Once upon a time, a girl who had never read paranormal romance discovered the Warriors of Poseidon series. This girl immediately had to read every book in the series, and with each book, her love for theses Atlantean warriors has grown.
Then she found an anthology that held this short story. And she let a friend borrow it. And she hasn't seen it since.
But today, Alyssa Day released the story as an ebook! The girl bought the novella. And there was much rejoicing.
In Shifter's Lady also found in the anthology Shifter, we have mateless alpha Ethan (from the other novella Wild Hearts in Atlantis) and we have Marie from Atlantis.
Someone or something is killing Ethan's pride, but he isn't sure what. He needs help, but will he accept it?
Marie is going to Florida to visit her brother Bastien, one of the Atlantean Warriors, and his new mate. She knows something is going to happen, but can't figure out what. Marie definitely didn't think she'd fall in love while topside.
Their romance is bittersweet, and I won't ruin the ending, but it's not what I expected. I would love to see Marie and Ethan more in the current books. But as of now, this is one series I started years ago as my first paranormal romance, and it's the only one I still read, that still feels fresh, and is easy to slip into each time I pick up a Warriors of Poseidon book.
I don't think you'd enjoy this novella as much if you haven't followed the series, but this is one series that has withstood the test of time for me. If you're looking for something other than just vampires and werewolves, why don't you try some Atlantean warriors?

Мари ми беше любопитна още от първата си поява - поради позицията си, поради това, че е и единствената жена-атлантка, появила се досега. Итън също беше интересен при появата си в предишната новела. Характерите и позициите им представляваха прекрасна възможност да се разчупи модела, като същевременно авторката запази характерната за произведенията ѝ първична страст. От една страна имаме Мари - първа девица на Богинята на Нереидите, от друга - Итън - водач и защитник на своя прайд, и двамата на позиция, неподходяща за подобна връзка. Заради позициите им очаквах, след първите искри нещата между тях да се развият на принципа на въздържанието и постепенно натрупваното напрежение, докато то не стигне един грандиозен финал. I was really curious about this book. Marie is a character that I found interesting from the beginning for many reasons - first, her position as a First Maiden, her isolation of the Above world, and mostly the fact that she is the only female Atlant we got near to (for now, I hope there'll be more). I have good memories of Ethan, too :). Anyway, given their characters and positions, I was hoping that this story will be more out of pattern than the rest. Shy maiden on one side, on the other - passionate shapeshifter, who anyway tries to stay away for the sake of the allience. I wanted this romance to be more based on self-restraint till the end - with a grand romantic and passionat3e finish! Somewhat like things are with Alaric for now - and I do love Alaric. But things escaleted too quickly for my taste, and we couldn't see much character. A remark such as "I want to lick you" can be in place in many stories, but not here.
Still, I was happy to see that there was a nice background story here too. The ending was a bit open, but I found it perfect this way. Like this we can hope to get more of this couple in future.

Ethan is the panther alpha with major issues. Someone is killing his pack and as Alpha this is his mess to deal with. Marie is the First Maiden of the Nereids, she has never left Atlantis before but she wants to see her brother Bastien and meet her new sister in law, Kat. There is an instant connection between Ethan and Marie and when Kat and Bastien are sent off to deal with vampire issues they have only each other. My issues with this story is again, Marie has never been outside of Atlantis. Now I know she is someone who has dealt with warriors all her life BUT, I would think she would be nervous outside of Atlantis instead she acts as though she is afraid of nothing. She puts herself in danger for the sake of arguing, just so she can make the decision. At a couple hundred years old, one would think she should have more intelligence and experience than that.

Не знам просто от къде да започна! То не бяха несъответствия в описанията, то не беше предвидимост на историята, то не беше клишираност на изразните средства. През цялото време докато я четях тая новела ми идеше или да се смея до сълзи (но не защото написаното беше забавно, а защото беше авсурдно в кофти смисъла на думата), или да въртя очи в досада или да се потреса от тъпотиите, които прочитам. Зле, много зле! Ще ми се да можех да кажа поне едно хубаво нещо, но уви, няма! Кофти имена, скучна история, идентичност на героите, ужасни диалози. Четете я на своя отговорност. Аз и до сега се учудвам как намерих сили, воля и търпение в мен да я довърша.

I liked their story as a whole, what I didn't like about it is the open ending. I mean what is going to happen to Marie and Ethan when she is in Atlantida and he is in Florida? That's why I'm giving 4 out 5 stars.

A good story which I think was just a little too short. But that seems to be my main complaint with short stories by this author. Just a bit more fleshed out and longer and it would be perfect.
Overall a good story with a typical shifter insta-love theme and some action. I was also a bit disappointed that it ended with a HFN instead of a more solid HEA. (But again, that's one of my personal hang-ups.)
If you know the Warriors of Poseidon series, I recommend this story.

Overall Verdict: 7 tridents out of 10. Not as good as Bastien's story, but Ethan still provided decent lady boner material.

An exciting, fast read!
A fast-paced well written tale of politics, loyalty, love, and betrayal with characters you can't help but fall in love with. My only problem with this book is its lack of resolution. Since this is a novella I am expecting Ethan and Marie to get a resolution later in the series.
I highly recommend this book and series.

Good story
This was a well written quick read. The characters are well rounded. They are likeable or not as the author has written them. The storyline moves quickly but is also a full tale.

This was a wonderful story.
I really loved Marie getting her own story. She so deserves her own HEA. Even better that it is with Ethan. I really do love this world Alyssa Day has created.

