1st ed. Six stories by the master of noir fiction, Cornell Woolrich. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket, rear panel slightly soiled. Some professional restoration to edges, not visable. The dark blue and black front panel is bright. Scarce in this condition. A scan of the jacket is available.
Mixed bag of short stories written under the William Irish pen name of Cornell Woolrich. It was published in 1948 and the 7 stories span the period from 1937 to 1947. Most of the stories are just average but the standout is "Fire Escape".
I was lucky enough to score a beautiful hardback first of this in a very good jacket. A pleasure to hold and read. These stories are in Woolrich/Irish’s crime mode which I don’t love like his suspense thriller pieces, but they’re top notch with interesting developed characters.
Fire-Escape is an outstanding story, worth five stars alone. Others were a little average, still very enjoyable though. Really recommend, love Mr Woolrich's work!
