7/10 (good): A helpful book that argues for the importance of expository preaching in evangelism. It also covers most of the useful ground of general evangelistic preaching in a helpful way — everything from explaining sin, the usefulness of humour and illustrations, to making an invitation. At times it's a little repetitive and the writing lacks flair, so sometimes it felt a bit of a slog. But it's down-to-earth and practical, and there are a fair few pithy quotes and illustrations scattered throughout that will be useful. There aren't many practical books on evangelistic expository preaching, so for that reason alone, it's worthwhile.

R. Larry Moyer in his new book, “Show Me How to Preach Evangelistic Sermons” part of the Show Me How Series published by Kregel Publications communicates the motivation and principles that enable pastors and speakers to communicate the gospel in a preaching or speaking situation.

Individuals who deliver a message from god based on His word are called Preachers or Evangelists and they are generally found behind a pulpit on Sundays or weeknight meetings. However, there are those that do the same work from blogs and other media that would benefit from this book just as much. In two sections: Looking At Our Opportunity and Looking At Our Message Moyer breaks down what is needed to truly bring across God’s message of love and redemption. Each chapter draws a Conclusion and then provides question for Reflecting. This book is a resource that will be used over and over again. I recommend this book highly.

The book is about evangelistic preaching, but I read more things about personal evangelism. Some chapters are helpful, but not very many.
