When Arthur's mother orders him to get rid of some of the old junk cluttering his room, Arthur decides to have a garage sale. But when his first customer, Buster, doesn't have enough money for the toy he wants, a trade is worked out. Soon word spreads that Arthur has great stuff to trade, and by the end of the day, Arthur has gotten rid of all his old junk. His mother is pleased, until she finds out that D.W. is in business too--renting out her room to store all of Arthur's new junk! Arthur, Clean Your Room! comes complete with a page of peel-off stickers to place on words throughout the book and another page of colorful garden stickers to get new readers started writing and illustrating their very own stories about Arthur and D.W.
Marc Tolon Brown is perhaps best known for his series of children's books about Arthur the aardvark, which was turned into an animated television show on PBS. Brown is a three-time Emmy Award winner, for his role on the television show inspired by his books.
He lives on Martha's Vineyard and in New York City with his wife, Laurie Krasny Brown. He has three children, sons Tolon and Tucker, and daughter Eliza. The names of his two sons have been hidden in all of the Arthur books except for one: Arthur's Tooth.
My daughter liked it. It was easy to read and understand. The ending was not was not what I expected it would be though it could've been better. Anyway, I had a good time and laugh.
This story is about Arthur and how he needs to clean his room and get rid of some clutter, so he decides to have a garage sale. His first customer doesn't have enough money to get the item he wants so they decide on a trade. This is important because it shows how kindness and compassion towards other people is amazing.
Arthur, Clean Your Room brings back many memories involving my childhood. This is partly because I loved Arthur books in general, but also because my mom used to read this book to me when I needed to clean my room. This book could easily be used to teach young children how to clean up after themselves. It does not preach cleanliness, but rather shows the importance of cleaning in a funny and realistic way that children can relate too. It is also a great book if you want to introduce the idea of problem solving to children—Arthur needed to clean his room but didn’t want to get rid of his toys so he came up with a solution. This would be a great book to have in a classroom because kids will enjoy the humorous ending and be able to relate to Arthur’s situation. I highly recommend this book!
One mans junk is another mans treasure is the first thought that came to my mind when I read this book to my daughter. This story touches on many foundamental learnings. Hygiene, sharing, obedience, responsiblity, cooperation, and caring. Extention Activity: Challenge the children to share a toy that they no longer play with to a less fortunate child or you could create a swap within the classroom.
This book can be easy for students to read if they are familiar with the television series. Therefore, it creates a book transitional chapter book that students can read once they have schema for the charaters. Although this book does appeal to childen, I am not a fan of how much converstaion is in the book or how the phrases are set up. I feel that this may cause a struggle for emerging readers who need help with fluency.
Arthur mom expect him to get rid of all the junk in his room. DW suggests a garage sale...DW is full of business ideas but does she solve the problem or....you'll find out
Also, in this book you'll find out what DW's real name is.
This is a fairly typical entry in the Arthur series of stories. It's a fun take on cleaning up and disposing of old toys and though Arthur's technique was not very effective overall, it's a fun story to read aloud with children.
I really like the Arthur books. In this book, Arthur realizes his room is a mess and he has way too much stuff. Arthur decides to have a garage sale. This book teaches kids about responsibility and that they need to take care of their belongings.
