Shorts: Five Free Short Stories
I started writing short stories before I started writing books because I assumed that if I had short story credits then literary agents would take more notice of me. This is not necessarily the case but I did find that I enjoyed writing short stories. The five short stories below are between 2,000 words and 4,000 words.
Assassination in Washington D.C.
An assassin waits in a hotel room in Washington DC. Four people sit at separate tables outside the restaurant below. One of those four people is his target. Each person has their own problems and each of them could potentially be the target. Which one of them will it be? The assassin never misses so one of them will die, that much is certain.
Summoning the Wrath of God
One man in a desperate situation in America asks God to intervene on Earth. This man is just an ordinary man but unbeknownst to him he knows how to pray and his prayers are special. What he prays for could affect the lives of seven billion humans. Does he have the right to do this? The only person who can stop him is a holy man in India.
The Civilization of the Ravens
Professor Magnar Amlish stands waiting in a room in a university on Northland. The university is situated at latitude 81 degrees North and the view out of the window shows tropical rainforest stretching down the hillside towards the Polar Ocean. Professor Amlish is due to talk to a small gathering of scientists and politicians. He has discovered a record left by one of the last humans 25 million years ago. What will he tell his audience?

Picasso shares a bottle of wine with another artist. The other man is one of the most talented artists on Earth and his paintings sell for huge sums of money. There is a problem however. The man with Picasso was never meant to be an artist; his destiny was to be elsewhere and do other things. What was his destiny and how has this changed the world?
The Devil Came Down to Georgia
A seventeen year old girl follows a man down a beach on Sea Island in Georgia. When she starts to follow the man he appears to be in his forties. Further down the beach when he approaches two girls he looks to be just twenty years old and later his hair changes from a very dark brown to Scandinavian blond. Every person they pass on the beach is scared of the man and some of them are very scared of him. The girl feels no fear; there is a connection between her and the man in front of her. What is the bond between them and when will she have to honor it?
