About the author

De padre médico y agricultor, Pedro Prado cursó sus humanidades en el Instituto Nacional e ingresó en el anexo de Arquitectura de la Escuela de Ingeniería, sin llegar a terminar su carrera. A los 20 años, cuando falleció su padre, empezó a ejercer alternadamente sus tres profesiones sin título: de arquitecto, agricultor y escritor. En 1949 se le otorgó el Premio Nacional de Literatura. Murió en su residencia de Viña del Mar el 31 de enero de 1952, a las 20:15 horas, víctima de un síncope que lo dejó inconsciente.
