From Book 1: Awakening - Volume 1 contains the first three stories in the Ava Delaney series so far.
Thirst:
Ava Delaney calls herself a hybrid - a living, breathing human who happens to have vampire poison running through her veins. The only thing greater than her thirst for human blood is her capacity for guilt. She does her best to avoid the human world, for everyone's sake.
When Ava accidentally enslaves a human while saving him from a vampire, she realises she has to look for help setting him free. Despite her misgivings, she expands her world but finds herself dragged into a possible vampire civil war. With the help of some new friends with ambiguous loyalties, she tries to find a way to keep her human, and herself, alive.
Taunt:
All Ava wants to do is forget about the vampires, but they won’t leave her alone. Between her failing business, angry landlord, disloyal friends, and vampire stalkers, life is starting to feel pretty stressful. When Ava finally deals with her biggest problem, she is caught up in the chain of events it triggers and taken along a path she can’t escape from.
Ava has to figure out what exactly is her biggest threat: the humans, the vampires, the Council—or her true heritage.
Tempt:
There’s a monster running around Dublin, and it’s up to Ava to catch it. The pressure’s on, and she’s becoming as cynical as Peter. But when a demon marks her friend, and a possible threat from England spells war, Ava’s left with a huge choice to make. The lives of one or many.
With a little help, Ava has the chance to win all of her battles… if the darkness doesn’t take her over first.
So is Ava a hybrid or what? While this was enjoyable, I still have no idea what exactly she is since everyone keeps saying she isn't a vampire but she has fangs and craves blood sooooo what's that about?
2) Taunt 4 Stars
Well now I know what exactly Ava is as this book explains it in detail! Everyone has an agenda and poor Ava is on everyone's list..
3) Tempt 4 Stars
Very good read, super engaging though I'm truly dying to know all of Ava's abilities. She seems strong in some aspects but so weak in others. Now that Becca has been dealt with, I'm wondering if we'll ever find out why she was so wary of Ava, even when she became a much stronger being...
BTW...we get to know some of Eddie's story but who or what the hell is Maeve?
I really enjoy Ava's world... I kind of hated her in the first 3 books for being an insufferable teen but then she started using her brains, lol. So not mis these series, I am going to read the next boxed set right now
I enjoyed this series. I like the different lore and the world building is good. This is the perfect read for someone who prefers story over hot scenes.
I read these novellas a while ago and figured i'd put out a review now that book 4 in the series is out. This was a very engaging series, a twist on the old vampire tale.
Ava is a hybrid and is sassy and smart and strong. And you get to see the down-to-earth vulnerability that makes you relate to Ava so well. You'll get vampires and magic and a lot of action. Immediately after reading the first book, i liked it enough to buy 2 and 3 right away.
I liked the books more as the series progressed and have just downloaded [[ASIN:B008UBGZ96 Taken (Ava Delaney #4)]] and can't wait to catch up with Ava Delaney.
The first three books of the Ava Delaney series kept me at the edge of my seat. The idea of a tainted angel/seraphim/nephalim creature trying to survive against all odds is refreshing. Ava is broken, and flawed, but she doesn't want to be. In the first three books, you can really see how she is starting to come into her own. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Thirst: Great well written and twisted story. Intense emotions at times but very intriguing. The characters are definitely enjoyable to follow. I recommend this book. Taunt: Another well written story, interesting plot. I am enjoying this crazy journey. I would recommend this book. Tempt: Wonderful story, enjoyable characters, plenty of action and intensity. I recommend this book.
Really enjoyed the book. Lots of great stories and discoveries. Fast-paced and intense. Interesting nuances of good and evil. Great start to the series.
Very enjoyable urban fantasy with a good plot, interesting and complex characters and a great deal of potential for future books. Definitely recommended.
