Bones of Callaley: A Ryan Jarrod Tyneside Crime Mystery

Rate this book
Some things are best left buried. Some things are too close to home. Some things are both. Secrets lurk behind the closed doors of a quiet residential neighbourhood. The discovery of human remains in a garden blows those doors wide open, exposing terrible secrets hidden by the community.
Investigating officer DS Ryan Jarrod is rocked to the core when he learns one of the revelations involves his own past - and it's one which causes Jarrod to question everything he thought he knew about himself.
As neighbours firstly close ranks, then turn against one another, Ryan is left to solve the mystery armed with nothing more than local gossip. The longer the answers evade him, the more DS Jarrod fears he is the one avoiding an unpalatable truth.

'More twists and turns than a moorland drive, more red herrings than a Moscovite fishmonger.'

Think of Ann Cleeves or LJ Ross with the gritty, urban twist of Ian Rankin and Peter James - that's the Ryan Jarrod
explosive crime fiction in the mould of traditional dark thrillers.

They keep getting better!

How can the story of a criminal investigation have so much emotion? This is Colin Youngman's best so far and it kept me guessing right to the end.
Now I'm going to order the next one - book 8!
