Unlocking the Mysteries of Cataloging A Workbook of Examples by Haynes, Elizabeth, Fountain, Joanna F.. Published by Libraries Unlimited,2005, Paperback
This is not the greatest workbook in the world. It is essentially a stack of photocopies that have been bound together. It would be better if the copies were clearer, or if you didn't need a magnifying glass to read some parts.
We used this book for one of my cataloging courses; I had both Dr. Haynes and Dr. Fountain as professors at SHSU. What I enjoyed about the Unlocking the Mysteries of Cataloging workbook is that the examples are plentiful and include actual scans of the items. If the scans are unclear, Libraries Unlimited has full-color scans available on their website; all you have to do is go to their website and you can view them in all their oversized glory. The workbook was very helpful in aiding me in the creation of MARC records.
This is just a workbook. It basically has a lot of pictures of materials to be cataloged. You will learn next to nothing just by reading it. Try cataloging some of the stuff in it.
