyed Rican/Italian more and more with each book. I'm still amazed that I am enjoying this mob compilation so much.

Never mind the fact that Alfonzo tries to stay out of trouble, it just keeps finding him. A considerable amount of his time is spent with him walking the fence. The time has come from him to choose a side. His wife Selange proves it in this one and truly shows that she is a ride or die chick and down for Alfonzo. We do get a twist in this book that left me speechless and eager to read the next part. Now that the couple has two children, protecting and keeping the family safe is high priority.

All the major players come back and I welcomed them. Once again, Don Alfonzo must make a statement and solidify his standing as a leader. No drugs under his watch; will this be upheld or will it get tested? Just like the previous novels, Ms. Franks is getting better with each book. As with the predecessors, I can’t wait to start the next in the series. Once again, the treachery, bloodshed, loyalty, and family ties are present and accounted for. I get to take vacations to various places without leaving my house. Keep up the great work.

Selange is a head case.

The female lead was never properly fleshed out enough to suit me. Her place of birth and extreme circumstances are not enough to get me to like her. Three years after starting the series I've gone back and looked for a thread of who is she and what is good and wonderful about her? Being from the projects, choosing education over that life and becoming a teacher does not define a person. This book deals with her response to the most traumatic event in her life. The fact that Amazon always deletes it from my tablet means they see it as the weakest story in the saga? It is the most pivotal but the method of getting there is weak.

This series has just gotten better and better as it goes along. Book 3 was just so shocking. I didn't expect Selange to behave the way she did at all. I have to give it to S.W. Frank, she really threw a curve ball that came completely out of left field. Emilio and Jessica were nice additions to the storyline. They bought a bit of the youth and laughter to the story. Alfonzo continues to come into his own, and is really starting to own his Don title. I'm sure the next chapter will be equally as good, or even better.

I am really dumbfounded right now because i cant believe what i read I give it a 3.5. That shit just came out of left field and im pissed. She is a liar and a cheater with no justification for doing it. That put a damper on my love for the series because i dont want to read every book with her lying and going back and forth about her loving two men! How is that possible when nothing was going on with them in the 1st two books. I just think it was unnecessary to write that in. Im 50/50 on Alfonzo finidng out because we have either listen to her lying ass or see Alfonzo hurt like never before.

Wow I was all set to get the third book until after I read the reviews. I don't think I want to read about the infidelity of Selange. I was really starting to like the characters especially Nico. I thought this series would be like Sienna Mynx's Battagalia series, where the characters were fiercely loyal and the two main characters were deeply inlove. I can't invest in a female that cheats on her wonderful husband. Not even in fantasy land.

Okay book 3 got my attention.

I knew there was a reason I did not like Selange!!! Lord have mercy on top of everything that is going on in their lives this woman shows her true colours. The sad thing is that somebody is going to have to pay. I love this other character very much and I think its a shame because if you mess with the Don he is gonna make you pay!!!!

I will have to read book 4 now to see how Alfonzo takes his revenge for Selange's total act of betrayal!!!
