From Lilac Wolf and Stuff

Review written by Lilith

Olivia is a writer, but she doesn't like to talk about it because once she tells people that she writes erotica they shy away from her or look at her like she's a freak. Lately though, she's beginning to wonder if maybe she is in the wrong field because she has a wicked case of writer's block. She decides to take her happy doggy to the dog park, hoping the fresh air will help break her writer's block. What she find's there does way more than break her writer's block, it also helps her break down the wall she has built around her heart!

What can I say about this short novella except, OMG! This is an erotic novel (in case anyone hasn't figured out yet, I love reading these types of books) and it does not disappoint in the least! While this story is only 70-ish pages long the author gives plenty of background on the characters and MUCH detail when it comes to the sex scenes. I actually had to stop and catch my breath after reading one of the scenes. My hubby tells me, he can tell when I am reading a good scene because of all the "oh mys" that come out of my mouth.

I don't want to give away too much detail, but I will say this, RUN to get this book. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to read more by this author.

I will start with letting all that read this know that I LOVE Gillian Colbert's work! Her writing is so crisp and real that it brings you right into the story which allows for the reader to experience and not just read :)

Olivia is an author with a past and a current bad case of writer's block. She also has a huge impenetrable brick wall built around her heart. Strong, determined and on a mission, she takes a break from staring at the blank screen of doom and takes her dog Regina out for a walk to the dog park. Once there, Regina makes friends with a young french bulldog. The dogs friendship leads to Olivia meeting the handsome artist Jason.

From the first day of meeting there was no denying the attraction between Olivia and Jason. They become virtually inseparable good friends. That is until a woman shows up at Jason's art studio and is all over him with her confessions of love (which are also confessed by Jason to the woman as well). From there on out it's a vivid, sensual and inspirational eye opener for both Jason and Olivia.

Breaking Through by Gillian Colbert

What a good story written on so few pages. A chance encounter at a dog park between Jason and Olivia leads to dinner and a very hot ‘tasting scene’ that gets to out of hand for Olivia comfort. She’s not use to letting people into her life because she has been let down so often. Jason is patient though and convinces her that being ‘just friends’ without benefits is all he wants…until he wants more.

The only thing that confused me in this story was the name of Jason’s sister’s dog…Monster. It was the same name of the dog in Simon Says so at first I though the stories intertwined but they don’t. These short stories gave me a taste of how well Ms Colbert can write now I’m waiting for the long novels please…

My favorite line in the story by Jason… “No, Liv, I'm not saying let's get down and dirty. Well, not yet, anyway. What kind of guy do you take me for? I need to be romanced."
