إنها حكايات فتاة من منطقة جميرا في دبي خطّت بيدها تلك المذكرات النابعة من مراهقتها ومغامراتها مع تطور شخصيتها، وبذلك يضم هذا السرد توجهاً كاملاً لجيل جديد يعيش الحياة برمتها وبحسب قول المؤلفة “إن قصص الكتاب حقيقية استقتها من الواقع وجمعتها من أناس مختلفين تحت إطار يوميات فتاة واحدة هي الساردة ذاتها”.

There is only one word to describe this book

Irritating

I don't know where to begin with this review ...

Perhaps I can start with saying that this book is horrible, it is nothing more than a false portrayal of Emirati women, those specifically those who live in Jumeirah.

Now I'm not saying that the events that occurred in this book are false and would never happen, on the contrary I've heard similar stories myself however this book is a pile of exaggerated stories that can't possibly happen to that extent and all to one person.

I honestly was not expecting much of this book, just by the cover and the title made me cringe but I told myself to read the whole thing so that I wouldn’t have to judge it by it's cover

The content were just as horrible as the cover

Lets talk about the cover first since it right in your face.

This cover deeply offends me; it does not portray Emirati women whatsoever. I won't deny that there is a large group of Emirati Women who adopted this style, however those types of groups aren't exactly the majority of the Emirati Women and honestly, in my opinion they are not good representatives of Emirati women or the Emirati Culture to begin with. Many Emirati women still wear the abaya as part of their culture and have added subtle fashion statements to them.

I know many people found it just as offensive as I did

What irritated me more is that the author gave this response in a newspaper interview, which described the cover as


A Barbie-like character adorns the book’s cover, dressed in a figure-hugging abaya and shayla, holding a BlackBerry smartphone in one hand and a Dior handbag in the other. She also dons a pair of pink sunglasses while balancing what is widely called “camel hump” hair that has been aided by the gambooa’a, a hairpiece worn beneath the shayla to create a distinctive beehive effect.




This is what the author had to say when asked about why she choose this to represent Jumierah Emirati girls


“She is what a typical Jumeirah Emirati girl looks like, whether they like to admit it or not,” says the author





I don't know which Jumierah she lives in but that is completely false! I am someone who lived in Jumierah and I look nothing like how she describes the Jumierah Emirati Girl. My family lived in Jumierah and none of my cousins look like this. Most of my friends live in Jumierah and they do not wear a figure-hugging abaya and shayla and none I repeat none of them sport a gambooa’a or a "camel hump" so the author has no right to say that this is the correct portrayal of all Jumierah Emirati girls.

What frustrates me is that Emirati women try so hard to break the stereotype that has escalated that all Emirati women look like the Barbie in the cover and some have been succeeding. The author basically tramples on all that effort and proves those false stereotypes right while they are indeed wrong

Lets move on to the actual content of the book:

so this book is supposed to embody the thoughts and lives of a typical Emirati girl living in Jumierah. A lot of chapters are utterly pointless, they add nothing to the plot and have no relevance to the story whatsoever. The book is pretty much eventless for more than a half of the book, nothing is happening to move the plot forward! There is no story structure where in as I mentioned, more than half way through the book and nothing goes on and in one chapter the protagonist was able to do the following:

- Go out with her 'friend' Rashid
- Go to Jumeirah Road after parting with her friend
- Recall when she saved someone from a burning car
- While remembering, she got into an accident
- Woke up from an 8 month Coma
- Be able to walk again



Dear God the protagonist is so stupid! One of the stupidest protagonists that I've ever had the displeasure of reading

She then gives us a scene where she is basically in university and is failing her typing exam, so what's the solution? Her friends log her into a chat room "Heart chat" to be precise and wouldn't you know it, a few hours in it and she was able to pass her typing exam with flying colors.

Oh and get this she says that she now has a "masters degree in heart chat"



She does not grow or develop, one of the guys that she met on heart chat was blackmailing her into meeting with him after she had sent him her photo *roll eyes* she realizes that he is nothing more than a player and a liar and regrets her decision to have a secret relationship with him. A few chapters later, we find her getting ready to sneak out of the dorm to meet with another guy!!

Not to mention that this book is so extremely shallow

Lets get some examples:

First off she tells us that she, "like all women" chose their friends based on materialistic things and looks


yeah... let's ignore that shall we?

