Kieran cooks up a storm for the village Diamond Jubilee celebrations, but he’s not ready for the turbulence caused by the new 'lord of the manor'.
Kieran Lawson really wasn’t all that crazy about being co-opted onto the village Diamond Jubilee Organising Committee but he has a catering business to run and he needs all the opportunities he can get.
When Committee business brings him to Neil Hamlyn’s doorstep, he decides that getting involved with the celebrations isn’t going to be quite the ordeal he thought it would be.How long will it be before business turns to pleasure and what on earth will the villagers think, especially when Neil’s ex turns up to throw a spanner in the works?
I'm fairly new to this writing lark. Stolen Summer is my first published book, there's another, 'Orion Rising' which will be released in March 2012, by Total E Bound and my latest novel, an m/m contemporary, 'Mourning Jack' will be released by Total E Bound in May 2012. Stay tuned!
I love to write and my characters never leave me alone until their story is told.
To those of you who've taken the time to read Stolen Summer and review and/or rank it, thank you so much. I'm glad I've written a book that you like.
NOTE: If you are an author who (a) does not appear to read books in my genre and (b) is attempting to friend me just for the purpose of spamming, I suggest you look elsewhere. Thank you.
REALLY didn't like the dynamics of this so-called relationship ... a happy ending for me would have been seeing Kieran telling Neil where he could shove it.
What an enjoyable short story. I adore the UK and the people as their humor is usually a very dry wit and this tale simply reiterated that fact. It isn't very long at only fifty-eight pages, but it's a light romance with a little drama that I enjoyed.
Kieran is only on the Village Jubilee Committee because he's a caterer and it will help his business. He gets drafted to visit the new tenant of the hall and grounds where the celebration is always held and Kieran meets Neil. It's definitely attraction at first sight and they begin to see one another.
Unfortunately Neil is carrying some baggage around in the form of his ex and decisions will need to be made. I can admit that Neil wasn't my favorite person and I would have liked more groveling from him! But I really liked Kieran and the way he didn’t compromise his standards and back down in acceptance. Kieran stood up for himself and his worth and I cheered him on the whole way!
As stated, this is a short and enjoyable read. Nothing too dramatic or over the top, it is a good read if you only have a short time and you want a nice romance that's a little gritty but not too dark and has a nice ending.

This was a nice read, especially with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee coming up this week-end. I especially liked Kieran, how he handled both the good and bad situations, the manner in which he refused to compromise his stance on the problematic relationship with Neil. Speaking of him, I was not fond of Neil at all and thought he deserved to grovel much more towards the end. The climax and plot resolution happened too quickly and that spoilt the story a bit for me. Nevertheless, this has been a quite well written and pleasant shorter piece.
That was really sweet and fast. But it's okay because aside from historical romances I love Brit. Lit. just as much. And the angst was okay too, i just wished there was more. This book would have really made my day if Neil got his ass whooped and Keiran would have put up with the angst a bit longer... Neil deserved to be ignored longer. haha. But then this wouldn't be a short now would it. Cheers!
Very little relationship development. Most everything related to the MCs happened to them from the outside. As far as the romance is concerned, it's really a 1 star.
Quite short, based around a disagreement. Keiran, local caterer businessman, is involved in planning Jubilee celebrations. He does seem very dour, even before everything happens. A quick fall into bed with Neil, the developer who has bought the local hall but I wanted more development here for both guys. All is rolling along nicely when Neil does an about turn to help his ex and whilst there is no funny business, he does abandon Keiran. So all a bit weird. It is a long story shoved into a short format for a collection so some of what I want more come from this process. Keiran definitely left Neil off too easy at the end.
