Beatrice never thought she’d find herself in the middle of Aura, the city of her sworn enemy, the Dreamcatchers. Nor did she ever think she’d abandon everything she’d ever known and everyone she’d ever loved to blindly follow Echo, the Dreamcatcher Prince. Gabe would never forgive her, if he lives, and nor will any of the Seers. Upon arriving, Beatrice is quickly thrown into the Dreamcatcher Queen’s self-serving plot to save Aura from a disastrous plague, and Bea’s anticipated return to the City is becoming less likely every day she is held captive and subjected to the epidemic. Her Visions are the key to the cure, but when her Seer friends show up in Aura as well, Beatrice must learn to balance her precarious friendship and loyalty to both her people and the promise she made to help Echo’s people. As Beatrice navigates these new people and customs, she learns that there are more than just the Seers, Dreamcatchers and Citizens left in the world…and whomever is out there wants to eliminate all of their competition — including her.

Stephanie Thomas has been writing ever since she could put letters together to form words. When she was a small child, she would present her mother and father with self-made newspapers filled up with make believe stories and pictures. Her love for writing followed her all throughout her schooling, where she entered and won writing contests of all sorts. Stephanie decided to become an English teacher and completed her B.A. at The Pennsylvania State University. While teaching, she later went on to get her Master’s in writing from The Johns Hopkins University. She completed her very first manuscript during her graduate studies, and by the end of the program, she had completed two more.

Stephanie is quick to tell anyone that she’s a born and raised Philadelphian, and her heart will always belong there. She moved to Baltimore with her husband, and they’ve been living there for the last five years with their doggie, Sailor, and their rabbit, Buns (aka “T Sizzle).

Back when Luminosity came out, I devoured it on the release date and was brokenhearted first when the release date for Book 2 was pushed back, and again when Stephanie revealed that the trilogy was to become a duology. Lucidity is really two books in one, which means a LOT of stuff happens. So much feels. I'm still feeling numb from all that happened.

The book begins with Beatrice arriving at Aura, a city that somehow manages to be extravagant while its citizens are ridden with the plague, such that the Dreamcatchers can't heal themselves and it is all pretty much going to hell in a handbasket. Immediately Echo takes Beatrice to meet the Queen, who wants to manipulate Bea. Echo hopes Bea's visions will tell her how to cure his people.

Beatrice's search for the cure leads her to the Outlands, a barren wasteland populated by Rogues, who are desperate for supplies. This was a really interesting part of the story: Beatrice ends up having to battle them, after seeing just how much they've struggled. You couldn't help but feel for them, but their happily-ever-after isn't really the focus of the story, which made it all the more sad.

Another discovery is that Beatrice finds herself ANOTHER enemy, one that has the ability to take away the Dreamcatchers' and Seers' powers. It appears not nearly as many people died during the destruction of the world as the Institution led Seers to believe.

Gabe was last seen in a coma in book 1, and the Dreamcatchers use Beatrice's attachment to him against her. If you absolutely hate love triangles, no exceptions, you should STAY AWAY from this book - there's a lot of back and forth from Beatrice. On the plus side, we learned more about Echo, and I really came to like him, even if I couldn't decide if Beatrice should end up with him.

Despite all the Stuff that went down, Beatrice stayed true to her character throughout the book: she's willing to kill to save someone she loves, willing to leave people she loves behind in order to save the lives of other people she loves, but also willing to do anything to save her friends. Personally, I love a character willing to make the hard decisions. Five stars from me.

Well! I've just finished this book. I liked the beginning, I didn't like the middle, but I loved the end. It had a perfect ending. It made me feel things that the recent books I've read have tried and failed to make me feel.

I'm still sad this book is the last of this series. There was supposed to be one more but then the plans changed. At times Lucidity felt a little rushed and like it had way too many things happening. It could have been two books with more detail given. But the plus side is that I couldn't put it down. So many things happened that I had to know what was happening next. I felt really annoyed when life got in the way and I couldn't continue reading.

I love love love the characters. I love the setting. I love the unique story. I'm so glad to have read this. I'm being mean and giving it four stars instead of five because I would have loved for another book to have been written with more detail. I want MORE! I'm selfish. I'm not ready to be done with these characters. Certain parts of Lucidity were glossed over that would have been more enjoyable if they were elaborated on.

But it was a great read by a great author and I really recommend that anyone who is a fan of Young Adult fiction give these books a try. They skate on the line of "young adult" and are perfectly enjoyable for mature readers to delve into, too.

I absolutely hated the ending. I thought it didn't really make sense. I really liked the beginning though. Echo was my favorite. He's the only reason I liked the first one so much.

This copy of the book was provided by the author for review, thank you!

My history with dystopian books has been spotty to say the least—I liked some and I disliked even more—but thankfully, Lucidity by Stephanie Thomas is one that I actually liked! You have no idea how excited I am about that.

It’s been some time since I read Luminosity, the first book in the series, and it was kind of an average read for me. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the sequel. The writing had a good flow to it, and it was easy to get into the story. There were plenty of descriptions and I could easily visualize the setting and what was happening. I really enjoyed the concept of Seers and Dreamcatchers, and the conflict that surrounded them. Full Review Here

I'm so fringing mad the series has ended. I really wished the author could have left it a three part series, there seems to be many things unanswered. For starters I never got why the crow always follows the Seeker, and what was its purpose? Echo was my favorite character, I felt so sorry for him. I don't think Bea treated him fairly, even after all he did to please her. By the time she expressed her feelings it was too late. And I hated that part by the way. I HATE love triangles, Bea didn't know if she was on Team Echo or Team Gabe. I think she wanted them both at the same time. I'm all for new beginnings and all that good stuff, but I didn't feel happiness at the ending. I guess cause I am Team Echo and I don't believe he truly got the HEA he deserved.

I have to say that Stephanie ROCKS! I read book two as a beta reader and am impressed with how the story evolved. Honestly it wasn't what I expected (I was mad! Well empathetic with the main characters)but I think that makes it a fun read. I don't want to give anything away but you will enjoy the sequel as much as the first book. Now for the novella...

Finished the second book of The Raven Chronicles. The titles of these books are odd, but I enjoyed the story and characters! I find myself thinking back on these books often. Wondering if there’s going to be a third book. The ending left it to go either way.
