Getting Better

Rate this book
Just when all her friends are bidding sayonara to the single life, twenty-seven year-old Karen is still reaping its benefits---a cool apartment with no curfew, a creative job with a flexible schedule, and a cute boyfriend who looks just about ready to pop the question. Her biggest challenges so far are decorating her apartment and playing therapist to problematic friends, and except for a few minor hitches---noisy neighbors, difficult clients, neurotic officemates--her midtwenties life is a perfect balance of having all the single liberties plus a sure shot at wedded bliss in the horizon. Sure, she has a baby lust, sure, she wishes everyone would stop asking her for a wedding date, and sure, it would be nice if her boyfriend would be a little more attentive... no real reason for her to want to change anything--until an unexpected turn of events rock her boat and forces her to swim the singles scene once again.

Tara has been publishing stories since she was 21, but it wasn't until turned 28, after a three-year stint as managing editor of a women's magazine, that she started writing contemporary fiction for women.

Her interests, apart from writing, include travelling, organizing her apartment (which is turning out to be a lifelong preoccupation), and designing covers for imaginary books that she has yet to find the time to write.

Tara is also the author of novellas Almost Married and Between Dinner and Morning After and has written other books as well. She was awarded the National Book Award in 2003 for her work in Almost Married.
