Excellent book. Very helpful for beginner gardeners. I have read it cover to cover twice and like that there is just enough information for me to get started. The pictures are good, the detail just enough and the book nicely written. There's a layout showing three different versions of beds which was particularly helpful to see how many plants you would grow over a metre square. I feel I will refer to this book again and again.

Typical DK guide book, lavish photos and easily readable text. Book is divided into 5 mainn sections: 1 - looking at growing space (choosing site, soil, sowing, planting); 2 - Planning the plot (planting, tending, picking & eg plots); 3 - A-Z guide to veg, 4 - A-Z guide to fruit and 5 - problem solving section. A-Z sections give clear basic instructions about sowing, planting, routine care, harvesting & training.
