The Road Trip is the third book in the Kate McCall series.Business is good for novice private investigator Kate McCall. Not long after solving several cases, she’s hired for two more. Her little sister Stephanie is convinced her husband is cheating on her, and hires Kate to get the proof. Omnipresent neighbor and would-be mentor Mac also hires Kate, to investigate the threatening letters being received by a reclusive writer. What appear to be straightforward cases take typically odd turns, and before long Kate finds herself racing through three states, hoping her ancient car holds together, and enduring the increasingly annoying company of Mac, her con man cousin Nick, and the reclusive writer. This is one road trip none of them will ever forget. Fast paced and very funny, the Kate McCall series features a fearless and impulsive young woman absolutely determined to make a success of her business on her own terms and in her own way. Written for fans of humorous fiction, as well as for those who like imperfect female PIs and quirky cases, this lighthearted series will also appeal to anyone who enjoys a great read, memorable characters and a happy ending.
This series is positively one of the best written, most hilariously funny ones I have ever read. The ridiculous situations are actually believable AND the conventional exchanges are incredibly audible. I have laughed uncontrollably from the start of Book One through Book Three!! Don't read ANY of these books in a sedate, refined environment......it's guaranteed to get you forcefully removed! As with any well constructed story line and superbly developed characters, the reader will actually "see" well-known actors portraying these individuals! I cannot wait to open Book Four and desperately hope Books Five, Six, Seven, Eight.......are in publication and/or the final editing reviews. I don't know what - if anything else Ms. Lencionci has written, but I intend to find out as soon as I finish Book Four....if Book Five hasn't been released yet!
This book is just as much fun to read as the previous two. There are lots of humorous situations. The characters really start developing in this one, though I eventually found the constant arguing between Mac and Alex was getting a bit annoying. There really was no need for this constant reminder about them not liking each other. Of course now the question is whether Tina is going to give us the sequel to "Red Lipstick" in her next Kate McCall book :)
I enjoyed reading this book very much. The characters were funny and entertaining. It was fun to see what they were going to do next. I would recommend it to anyone.
