Rhiannon's Law #4

Edge of Darkness

Rate this book
Ride the road until death sets you free.

Rhiannon Murphy fled New York following the horrific events that ended the lives of those she loved. In the months that have passed, she and her vampire lover, Gabriel Trevellian, have pooled their talents to kill half-demons that have ruled the vampire world for centuries. On the brink of regaining control, they learn things are not so simple.

Marigold Vesta is no longer content in Hell. Due to the terms of an agreed upon bargain, the fallen angel is preparing Rhiannon's body for early possession. If that's not bad enough, Lucifer is aware of the trade and wants Rhiannon's soul.

The only option is to turn to Bane, an arms dealer who offered Gabriel an alliance to recapture the city. The man isn't human and has a personal connection to Rhiannon. When she learns why the deadly being entered her life, she must decide to ride the edge of darkness or bask in the glory of the light.

With the clock ticking, every choice counts.

This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, violence, and situations that some readers may find objectionable.

2021 UPDATE & Blurb!! It’s completed!

Is this ever going to come out?!?!
I am dying for a Rhiannon fix!
Forever waiting...

Yes, I will still wait forever.

Aug 2017 Update: Holding on to hope. And still waiting.

July 2019 Update: Guess what?!? Yup, waiting. Thing is, I'm still willing to wait. :)

May 2020 Update: I have purchased the rereleased first 3 ebooks in this series and am just as eager for the next book. Which, if you follow her on Facebook, you’ll see she is still putting out books and the next Rhiannon book is still going. Slowly, but I’m here for however long I need to be. :)

Whelp, I'm not impressed with the author's 'excuse' for not writing/publishing this book because 'the other books were pirated so I'm done.' Uh. Huh. Welcome to the real world.

My take is that she wrote herself into a terrible corner and can't figure out how to fix the series, so she blamed online book pirates for her lack of foresight or outlining.

Either way - she's lost a reader for every other book she writes under every other pseudonym. Which, by the way, I'm pretty damn sure have ALSO been pirated in some way. Again, unfortunately, that's the real world.

And by the way, thanks for punishing those of us who actually PAID for the rest of the books in the series.

UPDATE FEB 2019
I think everyone officially stopped giving a f*ck. Including me

UPDATE MAY 2018.

So, I was going through my list of 5 and 4 star books to find out if I'd missed a release from a good series, and stumbled upon Rhiannon's Law. A small part of me was still hoping #4 would be out already, but alas.

I feel like this book is never going to happen, unfortunately.

*Thoughts*

Edge of Darkness, by author J.A. Saare, is the fourth installment in the authors Rhiannon's Law series. This book picks approximately 5 months after The Ripple Effect. The first thing I ought to say is that I am happy that the author didn't give up on this series even with all of her personal ups and downs. Even though it took 10 years to finish and release this story, the wait was definitely worth the time. I do recommend that you have some clue as to what has happened to Rhiannon since this story began. Thus, with perhaps mild spoilers, let's summarize. In the beginning, Rhiannon Murphy left Miami in the middle of the night not telling anyone where she was going.

Found this blurb from her blog this evening: "I've gotten several emails about this subject so I wanted to address it here. Yes, Rhiannon's Law is not available for sale. Why? I've had numerous people comment on the editing and such of the novels, therefore I've submitted the MS to publishers. So far one has taken a bite and I'm waiting for more information. I'm hoping others might as well. I revisited the material and revised it, so I hope the books are better for all of you. I'm also working on (and have been working on Edge of Darkness). If all goes well you get Rhiannon's series soon. I love this character and want to do her justice. Since the rights have been reverted to me I've been visiting other avenues to release the stories."

So it looks like we will be getting the book(s) eventually just a matter of how soon, I really hope the expected date here is accurate :)

Just read on her blog that she is re -releasing the first three books (with added dialogue) first and THEN releasing #4. So looking at 2015 or 2016. Sad about the wait because I just finished The Ripple Effect, but it'll be worth it! Hopefully, this will make her books easier to find. I'm a traditionalist...no electronic books for me ;)

Meh.
Hard to keep interest, unlike the previous books in the series.

Worth the wait

Despite events that have turned her life inside out, Ms Saare has created a novel that packs a punch. I loved the growth /dynamics of Rhiannon's and Gabriel's relationship and the fight scenes were awesome thank you, an amazing read.

Needed this book!

I'm crap at reviews mostly but ill do my best here... This book was a long time coming. I 1st read this series 8 or 9 years ago. I remember being consumed and loving all 3 of the 1st books. I would check periodically over the years For the 4th book, this book, That never came. Though, I understood that the author Had a lot going on in her personal life, And took time off from writing. It would still leave me disappointed. I Eventually gave up Looking.

Even though edge of darkness came out a little over a year ago, I knew I had to give myself some time to read it. Not for anything bad but because I knew I had to reread the 1st 3 books And the 1st time I went through those I was consumed for about 4 days lol But now that it's all completed I wish I had done this sooner! I had forgotten just how much I loved this story. And I am forever grateful to the author for writing this book and releasing it.

With all that said, If you like me I read the 1st 3 books all those years ago, DON'T WAIT ANY LONGER TO DIVE BACK IN! This was a fantastic continuation of Rhiannon and Gabriel's story. You'll remember how much you needed it and you won't be disappointed! The story picked up not long after the last book. And The story Continues with Beautiful fluidity from Last 3 books. I was worried that wouldn't be the case with the time difference between books. But that wasn't the case at all.

As for the story... Rhiannon grows, we get answers we needed, and her and Gabriel grow too. Their love and bond solidify in this book. I wasn't disappointed with anything! I spent 4 days consumed with this series, and hope the author will give us more of these beloved characters. I will devour the next one too!

Quick note, the ending raps up everything we needed as readers for the story lines in the previous books. But whoa does it end with an intriguing new character and Possible future story for Rhiannon! Not a cliffy Per se, Just a good teaser for some future good reading!

Hopefully she writes it! Reminds me so much of Anita BLake Vampire Hunter series, except with less "personal" scenes.
Hopefully she puts it out on ebook or somewhere...as said in last book due downloads, who knows if it will be written, dont punish your fans!!!

I would have given this 4 stars, because of how dark the first half was, but I really enjoyed what we learn in the second half. But that ending? Does that mean book 5?
