I downloaded Jill Pritchett's debut novel VIEW FROM MY SOUL at Starbuck's in West Hollywood (free WiFi) and while drinking my coffee began reading. Immediately, I was sucked into Sarah, the main character's life. The rich, colorful description of her Appalachian heritage, Chicory Hill, the barn, the house...especially SPOOFER the horse -- it all captivated me. Even Scout, her wonderful dog companion!
Jill has a brisk, confident style to her writing allowing me easy access to Sarah, her life, drama, conflict...and fun.
There was a comfortable, cozy feel to this thriller, perhaps because I liked the protagonist so much. I enjoyed her friend Dody and thier ongoing outings. Sarah, for the woman who has everything, is fighting her own demons as well, making her character believable and human. I felt for her.
And, the killer, known from the beginning, always had that black cloud hovering, keeping the prose tense, the mood volatile. I knew the denouement would have a thrilling payoff. And, it did. Well done. I look forward to this writer's next outing!
I am so happy author, Jull Pritchett mailed her paperback debut novel to me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to, not only adults, but young adults as well.
Sarah Seere is a psychic who loves her horses and those working on her farm in the Appalachian Mountains, such as Jacob and Mrs. Shaw.
A second murdered girl is found on a mountaintop just above Sarah’s home. This has Sarah very worried about her own safety. She uses all her psychic abilities to find out who the murderer is.
There is no secret as to who murdered Heather and Katie. The two girls aren’t the last he kills either. Rand wants nothing better than to silence Sarah before she figures it all out.
You’ll find yourselves on the edge of your seats, as I, hoping Sarah will listen closer to her spirit guides (Sage) and save herself from the same demise as Heather and Katie.
This is a very well written, suspenseful debut novel by Jill Pritchett and I look forward to reading another novel by her.
TWO MURDERS … A MISSING CHILD … AND A PSYCHIC HOT ON THE TRAIL!!!
Love a good mystery. Always have. When a touch of the supernatural is added, I’m beyond delirious. Such is the case with View From My Soul by Jill Pritchett. A mystery steeped in a psychic’s vision, it’s a great read.
The story introduces a whole host of fabulous characters, none more charming than Sarah Seere. A wealthy heiress, her other claim to fame is that she possesses a sixth sense. A gift that she’s had trouble embracing, two homicides on her side of the mountain convince her to take another look. Using it to track down the killer, it’s a game of figuring out what the heck her heavenly guides are saying before victim three is claimed. Since the intended quarry is her, it’s paramount she untangles the angelspeak before it’s too late.
Wasting no time in getting into the heart of the story, Jill Pritchett’s writing is crisp and clear as a Granny Smith apple. Also took to Sarah and her friends as naturally as a chocolate to ice cream. All easy to love, I can’t wait to tag along on future adventures.
In Sarah Seere, Jill has created an engaging heroine, even more so for being middle-aged and having her share of insecurities. She surrounds Sarah with plenty of components for a great tale ~ a frightening, yet plausible villain, good friends, mystery, ghosts, visions, and a beautiful mountain backdrop.
Jill serves it up with a conversational, informal writing style that makes View From My Soul a pleasure to read, even if at times it’s a spooky pleasure.
