Juliet always knew she was different. Not only because she could see auras, but also because her own aura was unlike any other she'd ever seen.
When she enters Winterwood Academy, a school for those with magical traits, she expects to find answers, but things aren't so simple. Books offer little guidance, and even the teachers can't explain the meaning of her white aura. When a theory finally comes to light, Juliet doesn't believe it. She can't.
That's not her only problem. Her best friend Jack is in love with her, but she has her heart set on someone else. Adrian, a werewolf, is as handsome as he is dangerous. Her friends warn her away, but she doesn't listen, even though she knows there's a chance she could get hurt.
The school year becomes an adventure entwined in old-fashioned balls, playing with fire, music, mysterious vampires, and challenged relationships. Through it all Juliet needs to discover not only what she is, but also who she is.
M.E. Timmons is a university student living in Nova Scotia who writes fiction in her spare time. Her favourite genres to write include fantasy, science fiction, and horror, and yet her stories always end up with a little bit of romance mixed in. Sometimes a lot. Eternity is her first completed book, and a sequel is in the works. For more information, see her facebook page.
Okay, let me start off by saying that this wasn't that bad of a book. It was fast-paced and easy to read. However, more often than not, I found myself become exceedingly frustrated with this work of fiction. It's a cheap spin on the Harry Potter series. Those who possess magical qualities recieve letters in the mail that say they've been accepted to special boarding type school. Except, the main character knows that she is special because she can see auras. She is really arrogant about the whole thing too. She's always saying stuff like, "I'm an amazing piano player, but I hate playing other people's music because it's boring. I know thay I'm extremely beautiful, and super smart, and way better than you, I just usually try to hide it."
I really didn't like Juliet very much. If you couldn't tell.
I also didn't like how it was written. Most teen books are simplistic and to the point, but I don't think I've read a book that is this blunt in how they explain characters/events/plot twists/love scenes/the climax. So annoying. I feel like it could have been expanded another 100+ pages by added details and explaining things better. Especially the end. The last 20 pages or so were reall dumb. It was like The deadline was in an hour and the author tied up loose ends without really stopping to see how it flowed with the storyline.
Overall, I don't regret reading this book because it did have its moments when I laughed/smile/enjoyed myself. But I will probably never read it again.
Fairly good ... I liked how you registered the school to be like Hogwarts and that the author even mentioned it. Despite that, you could tell it was its own story, not some kind of remake. I think I expected there to be more feeling or power in all of the events that occurred. I enjoyed the book quite a bit and am still looking forward to the rest of the series to see how things turn out.
While I enjoyed Eternity very much, a lot of the elements I found disappointing could have been fixed by the author using more details, and richer words to paint their picture. After Juliet made her discovery, there was no change in the internal workings of Juliet, which made no sense. Also, the soulmate issue with Adrian was NOT addressed properly - it was like, "Oh, OK. No big deal." when it was a big deal. Overall, it was somewhat anti-climatic. I read to see what would happen, not because I fell in love with the characters...which is a problem. The storyline was great, and I'm looking forward to the sequel to see what happens, but I feel as if the author tried too hard to cram too many events into this one book. As a result, precious details were lost - details that were necessary to the story and to the reader. However, this novel is definitely worth a read, especially because it's free.
I got this book for a free ebook from Barnes and Noble. The concept of the book was a nice one which involved a Harry Potter-esque magic school. But I found myself forcing myself to finish the book since I started reading it. I didn't like the simple sentence structures and grammar used. It reminded me of the kind of writing done when you are in middle school/early high school and you are writing a story. This style prevented the story from having a good flow with good transitions between scenes. I also felt that the characters weren't as deeply developed as they could be. You don't really get the feel for who the characters really are which makes it hard to accept the friendships/relationships that are formed. You don't see what connects them and how they work. It's just skimming the surface and not going in depth.
If the writing style were more refined and the characters were more deeply developed, I believe this book had the potential to be a really good one.
I was held captive by this book. The charcters are well written and the story was heart felt. You find yourself being pulled into the story. These two young people have gone through so much. They have grown up the best of friends. When you are with someone for most of your life you grow extremely attached to them. When they get a chance to get away from the orphanage and attend this cool school in another country, they jump at the chance. How could life be better than to start a new chapter on your life's journey; with your best friend at your side. What would you be willing to do for your best friend? What do you do when you find out that you are not exactly what or who you thought you were? Will others give you a hard time about being different? When something devastating happens, will you know what to do and have the courage to succeed? You have to read this book! You will not be dissapointed.
It was interesting. It had a lot of potential, and it was fun, but there were a lot of things about it that bothered me. Two biggest things being 1. It felt like the major plot points were the love triangle and the fact that Juliet wasn't sure if she was a Goddess or not even though ALL the evidence pointed to her being one. 2. The relationship with Adrian. They see each other for the first time and kiss for the first time on the same night. Then they have a one night stand. And then they aren't soulmates and they part ways as friends without so much as a second thought.....It was just like that and kind of felt a little fake. But it was fun having a Hogwarts-ish school for vampires and werewolves and there were some funny moments and was enjoyable, but I don't think I will be reading the next one.
