Perdita’s still dealing with the consequences of her actions when her enemies change their targets with no warning, but it’s the unexpected betrayal of those closest to her that hurts the most. When her world shifts beneath her, Perdy has to figure out how to stay standing without losing any more of herself to the werewolves.
Nathan’s watching everyone pull away from him, but he can’t control his destiny. He’s trying to protect his loved ones, but something always seems to get in the way. A public attack has everyone talking about wolves, and all eyes are on his family. His grandfather has lost his mind, and Nathan’s caught in the crossfire, but all of his choices will cost him a sacrifice. One way or another.
This was unexpected. I honestly thought Nathan and Perdita didn't need the curse to know that what they felt for one another was real and true. Its not clear if their feelings will change after the curse broke, things were left muddled and confuse but it would be a shame if everything they felt was solely due to that curse. I feel like Perdita is really alone, her BFF Tammie turned out to be a complete bitch. Her father is kind of an asshole. Her grandmother is a bit delusional and her mother acts more like a friend than a parent.
I did enjoy this book but I was left feeling like the ending had undone most of the work from the first two books. I’m interested to see how the plot continues and these books are still very easy reads.
Clarity I think it was slightly better than Verity, but still not worth the three stars. I keep feeling disappointed - it's too big of a focus on the relationship between Perdita and Nathan, and too much thinking/talking for my taste. I guess it's the lack of action and all the filling, combined with the feeling that the author hasn't been able to utilize the full potential of the story, that makes me wish for more. Maybe I'm to old for what must be categorized as YA fiction? I haven't read what the author says about the series herself though. As in "Verity", once again the last chapter and the epilogue were the best part of the book. Will I read any future releases? I guess so. Not because it's brilliant, but because I don't like "unfinished business".
I enjoyed Clarity more than Verity. I think that many of the translation issues to American English were less obvious in this book or maybe I just got used to it. The book was faced paced, and you could relate to the family issues that were happening even if you are not a mythical character.
Lots of drama with both Nathan and Perdita's family that constantly affected them which in turn helped the book flow quickly. Most everyone is looking out for themselves in the book forgetting that they are not alone, but I think that a majority of us do that when in despair. The end of the book almost ripped my heart out as you could feel the pain.
Again, I would completely comfortable with my daughter reading this book. Though there is violence it is fairly tame, and I feel that a majority of the main characters have a good, strong background that would make them good "people" to know.
I’m a little mad at Nathan because he didn’t help Pedita, when Amelia turned. Because she was so scared and it was Ryan, whom hasn’t been there for long, who had to save her life because Nathan was too much in shock to do it himself..
Ever since Lia died I’ve gotten really angry at Jakob because he has gotten so angry and annoying that I can’t deal with him anymore, and it’s all about revenge for him, that he isn’t “present” anymore, which is sad because I really liked him before Lia died.
I also felt like the book ended rather sudden, because I flew though the book so fast and because of that I picked up the next book so fast because I needed to know what had happened.

In the second book of this series, Perdita is still reeling from her actions in book one. She feels guilt and it hurts that she can't talk to anyone other than Nathan and his sister Amelia about it. Her former best friend is acting out and hurting her emotionally, and her father is brutally attacked at the funeral of her boyfriend's grandmother. It's a tangled mess!
At the same time, Nathan is too young to carry the burden he is forced to shoulder. He's trying to save everyone and losing himself in the process. His family isn't helping...they all have their own issues.
This is an excellent continuation of the story in the first book and really does leave you wanting more!
Again this book does a lot that breaks from the romance novel trope, which in my opinion is definitely a good thing. It doesn't hesitate to acknowledge the valid concerns with being in a relationship with someone who is violent. It does not romanticize it as most such books would. The series has also, from the start, repeatedly mentioned the problem of lack of free will that the wolf romance subgenre depends on and generally fails to question in my admittedly limited experience. There are plenty of plot surprises too. I'm really enjoying it.
Well I'm not usually a shifter person but I am drawn into this series. I like the fact that not everything is as it seems in this one and Perdita really needs to learn who to trust and why. I felt for Perdita at the funeral and then to have her Mother re-appear was bad. But saying that i think Perdita didn't even give her mother a chance at all. I get it she was a crappy mum but still at least talk to her. I wonder what will happen with her dad and can there really be peace in sight?
Brilliantly written.Enjoyed it more than the first of that's possible.
Brilliant. The way the transition from person to werewolf is never described in detail, but it's done without the usual preamble about pAin etc. The story was well written, with sensitivity and care. Loved it, and loved the twist at the end.
Alright, so, apparently, I have owned this eBook since 2019 and never actually bothered reading it until now and I am deleting it; and I am definitely sure I got it for free back then, so, lucky me.
This was a waste of my time but, thankfully, I only read a few chapters and not the whole thing. That was enough for me to realize that the writing wasn’t that compelling to me.
