The story line was ok, but it was very poorly written. I made my self finish, and I have no interest in getting the next book. And that is bad considering this one left you right in the middle of the story line. Which in itself is something I hate. I don't mind trilogy's, but I like a book that stands on its own. If you like the characters enough you will look for the next book to continue their story. You shouldn't have to buy another book just to finish the main plot line.

horrible! poorly written, Katherine, the main character is shallow and stupid ; she only thinks about clothes, shoes and expensive bags. The dialogues made me want to bang my head. She doesn't even realize she got to the 18th century. How in the world do you not realize that?? How can it take you 2 days to realise?
I will not read the next books in the series, this book was a waste of time.

When I sit down to review a book I try to be honest and constructive. I won't lie. Lorraine Beaumont's Forgotten Time has a few editing issues and there were a few noticeable slips in to first person from a third person point of view. These errors, in my opinion, were minor and didn't detract from the story but is was one of the reasons I couldn't give a full five stars. As a self published author I can completely relate to problems concerning editing and finding good editors.

So now moving swiftly to the reasons this book deserved a 4 star rating:

Katherine was a thoroughly enjoyable character to read. She is funny, hopeless, clumsy and about as normal as a person can be! Which is lovely. As a reader I was able to relate to her more than characters with super powers or teens in YA books that fall in love with a boy at first sight. She is a little naughty, makes bad choices and is flawed. We learn she is beautiful through the eyes of the gorgeous, yet arrogant, Sebastian, though I liked that she was not skinny and perfect. She is also disastrous romantically and has no clue how to seduce a man such as rich, brooding Sebastian.

I admittedly didn't like Sebastian as a character. He is arrogant, selfish and cared little for the women he slept with. Katherine, though he believes she is his estranged fiance Marguerite, brings out all his best and worse traits. There romance scenes were frustrating, written well and left you wanting them to be together yet hoping Sebastian would shake off his demanding, selfish side.

The plot itself kept me riveted. So much was going on behind the initial romance story. Katherine, through the power of an old magical necklace, is sent back through time and takes the place of marguerite a has a riddle she must solve in order to set right a mistake that was made long ago. But beneath this is a twisted tale of debauchery, murder, sex, lies and torment.

I thoroughly enjoyed Forgotten Time though the quick POV changes sometimes confused me. At first I found them a little frustrating but by halfway through I was used to it and found I enjoyed dipping in to the mind of every character, especially Katherine and Sebastian. This is a great book with a few naughty moments. I would suggest ignoring minor errors and just enjoy the fun story being told. I look forward to reading book 2.

Great storyline, but a bit confusing, convoluted and bouncing back and forth, so you have to really pay attention or you'll lose the train of events, as you can lose them even paying attention, but in not paying attention you could lose the train of events and have a problem getting back on that train. But in spite of that it was a looooong but great read. and I really enjoyed it. And, as a point of interest, if Sebastian had been a little gentler and didn't just thrust through, he might have noticed that Katherine was a virgin.
I was a little disappointed that it really winds up to be a cliff hanger in that the whole intent of the story as set forth in the beginning of the book, never comes to fruition in this book and, in reading the jest of what the next book covers, it again seems to, hopefully, banish/void the curse, which I, again, figured this book was going to do. But, then again Book Two might turn out to be another cliff hanger (which I hate).
Other than that, Ms. Beaumont is a great storyteller. Now if she could only arrange to get herself a good proofreader. The book was riddled with sentences that left out words, mixed up sentences, etc. If she is her own proofreader, she does herself a great disservice, as it is easy for the writer to miss errors, because he/she knows what he/she wants to say and doesn't notice/overlooks missing words, etc. as they skim through. And, a good proofreader reads EVERY word in the story to make sure that the words are correctly placed and none are missing and all sentences make sense.
That's just a bit of constructive criticism that will aid her in becoming not just a good writer (which she is), but a great writer.

The story was OK... oh who am I kidding? This was rubbish. Because:
1. Too many characters were introduced with very little time for development.
2. The formatting was not right and there were simple mistakes which should have been picked up on during editing, if it was edited at all.
3. It didn't feel authentic during the parts that were set in Victorian England
4. There were very confusing and inconsistent switches between the present and past eras.
5. The ending was abrupt, unsatisfactory and definitely didn't convince me to read more of the series.
6. The Kindle edition (which was free when I bought it) had 'special keys' that were supposed to link to bonus material but I kept seeing the page to buy the book :/
7. It was such a struggle to get through and not really an inspiring read.
It's a shame because I like time travel and I like history. Perhaps in other hands, this could have been so much better.

The story started off okay and I was somewhat interested in reading it, but then it became very tedious to read very quickly. The book didn't make sense, but I kept hoping things would be cleared up when the book ended - they didn't. Also, the characters from the Victorian era didn't behave correctly (in my opinion), but instead behaved the way you'd think modern people would. All in all, not a book I'd recommend or a series I'll be continuing.

