If the Kazak Guardians had a recruiting poster, it would have A select few insane men to fight professional Assassins with super-human abilities. Good medical plan provided. Because surviving the training program to graduation was dangerous, even the first challenge to gain entrance could get you killed. But training was the easy part. Staying alive afterward was the hard part. Kazaks guarded individuals whose lives were deemed critical to the security of the United States. These individuals attracted fanatics and the best professional Assassins money could buy-Liars who could tell lies you believed, Ghosts who could become nearly invisible, and Illusionists who could appear to be anyone, among others. But Lynn wanted no other life-the Kazak Guardians gave her life purpose. She had grown up in the foster care system, neglected and abused, at the mercy of people who didn't care. Even when she finally ran away, her freedom wasn't the renewal she had hoped. So when a friend told her about a unique organization that trained individuals to protect VIPs, she knew it was the life for her. She survived years of training and five deadly challenges to become a Kazak Guardian, and entered a world of extremists and assassins, where each assignment became a deadly contest between Kazak and assassin, with the prize the life of the VIP. In spite of the danger, she enjoyed every assignment with its interesting people, new environments, challenges, and best of all, the occasional opportunity to pretend to be someone other than a Kazak-a tiger in tabby garb.
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and joined the military right out of high school. I served twenty-two years in the United States Air Force as a certified internal auditor. While in the military service, I lived in seven states and two foreign countries, and obtained two degrees: a BS in mathematics and an MS in computer science.
After I retired from the Air Force, I secured a position with Digital Equipment Corporation, located in Bedford, Massachusetts, as a software course developer and instructor. I worked twenty-two years at DEC and held positions as a course developer, course development manager, software engineer, and software engineering manager.
Today, I’m retired and live in Tucson, Arizona, with my wife of fifty-three years. My daughter and two grandchildren live in Maryland. I began writing several years after I retired, when I was seventy. My first two attempts remain in my desk drawer—good ideas, but poorly written. Subsequently, I co-authored, with Jeanne Tomlin, three fantasy novels: Talon of the Raptor Clan, Scales of Justice, and All My Friends Have Wings (young adults). Talon of the Raptor Clan was sold to ePress-online Books and came out in July 2009. Since then I have written two additional novels: The Laughing Hounds (urban fantasy) and The Riss Gamble (science fiction).
My hobbies for the past forty years have been kung fu and tai chi.
Loved Lynn's Rules!! The beginning of the story was a real shock to me and not what I had been expecting. Obviously I had read the synopsis wrong and was confused about the basis of the story, but was pleasantly surprised with the progression of the story, Lynn's personality, and her many adventures.
Was also surprised to find there is romance in this book. I've read 2 other series by this author that had zero romance, (which I still enjoyed imensely) and hadn't been expecting that plot twist!!
This was another fantastic, thrilling adventure-filled series by C.R Daems!
So, parts of this story annoy me to no end. Bodyguards allowing the person they are protecting be first through doors. Bodyguards who don't pay attention to cars. Bodyguards who allow the person they are protecting to drive while they sit in the back...
But I read the whole thing, and am going to read the next. Fun read, even if often annoying silly.
This book isn’t terrible; but the terse writing style just There were several scenes which should have been emotionally powerful butMostly, I got tired of the elitist preaching, which became more shrill and towards the end of the book. I will not be reading the next one.
It was refreshing to read a solid well crafted story. I like a couple of the authors other series, and this book proved to me he has talent and imagination that are under appreciated. Definitely will recommend to my friends.
Wow! The author has gone from someone whose books I like to one of my top 4 authors in the space of 4 books! This is an awesome, excellent, funny, unputdownable (and yes it's really a word) action filled story from the start to the last page full of fun and surprises.
This book was totally action packed! Great plot, great characters, even great bad guys. I really enjoyed Lynn and her Kazak Guardian adventures. Read this book now. You WILL be glad you did! :)
C.R Daems is a great fun, entertaining read, this series is similar to SFG and Black Guard but with no Syfi content loved Lynn a great MC. Have now read the next two books will give a full review in book three.
This is an interesting book. It is similar in many ways to Black Guard, and Tasmanian Devils. I like the characters in this book. Lynn is a strong lead. I look forward to the next book in the series.
