This second volume of the fast paced pulp yaoi novel, Dojo Boys: Dragon & Crow continues the story of Shotokan student Michael Black's adventures with the Japanese stranger known to him as Kiyoshi.
Volume Two finds Michael in deep waters when in trying to win back his lover, he is persuaded to participate in an NPA undercover operation. He finds himself accosted at a nightclub, kidnapped at a casino and fighting Kiyoshi's Yakuza ex-lover, among a host of other madcap adventures, all to gain the full trust and love of Kiyoshi Kimura.
Publisher's Note: This book contains sexual content, explicit language and situations that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices.

And I write yaoi, boy's love, m/m romance stories, helps me work out the stuff I struggle with as a result of my weird childhood.
I wish I had a multiple personalities so I could read and enjoy this book more than one time. I love reading about beautiful Asian men who can also kick-ass. I loved both books very much. If those series are going to be publish one day, I hope they will have manga pictures in them illustrating some of the scenes. There is a scene at the bath with 6 Yaks when Michael and Philip walked in on them. After which Michael has an idea of manga drawings circling inside his head. It was wonderful. I could almost hear the pencil scraping on the paper trying to capture the scene. Actually, the whole thing in the bath was good. I was over the moon to read about Michael fighting 'nekkid' :-) I am very happy I stumbled on Dojo Boys. Lucky lucky me :-)
Dragon and Crow, Volume 2 picks up right where Dojo Boys: Dragon & Crow, Volume 1 left off. Michael finds himself immerse in his lover's latest mission where he encounters a salacious guy, a high school girlfriend, a handsome operative from his lover's organization and his lover's ex. He is man-handled, beat up and injured. He is not having the best of days, but his spirits are kept high by thoughts of his lover and what they share. Then all hell breaks loose and Michael finds himself facing his biggest nightmare - losing the man he loves.
As with the previous installment, I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. I found myself gripping my tablet during the action packed scenes and biting my lip during the sizzling-hot sex scenes. In this installment, we also get to see a more vulnerable side to Ichiro, Kiyoshi's cousin, and a stronger, cunning side to Kiyoshi. That right there is what I have come to love from Alex A. Akira's writing - his ability to bring to life the characters in his stories by peeling back layer after layer of the characters' personality. That, combined with a riveting storyline and fast paced action scenes, is what truly keeps me reading all through the night.
I enjoyed how Michael managed to hold his own under the circumstances that he was facing, his unending loyalty to Kiyoshi and how his emotions spilled out on the page. He felt real, much more than in the previous volume. Kiyoshi, on the other hand, was resilient in his determination to put this mission to rest. He was strong, hard edged and completely sexy in his pursue of Michael. I loved this side of him. Yes, I liked his vulnerable, sweet side and his rougher side too, but this devil may care, seductive, controlling side gave him an air of unavailability that I enjoyed very much. Who knew?! :-D
Dojo Boys: Dragon & Crow Volume 2 is a great follow-up book that will leave you wanting more from Michael and his sexy operative. There's not much more I can say without giving the little treasures of the story away since I loved it all, so I'll just shut up now and read some of the highlighted text on my Kindle. Yes, yes, I'm going back in there, you know, to refresh my memory and all that.
I received this title from the author in exchange of my honest opinion.
I'll have to post this review also for the first book because they need to be read in line!
I really, really enjoyed the two Dragon & Crow books or let's say the whole Dragon & Crow story very much. Good thing, they were released at the same time or I'd have gnawed my nails off waiting after the first one. ;-)
It was a very captivating read, very diverse, never a dull moment and very well written - all of it ;-)! I even got quite emotional at times but I will not put in spoilers here. The whole story has much more substance than one would expect from a yaoi-labeled book. The author really does have a gift, weaving an intricate and thrilling storyline and I hope to read much more of Alex A. Akira's work in the future.
For readers who like yaoi and prefer their yaoi with substance and well thought out characters - is that an oxymoron? ;-) - you should definitely give this story a go and if you need any more encouragement: look at the price!
P.S.: In order to have the whole story rounded up and get a little more insight into the past of two of the main characters I recommend to first read "Dojo Boys: The First Misunderstanding" as a prologue.
First off I loved the book. It was very well written and held my interest. The dance scenes were written beautifully and you could see them as they were written. There was a lot of action as they all were trying to save the lives of the children and themselves. There was places in the book that you could hardly catch your breath because the action coming so fast. I had thought that in the first book skipping back and forth between the four men’s viewpoint it would take away from the book. It did not in the first book or in this one. It added to my enjoyment of both of the books. The only thing I found that that I was left wondering about was Michael’s back story. His family all being killed one by one, who killed them? Are they coming after Michael in the future? I hope in a future book that these questions are answered. I know I am greedy for wanting every loose end tied in a perfect bow for me. It was a great story.
