Marcella longs to help Katrina, the leader of the Five Protectors, in any way that she can. In order to do that she needs to hone her skills and learn every kind of magic that the peaceful races of witches, warlocks, wizards, and elves possess. Once she reached the magical Kingdom which holds Niranjana’s home, she finds everything is not as it seems; that dark forces have penetrated the protections, and put everyone there in danger. Now Marcella must do something that she vowed she would never do; journey back to the underworld.
Marcella is another exciting, magical journey, by Elizabeth Loraine. New characters are introduced to us along with another new world. Take a taste of Royal Blood Chronicles with Marcella.

I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years. After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard can that be? Well.... But I stuck to it and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have ten books and three novellas in the Royal Blood Chronicles, two in Phantom Lives, three in the adult dystopian Pathogen series, two in h thriller/mystery series Silken Ties, with Corporate Ties and Thorns of Revenge and 25 books in total. My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, study and do it right. I believe that and live that way every day.
I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I myself wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long lived beings. Where had they been what had they seen? I wanted, no I NEEDED to know more so Royal Blood Chronicles was born! As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop
Marcella, Vampire Mage is a delightful, whimsical novella with a magical forest full of fairies and unicorns. Our heroine is utterly perfect in her innocent, caring nature complete with super-hearing, super-vision, strength, speed, near invulnerability, not to mention being able to wield magic and power blast and without any of the flaws of the stereotypical vampires. Flaws are usually what make a character fascinating, because we, as readers, can relate to the flaws and I honestly couldn’t find any flaws with Marcella. With the simplistic dialogue and whim sic nature of the story, I almost pegged this as a Children’s book with Marcella acting and sounding closer to 12 or 13, though the ending does go relatively dark. I worried that the rest of the series might also be in this juvenile nature (I started with this volume because I was trying to clear short novellas off my Kindle), but reading through the first chapter of the excerpt at the end of the book (as one of the other reviewers suggested, 4 sample chapters was a bit much. I’d consider cutting it down to 1 or 2 since the person who downloaded feels a bit cheated when the Marcella story stops at 50 percent and we have sample chapters from there on), the rest of the series feels aimed at an older audience (Which is good. Marcella, though sweet, felt too young for my tastes. And I had been expecting a vampire novel with the usual gothic atmosphere). I did love the character of Kaer and would love to see him continue to pop up in the series. The character of Morna, though barely a footnote, intrigued me and made me wonder if he was the typical Legolas elf or if there were hidden depths to his character just waiting to surface. I did enjoy reading Marcella’s story and experiencing the dreamlike fantasy world through her eyes and would recommend this to those who love their fantasy stories chock full of unicorns, and fairies, and elves.
I am late in my review as I read this several (3 - 4 years ago), but here goes! I met Katrina in the novella Marcella, Vampire Mage. In Katrina the Beginning I got a glimpse into Katrina's world and couldn't wait to continue the series.
In the series list it shows this being book 3.5, but it takes place a year after book 3, and Cain is already free (which doesn't happen until book 4) this felt thrown together,I did enjoy the story, but could have been better planned out