Content: lots of sexual situations/scenes

i got this by mistake, but read it anyway, and even though i'm not into chick-lit/romance, there were parts of this that made me laugh really hard and stoked the internal fires. Don't know if i'll buy book 2, but it kept my interest and was well written.

This had all my favorites: time period, suspense, and strong female lead. Was so involved in the story I didn't realize I was at the end until the words showed. Will most assuredly pick up the next installment.

A well written paranormal time travel book. Ms Beaumont captures the reader from the first page and doesn't let go until the last. The world is described in great detail and the characters grow as the story progresses. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Ravenhurst series.

This book was a bit convoluted and sometimes too complex, but I liked it. I had expected something different, more on the knighthood, but it seems that is another book in this series. I liked the characters and would miss some of them if the next book is in another era.

I enjoyed this book but I hate books that end on cliff hangers because I have to go find the next one immediately if I really liked the book so I can find out what happened. Which I did!

Needs more research

The storyline was good, but I wish the author had spent more time researching the language of Victorian England. The Victorian character spoke too much modern English and never questioned Katherine’s verbiage. I recently read an time travel book where the medieval characters questioned everything out of the time traveler’s mouth. Gentry would never have understood her modern common accent.

A very mysterious beginning to this time-travel romance series. The apparent heroine has traveled back in time via a beautiful blood-red stone amulet which was given to her by a mysteriously, dashing, older gentleman at her place of employment which is an auction house in London. Naturally, she has a hard time accepting what has actually happened to her, but knowing there are strange legends that accompany the amulet, she's quick-witted enough to figure out what has happened, just not why. She is enlightened by the initial bringer of the amulet that her assistance is needed in order to right a destiny gone awry. So she settles herself to figuring out her role in this bizarre turn of events, the sooner the better, so she can be delivered back to her own life. Of course, the story comes with the prerequisite chiseled male reeking of sensuality and a tortured existence, until he sets eyes on our heroine, that is. Ravenhurst Series looks to be very promising!

I hate to give such a poor rating, but then again it's a poor book. Choppy writing, no characterisation, confusing and poorly edited. The final straw was that it's clearly set in America, and yet the author introduces a castle dating back to Arthurian times! Needless to say, I did not finish this book.

Got fed up there is something off about the writing style, the main character is first person and annoying, the author couldn't be bothered to look up what necromancy really meant. Then it's a time travel romance so you expect the character to jump back in time which she does then the hero flashes back to further back it's just annoying not to my taste.

I really enjoyed the witty main characters, and the beautiful scenery. The time travel part gets a bit confusing sometimes, but I really enjoy the story and can't wait to continue the series! :)

A great story, but a slow burner

No spoilers. Ok. This is a great story. I love historical, I love time travel, and I love naughtiness. This book had it all. Katherine is sassy, and cheeky, but there is a vulnerability that keeps poking through that makes you want to hold her and protect her. There is a lot to the other characters in this book, something that can be expanded on hopefully as the series progresses. That does not in any way detract from the fact that this could be read as a standalone.
This got 4 stars because there was so much going on, to build the foundations of the other characters, so many story branches at once that if I missed a couple of nights reading (damn my new shift pattern) it was sometimes hard to recall little bits of the characters when I resumed.

Wow! Completely different from what I expected

There I was, expecting a relatively straightforward gothic romance. Until ... click here, and the totally different approach to this book became apparent. Didn’t that increase the fun level of this book?

That difference in approach made for a fascinating read and Marguerite/Katherine tries to understand what has happened, what will happen next and the whole concept of starting off in present day and ending up in Victorian England.

I doubt the different approach will disappoint.

Interesting story

I read the whole book and I still don't know what the Legend really is. It would seem that some characters were just introduced into the book out of nowhere. And why is it that with these time travel books... The women are wimpy when they travel back through time, I can't relate to them at all!!!! It was a decent well written story and the erotic parts were epic. It had a broken flow to it though.

Not what I was expecting

This was a very different kind of book. I really didn't get the whole key thing, and the story seemed to jump back and forth so much, it was confusing to me. Also, it really means you have to go to the next book to advance the story. Good plot, weird characters. I was confused over who were the good guys and who were the bad.

Forgotten Time

Really great time travel romance with the added mystery of a hidden agenda and a man from centuries ago who is determined to right some past wrong. The interactive game is a distraction and after the first few keys I skipped it. The novel does not need it as it's a good story without it.

Great historical time travel romance story.

I loved the story line. I gave only 4 stars because of several typos. These are personally distracting to me. Otherwise, I loved the many layers and stories revolving in the story. I loved how they connected and each one was given fair closure. I recommend to all time travel romancers.
