I received an ARC of, DK Eyewitness Croatia, by Dk Eyewitness. Croatia is such a beautiful country. This book has great pictures of Croatia, things to do, see, eat, sleep, and so much more. A great guidebook of Croatia.

Having been to Croatia before, I found this book brilliant. It’s made me want to visit some of the places we never got to see.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

The DK Eyewitness Travel Guides are leaps & bounds ahead of their competitors usually. A brilliant help whilst travelling recently in Croatia. However there was less information on customs and habits of the people living in the country. For example the equivalent for Egypt explicitly warned one of the locals begging for tips, or "baksheesh." So when arriving in Cairo and having strangers asking or even demanding tips for often ridiculous requests, I was prepared for it and it honestly rarely ever got to me. I would have appreciated a better heads up to how lazy and demotivated some of the people along the coast can be.

Regardless of this, I shall stick to this series for any future travels. Each is by a different order and their publications remain a pleasure to use.

Also such a pity that more people other than Germany & Italy do not visit the country. I have never witnessed such beauty in my life.

Solid build quality with good paper, nice illustrations and interesting history and general guide to Croatia. But I felt it could do with better suggestions for how to best spend time in places, instead of a directory of attractions. I couldn't see why some of the diagrams of churches etc were necessary if you're visiting the church anyway, just wasted space. And I would have preferred the information about accommodation/restaurants/transportation to be included contextually with the information of each location. There was almost not guidance around getting between places either, which makes sense when you have Google Maps etc, but could be useful to avoid pitfalls (eg. getting a local stopping bus instead of a direct coach because you go to the wrong bus station).

I'm struggling to understand who this guide is aimed at, but it wasn't the best for backpacking. I'll probably go back to Lonely Planet.

I have never read a book with SO MUCH INFORMATION. Seriously this book is CHOCK FULL OF INFORMATION. Each page is loaded with paragraphs about things like transportation to who ruled which city 2,000 years ago. I almost felt like there was too much information in that the book made it hard to know what is useful to know so I more or less ended up skimming this book. I do highly recommend it if you're planning to visit Croatia in the near future and want to know all the culture tidbits you can.

I'm a fan of the Eyewitness guides, but I don't think that this particular book is as well done as others in the series. Or perhaps this format works better for cities rather than countries. In any case, I haven't been using this guide as much as I'd anticipated while planning for an upcoming trip. Instead, I'm finding Rick Steves, Rough Guides, Lonely Planet and other guides more useful.

Another great Eyewitness travel guide. These books have so much detail, which is great -- but they're so huge. I'm beginning to like the Top Ten versions of these books almost better, with their brief tidbits and pull out maps. But, this is good, too. It'll be very helpful for my upcoming trip.

I love the DK Travel Guides with their amazing pictures and descriptions for arm chair travel to places where I'd really like to go (Croatia, Morocco) but there's little chance I'll actually make it. If I could figure out an enjoyable/non-exhausting way to travel with my family (husband, 2 tweens) from Venice to Split, I might actually make it to Croatia next summer. Ideas anyone?

I went through 1st 100 pages, last 20 pages (chapters on history, geography, Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia, general touristic information: money, police, hospitals, culture...) and read some pages here and there in-between. It is a very good touristic book, which gives short and the most important information.

Great book! The large amount of illustration and infographics makes the DK books not just travel guides, but also a historical and architectural essay about the place. There are no other travel guides that matches the level of detail and presentation of DK. Keep it up!

Although the book did not open properly on my kindle, I could see enough to tell that this would be very useful if travelling to Croatia. We have been a number of times so reading this and looking at the great photos was just like going back.

Great pictures, not all that helpful beyond that in terms of planning a trip goes. Maybe these would be better if I was going on a tour.

Useful for planning a trip to travel around Croatia, but lacks enough specifics to be as useful in each individual place

Wish I could pack my bags tomorrow! This guide packed a lot in to show culture and nature.
