Can't figure out if this is the original book or David Adam's reprint. Hebridean Altars is quoted extensively in Celtic Daily Prayer by Northumbria Community. The quotes were so striking that I located a copy via Interlibrary Loan, read it and copied it (because it is out of print). I treasure this little book and return to it often

Exquisite language about a beautiful, spiritual people of the Hebrides. The author collected stories, prayers, and myths handed down from one generation to another, each steeped in the faith of these people and their work ethic and connection with the natural world of their Creator. Their simple, profound faith--and the lovely they way express it--are both soothing and inspiring.
