The protagonist Afang was a girl dreaming to be a dancer. She joined in the dance theater presided by professor Zhuo. Under Zhuo's instruction and encouragement, she turned from a self-abased and people-alienated girl into a successful dancer and beloved companion.
It is my second novel by the same lady author. It is an even better written novel than her first novel: Song From Cafe Heartbroken, the characters even more rounded and well built, and the themes of the struggle between art and ordinary life are very well presented.
I read this when I was in University. It helped me get through my worst breakup and darkest times. The characters are so lively in every way, their personalities and values are to be questioned to myself. Which one of them do I want to be? Is it a better way of living? What would I do if I am this person? The story is very emotional, if you like that, highly recommended.
