Reports from a Distant Place is about life in the shadow of death. It is a unique portrayal of survival during the Holocaust, by hiding in plain sight. It is also about living, dangerously, under the Red Star. The last chapter, In America, is about hope and a reinvented life.

I liked the format used by this author. Mr. Shatz’s first-person memories when added to other historical sources helps my understanding of what went on in this darkest of times. Thankyou Frank Shatz for being brave enough and for all you’ve done to help others. You are an inspiration and I am thankful you shared your experiences with us.
