Whisper Smith is one of the most famous bands in the world, and Clare Dare has no idea who they are. She makes a connection at an industry party with bassist Walker Fabron, and is quickly swept up into his rock star inner circle. Account manager by day, Clare has a love of words and uses poetry as her outlet. Walker sees the potential in her writing, and together they create masterful lyrics for the band's upcoming album. As they write, they realize their connection is deeper than a love of words and rhythm. Their attraction is undeniable. As the album's release nears, a secret from Walker's past threatens to upend their new relationship, and derail everything they've worked toward.
Can Clare handle this new life of fame and drama?
Four Strings is a steamy rock star romance, and book one of the Whisper Smith series.
UPDATE: my pettiness towards Walter and Ava has finally worn off so I’m switching my review to 4⭐️ instead of 2⭐️ lol
If you like super dramatic, chaotic books with toxicity, gaslighting, and a god awful pregnancy trope, oh babe you’re going to love this!
This isn’t actually a bad book at all. And I WOULD recommend it to people. As far as the writing goes, it’s a 4 star book. However, my anger and my pettiness won out.
Basic plot summary - Our FMC goes to an album release party for an internationally famous band where she meets the base player. Sparks fly, and it become a romance between the two of them. She ends up getting hired by the band as their lyricists and together she and the MMC write music together and get SPICY!
I actually really love this book up until the 70% marker where shit hit the fan!
The beginning felt cozy, spicy, and reminded me of a small town romance. Once you get to the 70% point there’s a plot twist which didn’t sit right with me. In the end, I didn’t want them to end up together and I hated the characters.
I would recommend this though to people who like books like Magnolia Parks for example. However, I don’t like books with lots of drama and toxicity because it makes me anxious. I also hate the pregnancy trope and this was the most frustrating one I’ve ever read.
However, I know there are thousands of people who enjoy books like this, so I would just recommend it to people who like these types of stories. It really is just a matter of personal preference. But the writing and the characters were SOLID.
Towards the end, I literally couldn’t put it down and it got me out of a reading slump. It also evoked an amazing amount of rage inside of me. So I feel like any book that can get me out of a slump, catch me off guard, and create that much of an emotional reaction out of me is a good book.
Maybe I should stop being petty and up the rating to 4 ... It was a good book, but I’m so irrationally angry over what happened!
I would also say this is a 3 on the spicy scale.
I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was such an amazing and incredible read! I am shocked this is Cece's first book! It was written so well!
Walker and Clare’s story was everything! Walker is a part of a famous band called Whisper Smith. Clare meets Walker at a party and the two have an instant connection. The chemistry between them was something else. The spice was so good. Walker and Clare are just so perfect for each other.
I loved the adhd representation in this book. I related to it so much.
I fell in love with all the characters in this book. This book truly had amazing characters.
This book had so much funny dialogue. I seriously laughed out loud so many times!
Rock/hippie band ✔️ Hot bassist ✔️ Chemistry from the start ✔️ Spice ✔️ Funny dialogue ✔️
Wow, I absolutely adored this book. I was gifted this book by the author and in all honestly was shocked that this was her first book. I loved the underlining ADHD representation in the main character and her funny dialogue. I also loved the band characters and the chemistry between the main two characters. The poetry in this book was beautiful and I loved how it played a role in the story.
I’m not sure if there will be more books in the series, but if there are, the author can take my money now.
Firstly I wanted to thank Cece for sending me this books and these cute stickers🫶🏼
