Cozy Craft Mysteries can be read in any order. A quirky and funny series for fans of a good mystery and compelling characters. Can you solve the crime before our dressmaking duo?
Spring time brings fresh challenges for Penny and Izzy at the Cozy Craft sewing shop. Izzy is moving in with dog-trainer boyfriend, Marcin, and Penny is given a new to make ‘memory bears’ to honour a recently deceased woman.
Life can’t be bad if your only problems are trying to cope with a boyfriend who likes potatoes too much or working out how to construct the perfect teddy bear.
But things turn sinister when a newspaper crossword appears to contain coded hints that the deceased woman was in fact murdered. Who might have wanted to poison an innocent old woman? And where did those cryptic clues come from?
When Izzy and Penny discover that the dead woman was the author of a puzzle book with clues to a solid gold prize in its pages, they realise they might not just be dealing with murder but also a search for buried treasure.
Can Penny and Izzy follow the thread of clues and find the treasure before the killer does?
If you enjoy fast-paced mysteries, charming country towns and characters who you want to spend hours with then this is the book for you.
These stories are a light escape for me. The first few are nice and I like the characters but this one has upped its game. The puzzle premise was especially fun and unique. I like the under current of the personal lives of the girls, this one was a bit slow for Penny…If your not big on romance novels but like a little of it this series is good, but would have like Penny’s story to move a little farther. Maybe she will start seeing the detective, we haven’t gotten to know him?
I have read the first five books in this series and I have enjoyed them all. They have interesting stories and are a quick read. The reason I gave them 4 stars is that Ms. Ravenswood doesn't give a description of Izzy and Penny. I would like to know what they look like and how old they are.
This was another well-written mystery where Penny and Izzy are commissioned to make memory bears and kaftans...but not everything is as it seems.
I enjoyed the story, especially the exploits of the sewing, sleuthing duo. They are distinctive and likeable characters. I also liked seeing how each dealt with their private lives.
A bit more subdued than the previous four books, it was hard to stay focussed on the plot. I found it hard to get into this one as characters were less interesting. A bit slow and lacked a bit of something!
Not as good as the previous books in the series. And she needs a better editor. Names are mixed up and in previous books times are weird. Unless 8 p.m. is afternoon time in England.
