Review in 75 Words or Less: Shutterbox, Vol. 4 is by far my favorite volume of this series thus far. While the plot does not move forward too much in this volume, it definitely makes up for it by giving the reader some back story. The secondary characters' actions begin to make more and more sense, and we sort of figure out why Megan is at M.U.S.E.
Final Verdict: This volume is a wonderful addition to this amazing series. Sadly, there are only two volumes left in this remarkable series. And it is unclear when (and possibly if) Tokyopop will be releasing the next volume. I attempted to locate more information on this series, and unfortunately, there is zero mention of the 5th volume of Shutterbox. So it looks like I will just have to wait and see if this series will ever get its ending.
Shutterbox Volume 4 Author: Rikki Simons & Tavisha Genre: Fantasy/Romance/Manga Synopsis: The leaders of the other areas of Merridiah are introduced as they come together to decide what to do with Megan since she has merged with the ultimate creator, Lahlii, as they fear it could be dangerous or destroy all of Merridiah. Plus we finally get to learn more about Megan’s, AJ’s and Dane’s past life together. And finally get some romance between Megan and AJ! Review: More than halfway through the series we are finally getting to see some new characters and get more insight into Megan’s connection to all of them. The story can still be a little confusing, but answers are finally starting to emerge. The glimpses back into Megan, Dane and AJ’s past life together was cute and by far the best parts of the story so far. Rating: ⁎⁎⁎⁎
*cry* I was so sad when I found out the series got canceled by Tokyopop. It's one of the most original I've seen in forever. (and only 2 books to finish it *sigh* - at least the authors claim to still be looking for a new venue to publish - but having seen the author's lj - her mom is descending into dementia, it's probably not her first priority.)
It's a good series, following alternate dimension 'muses' at their school - and the 'living muse' who is their anchor to earth. The story had finally expanded to something more universal and I was really looking forward to it.
Love the art too, all the viciously strange mythological creatures, the gothic lolita dress, and of course, the pretty, androgynous twins.
I really enjoyed Shutterbox, Volume 4! Beautiful art, more about characters' past lives, and a kiss from Adrien - hope for Megan . . . I sincerely hope that Volumes 5 & 6 find a publisher sometime in the near future. Seriously, am I the only one who adores Thom?
