I loved the cover, but the story just made me cringe. I only got 10% into it before I slapped a DNF on it (and I never really do this.) to me it read like really bad fan fiction.
Who just lays their boyfriend to rest, who was killed in a tragic car accident and within the week has moved into his mysterious moody brothers apartment, which by the way is like a mansion on the top floor... So many rooms I lost count... An apartment like that just doesn't exist. Anyway, so she moves in with the brother who she's only met once, briefly at the boyfriends funeral. Then he bursts into her apartment which the dad owns and is evicting her from and demands she live with him. She's moved in a couple of hours and she already has the lusty thoughts and feelings... It just doesn't make sense!
Normally I live by the 'If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say it' rule. But I just found this story ridiculous and cringe worthy. It felt very unreal and silly.
This book was so twisted but good! Talk about a moody man and a crazy girl who loves it. Lol, ok I love it too! The spice in life... Love the POV chapters explained some questions I had. Overall it was a great short read ;)
I read this because it was on a "to read" list of a friend of mine and it dud sound interesting. While the concept kept my attention, I felt like there were holes in the story. I would read a part and wonder if I missed something. I would go back a few pages and realize that I didn't miss anything, there was just a hole. For example, one minute Sloane is panicking thinking that she and Siva slept together. (they didn't) then, two pages later she states how she was considering joining him in the shower. Wait?! When did she get comfortable for sex with Siva and when the hell did that all happen!? I felt lost. If the author skipped it thinking we would just figure it out, then she was wrong. I spent more time trying to figure out missing parts than reading the actual story.
I don’t want to give anything away with this story, but the relationship development between Sloane and Siva, is so amazing. Micalea gives the reader an amazing story that is so life like that you can picture this type of relationship in real life. It isn’t one of those unbelievable relationships, but has more of a complicated path to happiness that everyone can relate to. I will warn you there is a situation that may trigger you, but you shouldn’t let that stop you from reading this amazing work of art. If you love romances that are real, than you need to read this book as soon as possible.
Wow! Some truly messed up relationships in this book...But in the typical fiction way...love eventually prevails. I have read this author's other books and would recommend you not judge the quality of her other works from this book. While I enjoyed the quick read nature of this book, there were some holes in the story probably things that could have been fixed with better editing. But nonetheless, a nice story line.
The book started out intriguing; I appreciated the complexity of the emotions. I felt like the characters never really developed and I kept waiting for the climax of the story. It was disappointing that at one point, it started skipping ahead months and then years. I'm just left unfulfilled.
I almost didn't read this book because I thought it would be too dark and depressing. Luckily I gave it a chance because it wasn't what I was expecting. It had it's dark moments, but that's something that just made the book so much better.