Well, that was unexpected. Like the main characters, I am left feeling a little bereft. I have to read the next two to see what happens. A few errors, although, looking back on my annotations, maybe not as many as I thought. The ones made should have been obvious, though.
2nd book of series. Great continuation of book 1. Suspenseful story of Werewolves, romance, danger and fighting. Hard to put it down, spellbinding story.
This probably is the only confused part of the series. But it serves as a platform for the rest. The entire series is good to read. I couldn't stop at 1.
The sequel to Verity was filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, and left on a cliffhanger! What will happen with Perdita and Nathan? Only continuing the series will reveal the answer!
I cannot really remember what happened in this book. It seems more of a link to the next.
What I do know is Tammie isn't sorted in this book and Perdy seems pretty unbothered which again backs up my shes a selfish cow. waaa.
Nathan dear god. can we say twilight edward much? he just needs to sparkle.
effort for capitals is being dropped as this review is a little bit annoying me. I read the series because I wanted to see how the author would take the curse on and develop it make it a big deal. She didn't in the first it was literally "you find a soul mate dream about her/him for a year, find them. produce babies, she dies." dun dun duuuun. And I was sort of hoping it would be more.
Amelia figures out what is going on, and sorts it out. And Nathan does nothing. He watches the madness unfold and stands there. Of course this happens at the end of this book so don't get your hopes up with what is going on.
Perdy still annoying, her family situation makes me laugh, her mum ran off because she sucks. Her dad is a doctor but never seems to be working? And her gran and her seeem to hate each other yet theres also a closeness there. I don't see how it can be both.
Amelia is more pushy, shes more of a friend in this book and seems to give a damn about Perdy here. Actually she is more interesting to me. And in my opinion should have been the main focus. Sod Perdy and Nathans pathetic drama. Blow that.
What I suppose is good about Nathan and Perdy being the focus instead of Amelia is that the heroine isn't some big almighty force that takes up the book with just herself. As Amelia is the big almighty force (cannot explain for spoiler) and therefore shes a focus but not the main focus so she isn't shoved down your throats as some amazing character we have to love.
Giving this a 3 stars again because of all the points I have hoped I made and for the fact Tammie is still acting like a demon child with no retribution or reason.
Noooo, I just finished this book and want to know what happens now but the next book hasn’t been published yet!
Nathan’s Grand Mother is dead and it feels like his family is falling apart. His Grand Father disappears but then returns, with a complete character change, to the point that Nathan doubts his sanity. Nathan wants his uncle Byron to take charge but he seems reluctant to. His cousin reappears and Nathan is unsure as to whether to trust him. Amelia is suffering from disturbing dreams that she believes to be more than they seem. She is also plagued with awful headaches.
The one constant in Nathan’s turbulent life is Perdy. The curse brought them together (in the book “Verity”, Cursed book 1) and he finds their mutual physical attraction mounting, despite the fact that their world is spiralling out of control.
Perdy is plagued by doubts. She is unhappy with how the wolves have taken over her life in such a short period of time, especially when a loved one is attacked. She is worried about Nathan. When she met him he was gentle and mild-mannered. However, he is starting to show a darker, more fiery side that she doesn’t like. That she is a little afraid of.
Betrayals and unexpected alliances, love and passion, doubts and confusion. This Y.A book is another great read from Claire Farrell and the only disappointing part was the fact that I couldn’t immediately start reading book 3!!!
I liked the first book in this series, but this one was a lot better. I'd actually give it 3.5 stars. The only issue I actually have with this is that Perdita has an issue with werewolves and violence...that's stupid. Aggression is part of their nature, it is something to be expected. Does it mean that she should let them walk all over her? No. But to have some serious issues with Nathan after seeing what being a werewolf entails is a bit stupid. But on the other side of that, it was good to have it brought up. I also liked how she was having a hard time with dealing with the fact that she had killed someone--regardless of whether it was in self defense or not. Because that was something I really could see happening to anyone. It would not be an easy thing to live with. Her mom is a piece of work, and the jump from disdain to open mindedness was a great route to take, however, I felt it happened too quickly, and easily. I think there would have been a lot more resentment and rebellion against that idea than there actually was. But it is safe to say I am addicted and I do need to know how this ends.
Clarity by Claire Farrell is another great read, as always with her books, but this book ends with a sort of cliff-hanger, and I am much too impatient to read very many cliff-hangers. Rest assured I will most certainly be awaiting the next book in this series.
Just as she always does, Ms Farrell portrays another stellar cast of characters. And most importantly, they are all characters who come alive, who become close friends with the reader, or even like family members. You just can't help falling in love with the "good guys" and you absolutely hate the "bad guys".
I could ramble on forever when it comes to Ms. Farrell's wordcraft, but suffice to say, if I could I would camp on her doorstep to await the next book.