What irritates me more is that there isn't any conflict in the story, and if the protagonist happened to get into one, it gets resolved as quickly as lightening. Everything gets resolved for her and she misses the bullet every single time while her friends are the ones that always get caught and get into deep trouble

and speaking of her friends...

she has the most messed up friends ever!

I can just give you one example to prove my point that her friends are nuts:
This is basically a very quick translation of the beginning of a chapter

"What would it feel like to get raped? How do the victims feel like? Why do they get traumatized? I want to know how does it feel like?"

I was like Wait …..wait WHAT! What the hell?! Who in the world thinks like that?

and wouldn't you know it, her friend get raped in the same chapter



Story structure is none existent, plot points are skimmed over, almost nothing happens and the protagonist is stupid

Edit: If people are going to start commenting about this book being the author's first book therefore it shouldn't be as good, save your breath because there is no excuse for a bad book whether it is a writer's first attempt or their 50th .. A Bad book is a bad book, plain and simple

رغم احترامي لابنة وطني ومنطقتي "كلثم" الا انه برأيي المتواضع كتابها كان مخيبًا للغاية! فما يوجد في طيات هذا الكتاب مجرد مذكرات تليق بيوميات تكتب في مدونة على الانترنت ولا يصلح طباعتها في كتاب!
في الواقع احببت بعض افكارها وبعض المشكلات المطروحة الا انها فشلت في ايصال الفكرة بالعمق المطلوب للوصول إلى الاقناع! الكتاب سطحي جدا و افكاره غير واضحة خاصة للقارئ غير الاماراتي
فكل مشكلة مطروحة يجب ان تشمل كل جوانبها! اسبابها واعراضها وتاثيرها وفي النهاية حلولها! كل هذا باسلوب ذكي غير مباشر بالتاكيد! وهذا ما كان الكتاب يفتقر إليه

اصدر الكتاب على انه مجموعة حكايات الا انني لاحظت الترابط بينها من ناحية وتناقض الرسائل المراد ايصالها من ناحية أخرى. وذلك ما اشعرني انه حائر لا يعرف هل يحمل في صفحاته حكايات ام رواية مقسمة ومتناقض اطرافها!

يؤسفني ان الكتاب لم يكن لائقًا بعنوانه الذي يحمل اسم أجمل مناطق العالم. ولكن أتمنى أن تكون هذه عتبة تستفيد منها وتخطو عليها الكاتبة الشابة كلثم صالح للوصول إلى الأفضل ان شاء الله

أول ما جفته في معرض أبوظبي للكتاب ما خذته لأنه الغلاف عطاني فكرة عن محتوى الكتاب !

جفت وايدين مدحوا الكتاب ..وقريت تعليق في تويتر يقول (خسارة الورق اللي خسروه ع الرواية)

ومع ذلك خذت الكتابّ!

أحداث مخربطة ولغة جدا عادية ..ما انصح به

كتاب غريب، لا هو رواية و لا قصص قصيرة و لا خواطر و لا كتاب تدريب الذات!!! لم يوجد للكتاب خاتمة مفهومة فقد توقعت ان يغلق الكتاب على شخصية الفتاة التي وجدت المذكرات! الأسلوب جميل في الكتاب فوائد معدودة.

شدّني عنوان الكتاب، وكنت أتوقّع أني سأقرأ كتاباً فيه تفاصيل كثيرة عن هذه المنطقة الجميلة، وربّما تفاصيل أكثر عن حياة المراهقات والفتيات السرية، الا أنني فوجئت برواية سطحية تتكلم في عموميات يعرفها كل من يسكن في منطقة الخليج، بدون أي أحداث أو حبكة فنية أو عقدة درامية

لفت انتباهي شيئاً من العنصرية تفوّهت به الكاتبة ضد أحد الجنسيات في الدولة (الفلسطينيين)، رغم أنها لم تذكرهم صراحة، ولكنّها عرّضت بهم بشكل واضح، واتهمتهم جميعاً بأنهم نصّابين وليسوا أهلاً للثقة (ماكلين من خير البلاد) :(

شدني غلاف الكتاب واقتنيته من باب تشجيع المواهب الإماراتية الشابة ودعم لدار كتاب للنشر، ولكن للاسف المحتوى كان محبط بدرجة كبيرة للأسف، فالمقالات سطحية جدا ولايوجد بها أي عمق ولا رسالة واضحة.
مااستغربت منه هو تصدر هذا الكتاب لقائمة الكتب الأفضل مبيعا في العديد من المكتبات داخل الدولة لعدة أسابيع، السر يكمن في التسويق طبعا!