Such a fun, hot read. I read this as part of the Shifter anthology. It's one of my favorite stories of the collection. Loved Ethan and Marie!

Atlantis meets werepanther... hmmmmm... this series brings Atlantis to light, and they have not had contact with humans of thousands of years... by this story, a few humans (one a witch) live in Atlantis with their warrior husbands, and one warrior lives on land with a woman werepanther...
Ethan is the alpha werepanther, protecting his pride as well as one natured panthers in the Florida swamp preserve... but someone has killed 5 one natured panthers... he was once mated with Fallon, a werepanther from Texas, but they did not get along... She was working with vamires to destroy the were panthers, and he was unable to keep her alive when they fought the vamps... he feels some guilt over this...
and Marie is a temple leader, the temple of healing and especially of helping mothers birth their babies, and of children... she comes on land to visit her warrior brother... but her brother is called back to help find Lord Justice... she stays with her sisterinlaw, but quickly becomes embroiled with Ethan... there is an attraction btween them that neither one particularly wants. She gets embroiled in his life, though, when Fallon's brother shows up, pulls her out of the car and threatens her life as he issues a challenge to Ethan for his alphaship & his lands...
they spend the next 36 hours together, making love, sharing, etc... she can create water/rain, and when she climaxes in sex, it rains in their room... hmmmm... new slant...
He defends his position, even though Fallon's brother tried to cheat... they spend a few more weeks together, and though they love, she returns to her home.... hmmmm... how will they resolve this long distance relationship...

"Shifter's Lady" by Alyssa Day. Book 2.5 in the Warriors of Poseidon series.
What an awesome novella addition to this series! The characters of Ethan and Marie are such a great couple. Marie is a character that was introduced in the second book of the series and Ethan was introduced in the previous novella.
Ethan is the alpha of his panther shifter pack. Someone is killing his real-panther cousins and he has to find out who. On top of finding a killer, he also has to deal with a visitor from Atlantis. A very gorgeous, sexy visitor.
Marie is excited to visit her brother Bastien, in Florida. It's her first time leaving Atlantis! But her vacation is not going as she hoped. Instead of spending time with her brother and new sister-in-law, she's spending time with the alpha, Ethan.
This story is very fast paced and flows really well. The passion between Ethan and Marie is electric. I didn't want this novella to end!

What? No,no,no! It can’t end like that. Romance stories aren't allowed to. This had better be fixed in the next book or I’m going to be very upset with this series.
This is a short story about Marie’s trip to visit her brother in Florida. But she ends up visiting his mate instead, for a while. Amazing how all the characters ‘disappear’ until the two main guys are stuck with each other. It’s a little too contrived.
I want to like Marie, but for a 1st maiden (basically high priestess) she seems a little too wimpy. And Ethan is too full of himself for an Alpha to act. By the end though I started to like them. And I was fully involved in the story. Then…., sigh.
Quick thought: 1)Marie or Ethan should have told Travis that Marie was from Atlantis and that if Travis harmed one hair of her head he’d have all the warriors of Poseidon down on him.
Fave Scenes: raining in the bedroom and Jack’s arrival.

Marie works in a temple in Alantis as a healer and has water power. Her brother has mated with a shape shifter and she decides to visit them in America. She finds her self under the protection of the alpha male Ethan Who is a panther. Ethan is challenged by another alpha from another pack - the fight is to the death ...The good guy wins. The ending was uncertain and I was uncertain if there was a happy ever after as Marie had to return back to Alantis. This felt like a ploy together me to read more of her books.

This is an adorable story of obtaining gender equality within the ancient atlantean society. Okay, it's about a priestess getting her first vacation in about 400 years. It could also be about a stuck up shifter getting over the notion that he is responsible for everything that goes wrong with his people. In reality this fast paced novel is about this along with recovering the half-brother prince that sacrificed himself for his brothers, and so much more. If you are looking for a cute, funny, yet dramatic read, this is your book.

Unlike the other authors, this was my first exposure to Day. I'm intrigued by the back stories of the other characters and may check out some of this series in the future. Good pacing, likeable and strong characters who don't lose track of reason (a pet peeve of mine), and a few twists. Because it's a novella, I realize that everything is condensed, so I will be interested to see what she does with a full-length novel.

Fun change to a new place with a focus on the shifters. Ethan is one hot alpha panther. (Yes, I'm biased toward cat shifters.)
Having our bad guy killing off actual panthers was enough to demand his throat be torn out. (I'm a zookeeper. Comes with the territory.) Ethan was definitely the guy to do it. I would have kept reading just to see justice done.
I enjoyed this story as a novella. It would have made a great book though.

* couldn't finish, ** wouldn't recommend, *** would recommend, **** would read again, ***** have read again.
While this book did have a few redeeming qualities, due to a lack of editorial contribution I would not recommend it.

Short but very interesting story by Alyssa Day included in Shifter. Marie is from Atlantis and First Maiden of the Nereids. Ethan is the Alpha of his Panther pride, he is strong, powerful, extremely sexy and handsome. Travis is a Rogue panther who challenges Ethan, winner take all. He has killed many panthers and blames Ethan for the death of a panther he loved. Although Ethan and Marie are in love, they go their separate ways until they can find a way that will allow them to be together.

I am a little sort on time. I just love Atlantis! I am going to reread these many times. I guess I if there's magic, some warriors & a little bit of rescue the world, I'm ready to keep reading until The books quit coming. It's just the kind of thing that keeps you wondering what's gonna happen next? When will the new heir to the throne be born? You just keep reading until the end, then you grab the next one! At least that's the way it is for me. I just love'em!