I really liked this book overall; however, I was left frustrated at times. Some of the scenes left out major details, making them feel rushed (the love scene, or sentence/paragraph). Other than that, it annoyed me that Juliet was so against her being Isadora even if all evidence was pointing to it and she suspected it herself. How Juliet and Adrian were together from the second they saw themselves professing to be in love with one another, and then one day being like yeah lets not be together anymore was kind of fast and confusing. Overall, I liked the storyline as it was different from many other things I have read despite the ending being rushed and I and am looking foward to reading the next book, whenever that comes out.
I thought it was hands down one of the best books i have ever read. It was about a girl who was an orphan and got the chance of a life time. She has an ability to see peoples auras. She can tell what they are feeling and what kind of creature they are, except herself. She has a white aura and she cant tell what that means. She goes to a school far away with her best friend Jack. Jack is a werewolf and he doesn't know that until they arrive at Pembrook (the magical school). She finds out she has 3 abilitys and that is abnormal. She also falls in love with a dangerous werewolf named Adrian. This story is filled with mystery and wonder.
I recently read this today on my mom's nook and I have to say I really enjoyed it! I do feel like there could have been more detail though. Although I loved the relationship between Adrian and Juliet, I was a bit disappointed at the end when she gave up so easily on him. I feel like the ending was given no real thought when it was being written. The story line had no real depth to it. It was a little dull, but I loved the whole concept of the receiving letters for a magic school like in Harry Potter. Overall I liked it, but I felt the ending really was a set back for the overall novel.
Lacked depth and meaning. This would have been a great read if Timmons had put more thought and meaning behind the relationships, and "umph" behind the story line. This lacked a lot of "uumph" so I wouldnt be surprised if he just made this book for money if anything... I honsetly read till the end because I thought the main character would have a reason of being a God, but she just seems like a depressed looking teen looking at life as if it were a bore. Horrible ending and a waste of time if you ask me.
I have to honestly say I AM IN LOVE! I mean in LOVE woth this book. Considering it being a Free ebook it was VERY good. From most of the efree ebooks I have read, it was well-written, not many grammar errors, at a fairly normal pace, and I Absolutley loved all of the characters. This book had everything I've always wanted to read in a book, and trust me when I tell you, you won't be disappointed!
Interesting story, but a few things disappointed me. There was WAY too much telling. And the romance bit. I kind of think I understand where it is heading, but it almost made it all seem like a waste the way it was rushed and then the bits at the end happened. I know the author is working things, so it would be interesting to see how that turns out. I'm sure it will make the story that much stronger.
I would give this zero stars if I could. It was overkill to mention J.K Rowling in the beginning of the story and then go on to write this sort of half assed imitative novel. The read was difficult because it was not well written. The main character came across as very pretentious and much of the story was simply unbelievable. Really good fantasy novels give you the desire to believe in magic, this one made me want to kill a unicorn and tell random children that there is no santa claus.
The story line was pretty good. It was simple amd something to pass the time. However, the one thing I hate the most when the last 50 pages the story takes a total left amd the ending is not that great. Adrian amd Juliet are together for most of the book and then its like "oh, Nevermind, ". It could have been much better.
Too many useless dialog and information. The book tends to ramble on and on about nothing at all that will relate or set up the next scene.. It's all unnecessary accessories.
The storyline is there and cute.. The writing needs a lot of work in terms of organization and cutting out lots of unnecessary part...
Not bad but not good either. 2 stars for creativity in storyline concept.
This was a quick, ok read. It pulled from Harry Potter and could have been better written. The characters didn't really pull me into the story. It has potential but feels like the entire thing wasn't really developed completely.
Great story line and very interesting. Things got a little boring for me at the end but before that i was really intrigued and overall i loved it. I hope the author writes another book to continue the story.
really good about a girl named juliet smith and her best friend jack. they are inviteed to join a school which is like 10x bigger and better than their old school at pembrook. magic and romancee is involved. recommened for 7th and up.
I really enjoyed this book. But, as other's have said, it did feel rushed. A lot happened & I felt this could have been expanded into at least 2 or 3 books with more detail. Over-all, pretty nice free book.
While I found the story to be interesting, it was pretty dry and boring. That being said, I think I will read the next one because I am annoyed where it left off.
The story was good, but got really confusing towards the end. I was like "WAT?" when I read this, but other than that it was not good, but not bad... it's ok
Reminded me of Harry Potter, which I love. Was a pretty good read, only took me a day to read it. The end definitely left me wanting a sequel, can't wait for it.
It was good but a huge disappointment given the fact that Adrian wasn't her soulmate!! That just frickin pissed me off and there's no second part to see who actually was the lucky number!!!
I liked the book, though it felt like the writing style changed for the last 100 pages or so. The ending was a little anti climactic for me but I would read a sequel.
A really great book. Downloaded it on my Nook and finished in one day! Reminds me a great deal of the Harry Potter books. Will look for more work by this author.
