Sy, Nik, Shani and Monica had been best friends for as long as they could remember. They were all born and raised in Washington D.C. They managed to stay as far away from all the drama that went on in the hood as possible. With college in their near future, life for the foursome couldn’t get any better. That is until love unexpectedly finds them and knocks them down. With everything going so right they are all floating on cloud nine. Confident their lives were headed on the right path, they felt like nothing could go wrong or bring them down. But true to the Law of What goes up must come down. When tragedy strikes and love comes between them it creates a downward spiral that no one could have saw coming. A war is on the rise and they find themselves caught in the middle of it. They are now battling each other and fighting for love. But, when it’s all said and done who will be left standing to live the life of their dreams. This book was extremely hard for me to read. The grammar, spelling and punctuation was horrible. A lot of times, there were no periods to end a sentence and commas were misplaced throughout the whole book. Not only that, but the wrong spelling of words were used (their vs. there, wear vs. where, etc). The story line was JUST OK, but it's very hard to find anything realistic about high school girls who are spending thousands of dollars on clothes almost weekly, yet don't have a job, wealthy parents or boyfriends (initially). The book was also too long. Based on the plot, the book could have gotten started, climaxed and been over with hundreds of pages earlier. I won't say the author has no writing potential (considering I am told this is her first book), but investing in a good editor would have made this book 10 times better. Also, I read some of the reviews on this book and I, without a doubt, know that most of the people who gave this book 5 stars HAD to be friends of the author.
This was a great first novel by Arabia. The first part of the book was mostly about the relationships between a group of close friends and their boyfriends and I found myself really rooting for Sy and Coke. The tragedy that Sy suffered had me in tears because it related to my own experience and the author replayed the scenes very nicely and realistically. Towards the middle and end the action started and at that point it was hard to put down. I'm pretty happy with the ending but there are two characters that got lost in the mix and I'm wondering if they will reappear in a possible sequel....hmmmmmm
I'm ashamed to say this, but this book has been sitting in my cloud on my kindle for over a year and some change. My interest didn't pick back up for this book until I read some of my Facebook friends posts in one of our reading groups. I decided to pick it up and check it out and it was a really good read. It flowed good and I loved the characters. The men and women blended so well together. Loved the action and the romantic aspect of the book. I already have the other books in the series so I'm headed to check those out now. You have a new fan Arabia and sorry it took so long for me to become a fan! Lol!
I had this book on my kindle for a month, GOD I SHOULD HAVE READ THIS SOONER! This book was definitely a five star, I loved all the couples relationship especially coke's and sy. This book was a definite page turner, all the way to the end too. I highly recommend this book to all thats looking for drama, passion, loyalty, and street wars. 10 stars in my book! !
This was my first book by Arabia, this Story is a Definite Page Turner! My Emotions were all over the place!!!! Towards the end, I was on the edge of my seat holding my breath!!! She Most definitely has a Skill for Story Telling! You will not be disappointed! Kindalynn S
I loved the plot and how real the author was with the characters it seem like I was watching a urban movie instead of reading. I have read the whole series love it my favorite couple was money and Victoria
I'm rating this book on the strength that it is the authors first novel...here it goes
The story revolves around four friends, Syria. Nikki, Shani, and Monica. They are the best of friends and truly have each other backs. They get "booed" up with some ballers, Coke, Tre, and Mike, but there friendship remains strong as ever. Coming to there girl rescue, causes a strain in the girls in unbreakable bond. After this situation, all kinds of drama comes at the girls and their boos. Will they survive the hardships that life is sure to bring?
This book would've been so much better if it was edited. There were misspelled words, change of verb tense, omitted or duplicated words in sentences, etc. the grammatical errors took away from the story, but I'm not counting that against the author..this time because it is her first book. Decent "hood" love story.
The words were used out of context, misspelled words and words used in the wrong tense throughout the book was bothersome to me but that is my OCD in effect. I guess this is called Urban Fiction? I generally don't read these books so I had to ask some of my young people the meaning of some of vernacular used. This is like fantasy to me because I have no point of reference. The story line was consistent but for me everything was so farfetched I couldn't relate but I am sure people really live like this? I'm sorry, but when I got to the part about Sy's house being shot up, and her going gangsta, I was cracking up, lol! That mess was hilarious...
Damn, I wish I could give it another star. I started last night (sat) and finished just today (Sun). I couldn't put it down. Needless to say, nothing got done. I wasn't expecting this, it was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed this book. it had everything: friendship, love, drama. I loved all the characters and especially the girl's friendship and loyalty to each other. I found myself laughing and crying at times, I also like the author's surprise characters. I won't spoil for Arabia fans. it had me reminiscing. Lol had me wishing for a Coke or Tre in my life.I already have Part 2 so gotta go.
This book was an enjoyable read. It was a bit unrealistic but the story was well written and the story is fiction. I got past the multi millionaire high schoolers with absentee parents and enjoyed the love stories which were a bit more realistic because neither of the participants were perfect and made mistakes. The book could have used more editing and that is why I couldn't give a five star rating.
Arabia, you did a spectacular job on this one. The storyline was right on point. I so love the relationship the ladies had and not to mention the love they all had for their men! I literal felt like is was apart of this book, that's just how wonderful it was. I laughed, cried and felt the adrenalin of all the characters. I am looking forward to reading many more of Arabia's novels.... Job well done!!
I love the relationships built in this series between friends. All the guys grew up together and all the girls grew up together and all had each others backs. I thought Monica was foul for going against her girls for a negroe. I can say the men wasn't any joke about the people they loved the went hard. Sy was no joke with her crazy ass lol
Great read! Arabia is a great writer and def didnt disappoint with this. From the beginning I was totally engulfed and couldn't put it down. Character development was on point and the story flowed effortlessly. I love the relationship and bond the crew had but I'm all the #teamcokeandsy ! Starting Scorned now! Oh, I definitely recommend this read.
Overall this book was a good read & was well written. It started off slow & I was expecting a bit more action in the beginning. The couples relationships as well as friendships (with the exception of 2) seemed meant to be. Even after the near fatal events, they came back stronger than ever. Looking forward to reading the sequels to this series.
I absolutely loved the drama and it had a real good feel for the end but I already know it is getting ready to POP OFF ... I cannot wait to read Book 2! I think a lot of the men, especially COKE!
I would definitely recommend this to my fellow readers!!!
NOTE: Some of the grammatical errors were unforgiving!
you have to take this ride with coke and Syria, I love this book the love that the girls had for each other! This is one book that I promise you is a must read book. Can wait for part 2!!!!!
I loved the way how all their friendships worked. They all was down for one another. The girls had their bond just as well as the guys. Monica was foul for what she did she could of approached it another way. But I was glad those girls found them some good guys
Wow that book was more then five stars. The characters had me rolling forreal. My fav are Coke and Sy.I can't believe all the drama that happen with all the couples.I knew ole girl wasn't shit to begin with.I can't wait to read the rest of the series
I really enjoyed this book and found that I could relate to the characters. I don't know why some women like thugs but the heart wants what the heart wants. I felt like I was apart of the story and loved how it ended
I had a difficult time reading this book because I had to keep re-reading parts but I finally finished it. I thought the character relationships and story line were good but the punctuation, grammar and spelling were horrible.
I thought this book was really good! I didn't want it to end! A definite page turner! My first book by this author and it definitely won't be the last. I do recommend!
I really enjoyed this book. A definite page turner. It kept me curious and wanting to know what's next. My anticipation level was on a super high!!! Loved it!