وهو في نظري يتكلم عن جيل 2000 الى 2005 أما الجيل الحالي فقد طور ممارساته

كتاب سطحي جدا غير مفيد أبدا ,كنت أتطلع من خلال عنوانه لشيء أكثر عمق و للتفاصيل عن سكان جميرا لكن لم أخرج منه بشيء فحتى لو نظرت اليه من منظور انه رواية فهي غير مشوقة أبدا ولا أظن أن محتوى هذا الكتاب سيجذب أحد حتى المراهقين!!

من أسوأ ما قرأت طوال حياتي، لا أسلوب ولا منطق ولا حتى تنوع بالكلام. تكرار بلا معنى، ودعاية لبعض المحال في دبي والتي لا تحتاج لمثل تلك الدعاية السمجة. أرجوك يا كاتبة لا تكرري التجربة.

رواية لا أنصح بها أبداً
سطحية و لا تهدف إلى شيء
تبيّن لي ذلك منذ الصفحة الأولى ولكني واصلت القراءة لعلي أرى ما يجذبني !!!


يبدو أنها تطمح للشهرة فقط .. و وسيلتها كانت إصدار هذا الكتاب :)

it's a good book,not bad,not great,just good,average good. I enjoyed reading the short stories. What's so good about it is that it totally describes what happens in some young local girl's life. Truth is: we've all been through some similar incidents. or perhaps it was more of a diary to the writer,so i don't see it as giving a bad influence or reputation to Emirate young women as remember its all based on personal events.Good job Kltham.

اعتقد اني وجدت أسوأ كتاب قرأته في حياتي. نعم انه ميد إن جميرا.
خربشات كان الأحرى بها أن تظل في درج كاتبتها. تقرأ ولا تعرف ما انت بقارىء! لا هي قصص ولا مقالات ولا شعر ولا خواطر ولا حتى يوميات طالبة كما حاولت الكاتبة أن تظهرها. العتب على دار النشر التي تنشر أي شيء لأي أحد ليقرأها أياً كان!

كتاب لا يستحق النجمة .. بصراحة اشفق على الشجرة التي تم قطع اوراقها لتطبع عليه هذه التفاهات

... أتمنى أن يكون للكاتبة قادم أفضل

كتاب "Made in جميرا " يعد أول تجربة للكاتبة لكنه كتاب ممتع، يحكي قصة فتاة تجد مذكرات قديمة وجدتها في حافلة الجامعة وتقرأ القصص والكتابات التي وردت في هذه المذكرات.
ينوع الكتاب بين مواقف من الحياة وبعض القصص والخواطر، كتاب خفيف على القلب ممتع لقضاء وقت الفراغ مع احتساء كوب من الشاي.

It shocks me that books like this are published.
The book is narrated in first person, then suddenly jumps to third person. Lol wut.
Don't get me started on the grammar. If it was written via Microsoft there would've been a better outcome.
A waste of time.

الكتاب ليس رواية و ليس مذكرات يومية ، وانما عبارة عن كتاب لنصائح و دروس في الحياة ، لنقل عبارة عن مواقف و العبرة من هذه المواقف .. لكن النهاية لم اجدها كافيه حيث لم يتم توضيح ماذا حدث مع الفتاة التي تقرأ الكتاب في الباص في طريقها للمنزل

نصحوني في قراءته، ولكني ندمت على قراءته
هو كتاب غير مفهوم ، البدايه كانت مقنعة مثل الروايه ولكن بعد ربع الكتاب اصبح الوضع غريب كأني اقرا كتاب اخر
عدم تسلسل الاحداث أو وجود حبكة في الكتاب جعله كأنه عبارة عن افكار متخابطة

توقفت عن قراءته بسرعة بسبب المغالطات المعلوماتية و الاخطاء الاملائية و الافكار البسيطة جداً والتي لا تحتاج لكتاب لتغطيتها.
أتمنى ان ارى اعمال اخرى للكاتبة بمستوى أعلى.
